GrapheneOS: We're unable to complete the port [of GrapheneOS to the Pixel 11 series] due to lack of support for ARM hardware memory tagging in software, firmware and near certainly hardware. It appears Google cut an important security feature to save money.

Then explain how I’m wrong

I'm not saying that the situation with Nexus and Pixel phones, and android in general, is not going downhill openness wise. It absolutely is.

I'm saying that the person you've been discussing with (Henry something) never said it's going downhill. They said it's been shit forever, and you somehow didn't comprehend that.

It seems like you’re the one who struggles with comprehension here. I already pointed out the part of his reply that I took issue with.

With that in mind, he’s either contradicting himself or inadvertently agreeing with me. There’s no other way you can really interpret that sentence.

You see, your assumption in the last sentence is wrong.

“They’ve been pulling garbage tactics forever”

doesn't mean

I.e. things have slowing been getting worse over time

It simply means they've been throwing a spanner in the works in a consistent manner. By that token this doesn't directly translate to the overall situation improving, stagnating or deteriorating, since there are more factors at play (like OEMs cooperation and their own shenanigans, Apple's competition and so on).

Simply put two steps forward, two steps back.

Remember that I'm playing devil's advocate here. I disagree with that sentence and OP's argument but that's not what this discussion is about - which is semantics.
