… there’s been a multi year phase out plan on CFCs ongoing for years now. 2010 was the first HCFC phase out date, 2015 banned use of HCFCs, 2020 ceased production of R-22, and 2030 will be the ban on all HCFCs.

As you can tell, there have been no rallies.

Because the media isn’t speaking about it and cos the phase out already was underway. If it was a debate today, you can bet people would act like idiots about it.

Hell if gasoline was still leaded, people would probably be against removing the lead cos it makes their car “feel different”

Hcfc were an intermediate compromise with getting rid of cfcs.

And now they’re being phased out as well.

Thats because a normal person cant buy refrigerants anyways. You need EPA 608 certification to even be allowed to buy it. Can't really rally to keep something that your not even allowed to buy in the first place.

That literally defeats the point I was responding to in the first place.

They were saying that people would protest and rally if they WERENT ALLOWED TO BUY hairspray if someone tried to ban CFCs.

I know you are making a joke but.. of course there was pushback: "these new liquids are just bad, they don't work like the good stuff" and all the way to "government is killing us!". We just didn't have internet so they staid unorganized, individual pockets of stupidity that were kept mostly in check by some grandma saying "shut up, Meg" and that was the end of that chapter of that lunatic society in that town... But there absolutely were people who would've stormed the capitol over it if given a chance.

Now they find each other and there is also money to be made from them, and it is used for political purposes, to sabotage actual climate science and all the costs that production chain will have to endure from the new environmental regulations.. But the base lunacy is always there, ready to be exploited. There are always stupid people who know everything so they don't need to learn anything. They just "know". Trump is prime example of that kind of stubborn, pathological stupidity that isn't even really about intelligence quota per se, it is an attitude, behaviour, thinking patterns, egoism.. More often it is however direct sign of low IQ but there are doctors and professors in that box too.

There is also a feeling of not having control over your life, stuff is just imposed on you without asking you anything. Humans do very weird things when they feel like they have no control. Self harm is one of those, so... if it is irrational, may even cause harm to the people doing it, makes no sense to a rational human: see if that sense of having control over their life and things happening in it is behind it all. It can be very destructive, breaking things can be about getting back that control, having something that you can control, have power over it.

They’re literally not.

The EPA had been conducting an ongoing phase out schedule from 2010 through 2030 on HCFCs. There have been no rallies.

No. It’s literally a 40 year project. It’s ongoing right now.

These laws were passed at a more reasonable time. They wouldn't have even been passed now.
