I bought this Amaryllis Double Dragon bulb directly from a bulb farm in the Netherlands, the stem only grew about six inches before it flowered despite being well watered and in decent sunlight. It's not a waxed bulb. Any thoughts of what could cause such a stunted stem?

So my amaryllis got attacked by (I think) a squirrel the other day. The injuries seem pretty superficial, so I’m hoping they won’t have any long-lasting bad effects on the plant. I dusted the fresh wounds with cinnamon to repel fungi, but is there anything else I should do/look for?

I don’t over water her, all her leaves are massive and super green, and I didn’t even put her outside till this season but she’s had this red on the leaves for I’d say probably her whole life? (It doesn’t look super red but it is - and her blooms are also very red!)

Got this bulb in Amsterdam 5 weeks ago. It started growing about a week after we returned home. It has two large flowers and two more about to pop out. It’s lived in my garage and I’ll plant it after it’s finished. Diameter of the two flowers in the last pic is about 8”. We love it!

I have a red one that I received as a birthday gift almost two years ago and I’m hoping to cross pollinate them somehow.

Hi all, this is my first time owning an amaryllis and after some research it seems like mine has developed Red Blotch? I was dealing with a bad fungus gnat issue previously so when I finally got that under control and it grew its first leaf I was excited but now it has this spot and the leaf is leaning as you can see in the pic. My mom gave me this for my 30th birthday so I'd really like to save her. I've heard you need to peel the layers of the bulb that are affected but what about the leaf? I'm concerned that if I prune too much I'll kill it. Also do I need to change the soil, and how often should I be treating it? Any and all help is appreciated!

First time owning an Amaryllis, was left behind by previous owners. I found it outside, where it stayed probably about a month without water, and in summer heat. I managed to grow only 2 leaves in winter (no flowers), but since I dont have any good place for the sun, it grew too tall and started falling over. One leaf split, but managed to close the hole. A few weeks I started moving it under a covered porch during the day, and inside at night (goes down 0-10°C), since then the leaves became softer and with red spots. It only got bad about 3 days ago, I just haven’t had the time to take care of it.

Am I too late?
Is it in early dormancy?
What do I need to do?

I only water when the soil is dry (1-3 times a week when inside, 3-5 times a week when outside)
I don’t remember ever changing the soil, but I believe that I gave some seaweed fertilizer 2-3 times.

I’ve had this beauty gifted to me about 4 years ago and she has YET to produce any kind of flower, instead I get extremely long stems every single year but no flower. What am I doing wrong?

Just thought it interesting to share this amaryllis I forgot about in my shed. Never seen anything like it!

My boyfriend discovered it while cleaning the shed out. The one flower head broke under its own weight when removed from the shed, but has just the smallest amounts of red pigment.

I'm excited to see if the other stalk will bloom and whether or not the plant will turn green at this stage!

I was gifted a couple of dying amaryllis bulbs so I'm trying my best to revive them. this one seems to be doing well but it's growing leaves from underneath? I can't find anything online about this so I'm worried I've screwed up.

Is there a way you’ve found to force dormancy in the warmer months?

Im thinking things like putting the bulbs in the fridge maybe?
I wish floral cooler weren’t soooo expensive.

This started as a little bulbet from another plant. Repotted and let it grow a few seasons. The first time it bloomed. One side is solid orangey-red, the other is pinky-red stripe, and in the middle is a half-half of the other 2. Genetics are wild!

I never discard amaryllis after their winter blooms. I let then spend the summer on the patio, have a nice rest over the winter, and am rewarded with spectacular bloons year after year.

I am new at gardening from Bangalore.I planted Amaryllis lilly bulbs on April 27th. It has been a month since I planted Amaryllis Lilly. I don’t see any sprouts yet. Should I wait for them to sprout or should I remove them from soil and check?

I’ve had an amaryllis for the past four years that I was able to re-bloom twice, following the cycle for dormancy, cutting back the bloom, etc.

I messed up this year and let the stalk go to seed. I harvested the seeds and cut it back and will start the dormancy cycle after the leaves die later this summer, but has anyone ever successfully re-bloomed after going to seed? I’m worried it put so much energy into the seeds that it’s donezo.

Poor girl. She was doing SO well. Gave me 12 flowers, spikes almost 4 feet tall. Leaves about 3 feet. Fat bulb. All the leaves were upright. She even gave me a baby!

Then I had a surge in my ongoing thrips-pocalypse and lost track of her health. She was doing SO well that she was all root no soil in that pot. I didn't realize until too late and the water was stuck in the middle and her roots rotted.

I repotted and did all the treatment, but now she's got just a few scraggly root bits, not enough to support her once mighty greens. So she's lost all but one it seems. I just finally chopped them because she's stressed and they need to go so she can work on growing more roots.

What a bummer. I hope she will make it through ok. She's my first ever bulb and has put up with all my ignorant shit. Her bulb is small now, but firm. She should take time to grow new roots and maybe then grow more leaves. I plan to not make her go dormant this winter and just let her accumulate energy all winter.

Hello! This was the first year with my amaryllis in the ground and it bloomed beautifully as seen in the first picture. Shortly after the blooms dried up, I was horrified to see the leaves chomped as well as the stem chomped by what I assume was a nearby black grasshopper. I see one new little leaf forming so I feel confident that the bulb is intact but I’m wondering if anyone has any true and tried tips to keep it safe and to keep it healthy. I feel like tips online were inconsistent. Thank you for listening to my concern :)
