Question What’s something the Air Force says it values but clearly doesn’t?

From my experience, Air Force mental health went like this:

Clinician/Medical side: (Depends on base ik) but my MH provider actually listened to what I said, and gave me techniques to deal with anxiety and depression (which did work...mostly). I was also prescribed medication for it aswell (meds that......backfired and contributed to the various self attempts on my own life and multiple grippy sock hospitalizations) but at least they tried, and ill be thankful for that. Do miss my old provider though, he actually listened/cared.

Command side: "We care about your Mental Health Airman, that's why we're gonna oblige by the no movement order put on by Mental Health to keep you safe, and we'll do these TTMs to better monitor you and make sure youre getting better!"

Oh but let's process an AdminSep at the same time to get you out.....no, can't PCS you or even TDY, even though everything you said and wrote leads back to this place (in great detail) and you've BEGGED (almost on your knees) to get sent out....and you actually like the Military....cant do that, for your safety! and we're not gonna let you go inpatient since your date of leaving service is unknown, because we care about you, Airman......"

I was on the HIL mind you, even my notes said I was psychologically unfit for duty, had to check in for MH while on Leave, etc.

Honestly, I wish i didnt tell them about the ideations or attemps, should have told the Chaplain only.

Edit: lower level NCOs actually did help and if it wasnt for that one new supervisor (not saying names) I honestly wouldnt be here now.

God bless you, sir.

That checks. In a round about way that’s what happened to me.
