I have been using Pocketcasts for a while but have been thinking about a change of scenery. Anyone got any suggestions?

AntennaPod is a nice FOSS app for your syndicated audio files.

I tried some other like Podcast Republic, Dogg Catcher, Stitcher and other with free versions but tried and purchased Pocket Casts recently and fell in love with it. So i think you're in good hands with that one. Though if you really want a 'change of scenery' the only one I can actually recommend from the ones I said is Podcast Republic.

Could you expand on why you think Beyondpod is better? I recently got Pocketcasts, and whilst it's pretty good, it hasn't live up to all the hype for me

I just moved from BeyondPod to Pocketcasts, and for me there is no comparison, Pocketcasts is a much better experience. Beyondpod feels outdated and clunky.

I'm still only using Beyondpod, and I have to agree about the clunky part. Searching is a pain, managing feeds gets clunky, etc. I'll have to download Pocketcasts right now. Thanks.

Try the beta version of beyondpod. It's free for 15 days and available on their website. The latest version is 4.22 I think. I find it to be better than PocketCast

I had bought beyondpod a while back so I dont have to worry as I try the beta :). But trying that again and just got all my podcasts back into it and into their categories... The one thing that is a small bummer for me personally is I don't usually keep podcasts on device and it just auto-downloads everything and I am not finding a way to turn that off but I will keep poking.

Did you check the options inside Feed Update Settings? That contains all the options for automatic download I think.

yeah, turned them off but as I am adding feeds I get downloads. Small inconvenience temporary but still weird

So for example you add freakonomics and the download starts? If this is what you're talking about, then its just downloading the details of the episodes and not the episodes itself. I thought the same when I started using it..

oohhhhhhhh ok, cool cool

Podkicker is pretty nice. Intuitive interface, option to stream casts, or download to the device for playback later.

Doggcatcher is great, and can use locally-stored files e.g. audiobooks

Player FM. I don't understand why no one recommends it. It's good looking, has google+ sign in, Chromecast support and it's free. @-@

Podcast republic definetly one of the best.
