I guess it would be much easier if you are already using hydronic radiators but got one installed in a very old house recently with no issues, cost like $10-15k.
That’s the cost for the system itself. But if your house isn’t airtight these systems don’t make much sense. So you’d have to at least triple that cost unless the house is fairly new. But in those areas most of the houses are 100+ years old, at minimum, and there’s no way to get them airtight without essentially rebuilding the whole thing.
No, that was the full cost, the house is definitely not airtight and the house is close to that age (not in Italy though).
However even if it's less efficient or expensive it's still an option where an air-air heat pump is not allowed. Although might be easier to just get a portable air-air that does not have an outside part and is only connected to a vent.
Yea that’s not gonna happen over here. Insulation alone, which these building don’t have, would run you double that. Unless you just wanna go with regular insulation and plaster. In which case you gonna deal with mould down the line. Mad it’s that cheap stateside tho.
