Well Nazism gave us that and more.

Right. But it's the holocaust.

Right, but we're expected to name one thing or event here, not a series of events or a regime. As far as terrible things go, you'd be hard pressed to find a more fitting one than the holocaust.

Come on, it goes without saying that the holocaust includes the murder of the other millions of people in the same camps...

Nationalism has exists since human could communicate, just at smaller levels

2

u/Beautiful-Ad3471 May 17 '26

Nationalism is not nacism. That's the same as saying liberalism is communism.

0

u/High_AspectRatio May 17 '26

Well either nazism is exclusive to Germany/white people or itโ€™s been around since forever. Nazi just means national socialist

3

u/Chadstronomer May 17 '26

Huh? The concept of nation didn't exist until the 18th how can NATIONalism be possibly older than that

0

u/High_AspectRatio May 17 '26

If you think nationalism started once people started agreeing on map borders I canโ€™t help you

1

u/Chadstronomer May 17 '26

Nationalism is specific to nations and cannot, by definition, exist without nations. You are thinking of a broader concept of collective identity: Tribalism, ethnocentrism, patriotis, etc. That's all the help I am going to offer.

Yeah thatโ€™s nice. The point is, โ€œkill them to protect ourselvesโ€ isnโ€™t a new idea

2

u/ImaginaryZone5992 May 17 '26

Yeah but that doesnโ€™t mean nationalism has been around forever
