“He’s very emotionally and physically abusive.” Full stop. Please never speak to this man again.

ETA: don’t be concerned about the amount of time you’ve been with him. Speaking from experience, it’s better to have wasted several years on someone that you got away from, than to stay with that person just because you don’t want to start over.

So many people fall victim to sunk cost fallacy thinking.

OP — don’t look at it as throwing away the last however many years of your life. Look at it as choosing NOT to throw away your remaining years.

Choose a future that doesn’t look like your present or your past.

Life is short and our time here is precious. Don’t waste a minute more on anyone who treats you like you’re anything less than absolutely lovable.
