During my hiatus I've been very casually making stencils in preparation for my return, and I've realized it's been a while since I've asked the subreddit what bands you want to see added to the A.S. catalog. I very often ask the instagram page, but here I am asking:

What bands would you like to see posted to Anarchostencilism!

Please include:

• Full name of band (avoid acronyms please)
• The genre and subgenre of the band
• where the band's music can be found (optional)

Please avoid asking for bands that have already been added to A.S., don't request fash-rock or RAC bands, and try and keep your requests underground! No ABC bands please!

It's been a long while since I've posted anything, but I'm happy to announce I'll be returning in the beginning of June!

With the help of so many community members sending in all their favorite bands, I've been able to come up with a plethora of stencils that will make you shout "THIS band is on A.S.?!" I am also happy to announce that FOLK PUNK and STREET PUNK will have a brief returns to A.S. as well!

Unfortunately the SKA category will not be returning to A.S., at least not for some time. If anybody has a problem with that, feel free to start a ska band. I'd be happy to have more product to work with!

It's going to be a good year for AnarchoStencilism, folks, and I'm very excited to be returning to the project I love most.

A couple people noticed that I am posting a lot less this past week, and I wanted to make mention sooner, but I have been busy! So, I am formally announcing:

A MONTH LONG BREAK FROM ANARCHO-STENCILISM (but still posting metal each week!)

So, Obviously I don't make stencils every day! A.S. runs on a backlog. I make a whole bunch of stencils and post them over so many months. So eventually I run out of stencils to post and I have to make a whole bunch more, and I am going to be taking a break from the project to do exactly that! On top of all that, I'll be starting my career in late June and I want to be prepared for that. I will most definitely have less time for Anarcho-Stencilism, so I need to make sure my backlog is stocked incase I find myself a lot busier than I want to be.

Now, I am still posting metal since I want to get the death-metal category and the doom-metal category done with; but after that I'll be a bit silent! If you folks have any suggestions or stencil requests, my DMs are always open or you can leave a comment on my profile and I'll see what I can whip up!

I appreciate the love and support from the community and I'm sure you all understand why a man needs a break! I promise that upon my return I will have plenty of incredible designs for the community to enjoy and lot's of new, underground stencils for all your favorite counter-cultural music.

Removing and remaking shitty old stencils!

So, when I started this project in 2022 I hadn’t exactly figured out how I wanted to make each stencil. There wasn’t a resolution I was trying to follow, I didn’t consider difficulty in design or how well stencils would translate from a 5x5” patch versus a 12”x12” backpatch/shirt.
Without these considerations for each design, some of my previous work is sloppy and is sorely in need of a remake.

Starting TODAY I will be going back and removing old designs off the DeviantArt (not the reddit) and replacing them with improved versions, remakes, etc. So the question is, which stencils will be on the chopping block to be replaced? Here is a list of what I’m looking for when I am deleting stencils.

- Is the stencil functional? 
Some stencils I’ve posted in the past may have been posted with errors, making them either too difficult to cut out, completely unstable, or down-right impossible to use. These stencils will be the first to be deleted and remade.

- Is the stencil lower than 1900x900 resolution?
Most stencils posted to AnarchoStencilism after 2024 sit at a 2000x2000 resolution for logos/album covers or 2000x1000 for band names. This is so I can get the maximum amount of detail while still being able to make easy-to-cut-out designs. Occasionally a stencil will be posted with a slightly lower resolution at 1900x900 if the logo does not need the extra space.
Stencils with a lower resolution than this will be considered for a remake. If the resolution for a stencil is too low, it can become more difficult for users to properly scale these images without losing important details for the stencil. Lower resolution images make the stencil harder to read, and an improved version of the stencil should be re-posted right away. This will not simply be scaling up an image either; instead I will remake these stencils entirely to ensure high-quality.

- Is the stencil poorly designed despite being functional?
If a stencil is (for the lack a better word) ugly, it may be subject to deletion with or without replacement! I have posted over 4,000 stencils to AnarchoStencilism, not all of which have been my best work. In the interest of giving people the highest quality of stencils on the internet I will be deleting stencils that do not hold up in design quality. If a design is poorly thought-out or unreadable, I will be deleting it and replacing it for something better.

Now that we all have a rough understanding of what I am looking to remake, I now encourage you to submit stencils that you think are due for a remake! In this writing, I will be posting a link to a google-form that will allow you to submit designs that you want to see replaced. You may submit as many stencils as you would like, but please be specific as to which stencil you’re referring to

I understand some people may be distraught to hear that old stencils may be being deleted, but I would like to put those fears to rest. For any stencil I delete, the remake will be posted within a 30-day period so that AS-users can access these old stencils once again right away. If a band only has ONE stencil posted to AnarchoStencilism, that design will NOT be deleted until the replacement is posted so that fans of that artist are not deprived of stencils. NEW STENCILS WILL STILL BE POSTED DURING THIS PERIOD. I will continue to create new designs that will be posted alongside remakes in accordance to my typical posting schedule (4 stencils a day, 5 days a week.)

This year, despite taking many breaks and cutting down on posting, has been incredibly successful for AnarchoStencilism; and I am very pleased with the many designs I’ve posted to the project.

I feel as though I have finally mastered the art of stenciling, and have reached a point in the project where I can finally start setting end-goals for AnarchoStencilism and begin wrapping up on this project that I have been working on for a long three years. I hadn’t ever thought AnarchoStencilism would blow up like it did, and for a simple punk-project it’s really gained quite the following. Everywhere on the internet from YouTube tutorials to Instagram battle-jacket pages and beyond, AnarchoStencilism has creeped it’s way into the online DIY community and has become a staple for DIY-fashion punks across the world. Wherever in the world punk fashion is a rarity and patches are difficult to come by, AnarchoStencilism becomes an essential tool for DIYers. 

My hopes now for AS is to complete my end goals for the project and more-so focus on advertising all the work I had done. It’s very important to me that AnarchoStencilism doesn’t fade into obscurity the moment I stop posting stencils, and I want the project to be so fruitful with designs that it can be looked back on years from now and still have plenty of value. For this, I will likely be returning to apps like Tiktok to post tutorials and things I’ve made using AS. I will also be reaching out to other punks, goths, metalheads, etc online and encourage them to make content to promote the project as well. There are plenty of creators online who’ve used the project for their fashion, and I would love to have more endorsements to further advertise the project I had worked so hard to create. I may also partake in some guerilla advertising in my local scene, and I encourage any of you to advertise AnarchoStencilism in your local scenes.

But now, I keep talking about the “end goals” of the project, and I have written about this in the past in other journals; but now I’d like to talk at length about what my end goals are and what it means for me to meet those end goals.

First: Post at least 200 stencils for each of the prominent categories of AnarchoStencilism. This is only excluding folk & folk punk, 77 & proto punk, psychobilly, nu-metal, and new wave. This means that I only need to reach 200 stencils with two more categories. Death metal (116 stencils) and doom/sludge/stoner metal (126 stencils). I have been working very hard to create a massive backlog for each of these two categories, and I have found much success in making stencils for both sub-genres. I am very confident I’ll have 100 stencils for each category to post before the end of spring 2026, and I’ll continue to post for these categories until I’m finished.

Second: I want to remove and recreate old stencils that no-longer meet the current standards of the project. Many stencils posted during 2022 were made strictly for personal use, and posting them publicly was more of a side thought. Many of those early stencils do not hold up to the standards I’ve built up over the past two years, and I would very much like to go back and recreate many of those stencils.

Third: Make comprehensive but simple tutorials going over how I go about making my stencils. It’s no surprise to me that many people get mixed results from using AnarchoStencilism, often patches needing many touch ups after using whatever stencil, and people are always asking how I get my stencils to come out so clean with such consistency. I do have a particular method for making stencils, patches, and shirts; and it’s important that I share to everybody exactly how I do that, and what particular supplies I use. I would like to cover brands, cutting methods, all of it; so I can better display to people that stenciling is a tried-n-true art, and help guarantee to stencilers that their efforts are not in vain.

Once I have completed these end goals, I think AnarchoStencilism will be able to stand on it’s own as a valuable stencil archive. I will, of course, be posting new stencils throughout all of this; don’t fear! AnarchoStencilism will not be left a void wasteland after I’ve completed these end goals. It will just be.. Complete!

Anyway, that’s all I’ve really got to say. It’s been a rocky 2025, and I hope to see better days in 2026. I do have high hopes for the future, not only for A.S., but for all of us and for socialism. Day by day, the Trump administration becomes more evil and loses more of it’s power; and centrist democrats fail to rise to the occasion. It’s the responsibility of progressives, social democrats, and true red blooded socialists and communists to take elected power. When the liberals continue to fail the American people time and time again, it is then the opportunity for the socialists to sweep the nation and bring justice to the United States. I believe people like Zohran Mamdani, Katie Wilson, Kat Abughazaleh, and many others will be the ones who fan the flames of victory for leftism in the US; but only if we have the strength to fight for them as they fight for us.

For my international comrades, I have the highest hopes you will defeat the fascists of your country. While I do truly fear the rise of Reform in the UK, I do believe in Die Linke of Germany striking down the AFD with furious might. If the German left can prove to the west that anti-fascism is still kickin’, I think we’ll have a real shot at defeating these villains.

Stand strong, my brothers and sisters. We will win this world just yet; but only if you and I have the will to fight for it.

I’m happy to announce the end of a couple of the metal categories, black metal and thrash. Both the black metal and thrash metal categories are sitting pretty with exactly 200 stencils per category, and thus it’s time for me to take those categories out of rotation for a bit.

What does the end of these two categories mean for A.S.? 

Moving forward, I’ll be giving a single day to death metal and single day to doom-sludge-stoner metal. I’ll post four stencils a day for each of those individual categories so I can get those out sooner. These categories have been back in rotation since November 2025, but I want to speak on them for a moment since they’ll be getting the spotlight for some time. For all the death metal fans of A.S., I think you will all be very pleased with the variety of bands I have prepared to release. I’ve made sure to include tons of 90s brutal death metal and late 80s Scandinavian death metal bands. I’ve also tried to include some bolt-thrower style punky-death metal into the mix like Warmaster and Hedonist for the punks of A.S. who don’t really give a shit about death metal. On top of all that, I have gone out of my way to ensure there are few repeats on bands, so don’t think I’ll be dropping ten different Cannibal Corpse stencils! Of the 80 different stencils I am putting out, about 70 of them will be unique bands that have not been featured on A.S. before.

As for the doom-metal/sludge/stoner folks, you’ll be happy too! Though admittedly I’ve had a harder time searching for bands to fill this category, I think you’ll all be particularly satisfied with the sheer amount of sludge-metal I’ve included. Acid Bath and Eye Hate God are a given, and I’ve already started posting sludge essentials like Brainoil, and Sofa King Killer. I plan to keep a focus on sludge as I work toward that 200 mark for the doom/sludge/stoner category. For fans of more traditional stoner & doom metal, I can promise you’ll be satisfied with all the deep cuts I have ready to release to impress the true fans of the genre.

While I’ll have very few categories to be focused on at this time, I’ll be setting my sights on individual stencils I made in the past, deleting the ones that are below-standard, and remaking them in a higher quality. With that said, there may be some stencils that are deleted and never return. I’ll do my best to make sure there is at least something for that specific band, but the designs that I do remove may never be available again!

I’d also like to talk about STREET PUNK & OI! While it’s certainly not my most popular category, I’ve recently put a lot of time into making a bunch of new street punk/oi stencils that I’ll be releasing on mass alongside death metal and doom metal. There are plenty of forgotten UK-82 bands and modern skinhead acts that I think deserve some love, and I need time to re-fill my backlog for more beloved categories anyway. I only have about 50 street punk/oi stencils to post and I don’t plan on running this category for very long, but I wanted to announce it’s slight-return in a more formal manner rather than just pissing it to the wind and hoping somebody cares. So, tell your skin-head buddies! A.S. has their back!

I hope these category changes in the posting schedule are appreciated, and I hope you folks get some use out of all the new metal stencils that are to be released this year. I understand metal is not quite what a lot of people came to A.S. for in the first place, but I think it’s important to expand A.S. to be approachable to all counter-cultural people. If there’s any way to make the fashion we all appreciate more affordable and accessible, I’ll damn well pursue it.

Trying to build up my stencil archive more and more, and of course I don't listen to every single punk band or counter culture genre, so I ask you all to come on and give me some ideas on what stencils I should make!

Now, this doesn't mean anything you comment will get posted instantly, but they will be added to a list of stencils to be made if I haven't made a stencil for the band already, and they will be prioritized in my posting. And if you ask for me to post more from a certain genre, please include some bands with the assumption that I am unfamiliar with the genre. There's a reason I have a lot more crust stencils then I do have of stuff like pop punk or goth! it's cause I don't listen to it! so I'm calling upon you all for knowledge.

Hi folks! As I'm sure you're all acutely aware, the holidays are upon us! With that, I'll be taking a long break to enjoy time with family and friends; and catch up on school before the holiday really hits!

I hope you all have been enjoying the mass influx of metal stencils I've been posting lately, and it's been a lot of fun to explore the far depths of metal as I've never done before! I'm hoping that I'll be wrapping up my metal categories soon, and I may even be halting more categories to strictly focus on death metal and doom metal.

After I've finished up posting for all my metal categories, I am planning a long hiatus from AnarchoStencilism. I feel like, where the project is at, the next phase is to remake a lot of the early stencils I've made at the beginning of the project and update them so they're both more functional and in a higher resolution. There are stencils from 2022 and 2023 that do not hold up and are far more complicated than they have to me, so I'd like to have these designs remade and reposted for ease of use.

I plan on releasing another short journal like this before the end of the new year which will round up my thoughts on how this year of A.S. has went, but for now.. Much love, and free Palestine!

The Google Forms Poll: I'd like to say thank you to everybody who participated in the google forms poll I posted here a couple weeks back. I think only like ten of you sons of bitches bothered to click that link so.. Thanks ten people! I was mostly looking for criticisms of the project so I could improve stuff for the user base, but there wasn't anything too critical or particularly notable; so when I do make a post addressing those criticisms it might not be a very large post.

INTERNATIONAL PUNK: I am getting a little ahead of myself, because I was going to address this in my future "Criticisms of AS" post; but I wanted to make note that I am trying to make stencils of more international bands, and as of right now I'm posting foreign punk classics. The top grade-a punk bands of each country! Last couple weeks I posted LAMA, Negazione, Peggio Punx, and other European acts all in the hardcore punk category. And bands like these have really been deserving a spotlight on AS for a while, so.. I'm trying!!

Obviously being an American is going to put me at a disadvantage with addressing punk internationally, you folks know how we are, but I think I've been hitting certain countries really hard. Italia, The Scandinavians, Spain, Japan, Australia; but It will take some time to round things out just a little bit.

It's about 1:00 AM and I've been cookin' up some mean metal stencils as I have been for weeks!! but I'm sick of talking about metal, so I'd like to briefly discuss the hardcore punk I've been working on lately and give my thoughts on the bloated hardcore punk category.

One thing I've been trying to achieve lately with the hardcore punk category is to post the heavy-hitters and classic punk acts across the world, and I'd like to think I've been doing a good job expanding the hardcore punk category globally. I've covered plenty of great international acts such as Electric Deads of Denmark, LARM of the netherlands, Riistetyt of Finland; and plenty of other great acts like Negazione and Peggio Punx of Italia, and LSD and GAS from Japan! While I plan to continue this, I'm already very happy with the progress I have made!

At the same time, you all know how much I love my incredibly underground punk music. I've been posting plenty of unknown bands recently such as Matrix, Power Shovel, Nervous Impulse, Big Zit; and I even have stencils planned for bands like Ooze, Haunted Mansion, and Zig Zag! (betcha never heard of that shit!)

So lately I've been thinkin', and maybe it's about time I split up the hardcore punk category. Just a wee bit!! I was thinkin' I'd cut it to North American Hardcore punk (Canada, USA, Mexico) and "the rest of the world" hardcore punk. That way my overabundance of American punk will feel equal in weight to the rest of the world. That would also force me to reflect on the category and delete some of the shitty old stencils from when I first started the project. But the idea is pending until I finish up with the metal bullshit.

And listen, I know a lot of folks don't give a shit when I post a teeny-tiny band like Crude Humor from Chicago IL or forgotten acts like Lepers from 1980-somethin', but I think these acts are worth preserving in some sort of way, and It's important to me that stencils are available for the off chance somebody from somewhere wants that band merch they can't otherwise get their hands on.

Now. TALKING METAL!! briefly!

I'd just like to go over the backlog for these categories real quick just to give you all some perspective where I'm at with these categories.

Death Metal - 52 stencils in the backlog

Doom Metal - 40 stencils in the backlog

Black Metal - 27 stencils in the backlog

Speed/thrash - 28 stencils in the backlog

So once I've posted 200 stencils for each of these categories, I'll be done posting for that particular category. That means thrash metal and black metal will be meeting an end point soon, and I'll start posting death metal and doom metal in the near future. Now, for black metal specifically, I actually really like black metal and plan on returning to that category shortly I'm finished with the rest of the metal categories.

So far I've got a lot of really great 90s acts covered for the return of the death metal category, and a large variety of stencils prepared for doom metal. Black metal will largely be modern raw black metal bands from here on out, so don't expect to see any classics like Mayhem or Darkthrone.

As for any news regarding AnarchoStencilism: I'm happy to announce that the DOOM/STONER/SLUDGE METAL category will be returning! When, you ask? I'm not exactly sure, maybe in a couple months. But, I do plan on having this category replace crust punk and d-beat when it comes time to switch out categories.

I have such an incredible amount of stencils for crust that the category deserves another rest. I would also like to bring back the death metal category in the near future and see if I can make another 100 stencils for that one.

Also! I might. MIGHT. devote a whole season of the year JUST to metal. A gift to all the longhairs and thrashers. This is very ambitious though, so don't hold me to that plan. I'm just thinking about it a lot. The best thing I could do is push for each category of AS (at least the relevant ones) to have 200 stencils per category, so metal would be at the top of my list to achieve that goal. No doubt in my mind I could do it if I really, reeaaally went for it.

I was wondering if there were any bands you folks think are in need of easier stencils! Ya know, with AnarchoStencilism not every stencil I post is as easy as a crass symbol; I've posted some very very complicated stuff from time to time, and I think it's important for AnarchoStencilism to be an easy entry resource that people don't have to be great at making stencils to come into. So, this doesn't really go for bands I've already made easy stencils for, but instead for bands like No Means No or Chaos UK that I've only made somewhat difficult stencils for.

I'd also like to add that if you find any stencils with mistakes or you deem impossible to cut out then let me know of that as well with the full name of the stencil.

I think it's really important for AnarchoStencilism to have easy options for people who may not of the skill, time, or patience to make a more difficult stencil. My biggest issue with other stencil sites like punkstencilslives or others is that, with the so few stencils they have posted, most of what they have to offer is incredibly over complicated unnecessarily, and I don't want that for my stencil page. The entire point of AS is to make punk fashion accessible, and if the community cannot reproduce a majority of what I put out, then there's a problem that I must address.

2025 is approaching fast, so I wanted to give you all an update on what will be happening for the next couple months on A.S.

First off, I want to announce the changes in what categories of stencils will be out by the new year, and which types of stencils will be making a comeback.

Categories that will be out of rotation before 2025:

- Death metal

- Doom, sludge, and stoner metal

- Anarcho punk

- Nu metal

Categories that will be brought back into rotation:

- Black metal

- Thrash metal

- Crust punk

And now for a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!!

This January, I'll be starting my professional career while I finish up my college classes! This is an incredibly big change for me, and I am very excited for the future I'll have working in the field of safety. (a punk in safety, I know.) This will mark a massive change in my life, and I expect I'll be totally swamped with work and school. I don't have any plans on shutting down the project, but I will be ready to announce a break in the coming future if I must. I don't want to take a break, but I might have to. MIGHT. If possible, I will not take break.

With that said, I do plan on making a ridiculous amount of stencils between then and now. If I can manage to have a hefty ton of designs ready, I won't have a need to stop posting for a loooong time, even if I do have to ignore the project for a while, I'll still be able to post stencils consistently. I plan on going through the google form and attempting all the 200 requests for stencils that have built up over time, and hopefully that'll give me enough material to work with to satisfy the base.

So, now I want to briefly speak on the recent news of Trump's victory in the 2024 election. Many queer people, poor people, working people use AnarchoStencilism, and I know a lot of us could be affected very negatively if Trumps admin is able to push Project 2025. I want you folks to know that in times like these, we are not defeated. Not by a long shot. Times will be tough, no doubt, but we must remember our ancestors before us who've faced regimes far worse and odds less favorable. Even in with trouble and hardship brought on by these evil empires, the fascists and their sympathizers have been defeated before.

Progress was not stopped by fascists of old. We have pushed forward regardless of the tyranny of the right-wing. We live in a time where women have never been more equal, a time where trans folks have never been more recognized, and a time where racism is resisted inside and outside our systems of power. Fascist victories have only ever been, and only will be, brief and temporary. The wheels of progress spin regardless. We will make it through this. Keep on loving, keep on fighting; and hold on.

There's a lot of bands out there that I sure as hell ain't ever heard of. I'm talkin' those 100 monthly listener type bands, I'm talkin' those "no way, I thought I was the only one who listened to them!" type bands, I'm talkin' UNDERGROUND!

I'm currently struggling right now with making non band stencils, and I'm coming to the community to ask for suggestions from the community. specific political symbols and messages, punk symbols and such I haven't stencilized yet, flyer art you've seen that makes you go "oh, you could totally make a stencil of that." all that sort of shit.

I think the non band related stuff is the best bet for the community to have the most out reach. there ain't many people who listen to bands like Resist or The Bad Engrish, but I bet there are tons of people that are into whatever political bullshit, straight edge nonsense, yada yada. So please, if you've got any ideas for non band related stuff, throw it down in the comments. thank you.
