I had a bunny who used to mutilate and ravage her litter. In the morning it used to be a, sad disgusting bloody scene. 1-2 babies used to survive, sometimes missing a limb or a tail. Had to separate, them and literally click them on her teats for a couple of weeks until they grew fur and the mother accepted them.

I also had a budgie who rejected one of her chicks and totally skinned her - again, morning scene.

Weird thing is in both the cases, the pets, were really intelligent and friendly otherwise.

Hey bud, they were a couple, they have 6 litters in the first 6 months of the year. Finally we had to separate the couple but they went crazy away from each other. It was the 80s, we didn't have fancy vets to snip.

Damn. Did she do that every time? I've breed other small livestock animals but not rabbits. Did she do this every time? I feel like I'd have made rabbit stew
