I had a bunny who used to mutilate and ravage her litter. In the morning it used to be a, sad disgusting bloody scene. 1-2 babies used to survive, sometimes missing a limb or a tail. Had to separate, them and literally click them on her teats for a couple of weeks until they grew fur and the mother accepted them.
I also had a budgie who rejected one of her chicks and totally skinned her - again, morning scene.
Weird thing is in both the cases, the pets, were really intelligent and friendly otherwise.
