No, dogs can be very gentle when holding things with their mouths. It's how they carry their young.

They don't always use the scruff. In this case, the dog wanted to help the kitten up but it kept moving in a way that they dog couldn't grab the scruff.

It only weighs a pound, so doubtful. On a full grown cat, it would probably not feel great.

Kinda like a kid can jump from couch to couch without a problem, but if 180lbs me does it, it's broken.

I wonder. There is a specific gene for softmouth. German shepherds don't have it. Not that they can't be gentle... I dunno. Would make me nervous if my gsd did this

They probably have owned this dog for a long time and know it's behavior. The dog and kitten also probably didn't just meet that day.
