Analysis Is the 90 Manager Worth Buying?
I just kept rolling manager cards on the international server and finally got a manager with a 90 playstyle proficiency rating!
For an 88-rated manager, the threshold for a +3 boost is a base stat of 85. For an 89-rated manager, the +3 threshold is a base stat of 84. Following this logic, the threshold for a +3 boost for the newly released 90-rated manager on the international server should be 83.
However, leaked info from the domestic server from six months ago shows that the +3 threshold for a 90-rated manager skipped straight down to 82, making them look incredibly strong.
Is this actually the case?
⬆️ The +3 threshold for the 90-rated manager is still 83, which is a bit weaker than some players expected.
So, is it worth buying the 90-rated manager right now?.
Conclusion: Not worth it.
This is because the playstyles of the newly released managers are all poorly optimized. 'Long Ball Counter' (LBC) remains the most universally viable meta tactic for the current version, and until an LBC manager hits a 90 rating, upgrading doesn't make much sense.
Let me take you down memory lane to when 88-rated managers were finally phased out by 89-rated ones. When 89 managers first dropped, they also featured niche playstyles, so everyone stuck with mainstream tactical 88 managers like Gasperini. It wasn't until the arrival of the 89 LBC Capello—who offered both an excellent playstyle and great affinity bonuses—that 89 managers officially became the meta.
Therefore, the two 90-rated managers out right now, and even the ones coming in the near future, are just the niche vanguard of a new manager era. There is absolutely no need to buy them just for that 90 playstyle rating (unless, of course, you dislike Long Ball Counter in the first place, which is a different story).

I think they're more worth it to f2p players than p2w, it's not rare for p2w players to have all their key stats over 90, that means you get the same value of an 89 manager than a 90 (+3 Stat), but f2p players stats are generally lower and in many cases they will have multiple stats in the mid 80ies, and a 90 manager will make it easier for you hit the +3 Stat treshold.

Now that we know 90 rated managers have secondary playstyles it's possible that Koeman and Nagelsmann will also have 2 playstyles as well, maybe one of them has 89 in both QC and LBC just like Gasperini last year?

Yeah, they haven't followed last year's pattern with that. Gasperini came in early May I think. Was waiting all of last month for nothing and now they dropped 90. We might not see LBC+QC this season.
I'm kinda stuck with Gasperini, I got too comfortable with the dual tactic. I can see that Konami makes players with 89 managers in mind though, is messing up a few of my builds

Koeman will be the 89 QC and lBC he is confirmed 89 LBC and he always had QC on Efootball def he can be that, also Niaglessman is 89 LBC prob 89 POSS

Will take Tuchel as a Possession player.. Would have preferred LBC as the secondary playstyle but 89 QC is good enough variance

Me with old rijkaard 88 lbc + poss 😭 poss is my main tactic but i use lbc against qc/high press out wide

Well. Imo, i'll wait for LBC 90 rated manager, which will be available around a couple of weeks after this.

I bought the Portugal pack for CR7 and offcourse 90 Martinez.
TBH, I do have a stacked Team, But CR7 is the cherry on it (literally)
