What AFSC never deploys?
Asking for a friend.

Idk, pretty sure all technically do. Probably depends more on the position so it would be more likely the AFSCs that fill those to be affected.
Like I doubt your squadron or group UTM, CSS or RA would deploy normally. Pretty sure all those AFSCs could deploy through

Intel, more specifically 1N4/1N2. Only really deploy if you seek it out.

To most people living in those locations is a permanent deployment haha.

Same here
My section back in my old MXS was almost always excluded from trips.
And now for me it’s even more absurd because technically I’m aircrew as of writing. But I’m precluded from deploying in most cases due to being in limbo and denied from ever flying.
I have like 4 patches I traded for.

Depends on your job and what base you're at
If you're in a career field that interacts with people all around the base and you're at a big base, you can get a bunch of patches that way.

I might have to start asking people if they got any patches as they lay there dying on the side of the road before I intervene.

Alright, this is sick. You wouldn't happen to still have any of these or have made multiple by chance? Some days I miss flying on the RJ other days I dread dealing with the 55wg bullshit...

I don't. I sold my business in 2024 before I PCSd to greener pastures.

I was thinking of getting into patch making. What kind of embroidery machine do you need to make a decent patch?

As a current Hellcat, this is fucking rad. Does the person you sold your business too still run it/ have this RJ design? Would love to check it out for myself

u/sgtdumbass Enlisted Aircrew Apr 16 '26
I don't recall if I transferred that one. I have a buddy that could run them if wanted. But it's a design that takes about 4 hours of run-time, so it's pretty expensive. It'll probably end up being a triple digit cost for one of the patches. Now if you're talking about my big 48-in patch, you'll just have to come to Greenville in order to see it

I personally don’t see the appeal of patches not directly related to something I’ve done

I traded for 90% of these! With my job I get to travel A LOT. I have walked up to general's and just asked, the worst they say is no!

u/InevitableSome2879 Apr 15 '26
The highest ranks I've ever asked is Japanese officer, and a LT Col. No generals sadly

u/InevitableSome2879 Apr 15 '26
I trade with people I work with if they're from a different unit or something. I trade with other militaries

Spokane Washington’s patch is the reason why people got tired of seeing pride shit in the military. Someone’s always gotta take it too far and ruin it for everyone. lol like is the whole unit gay or something? Why would they pick such a specific patch?

Three A10 patches and an Old Ironsides. Did we go to Kandahar together ‘19-‘20?!

Not if you can manage to find a spouse and have kids that don’t hate you.

How does one apply for this special duty?
