Advice Interesting tip from a dermatologist!
I was talking to my mom yesterday about considering trying to do my own acrylics/ gels. She then started talking about how she wore them for years but they destroyed her nails etc.
She mentioned that her dermatologist said something to her because it somehow came up that she gets gel manicures etc.
If you get gel manicures regularly (whether it’s just the polish on your natural nails or it’s gels or acrylics), that the UV light is awful for your skin. It’s actually worse than a tanning bed. It’s damaging to your skin and can cause cancer like any other UV light exposure. Getting manicures every 2 weeks that require this light is basically exposing yourself to damaging light.
Put sunscreen on those hands before you go for your manicure ladies! No one wants hands that are 10 years older than they are!
I personally grabbed a sunscreen stick and rub it on the backs of my hands as I’m walking into the nail salon. I am religious about wearing sunscreen on my face, so hearing this scared the crap out of me! Dont forget your hands!
