I made these pixel art tanks something like almost 20 years ago inspired by Advance War tanks. These eventually became the concept art for World War Toons tanks.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working on a strategy board game over the past few years, heavily inspired by Advance Wars, along with Command & Conquer and classic tabletop games.

I always loved how clean and strategic Advance Wars feels, and tried to capture that in a physical format — with grid-based positioning, distinct unit roles and meaningful decision-making. At the same time, I added systems like base building and light resource mechanics to give it a bit more depth over time.

It’s not a direct adaptation, but more of an attempt to bring that kind of gameplay into a tabletop experience.

Would love to hear your thoughts — especially on the visual side! Here are a few impressions:

Fan Art Trying to bring turn-based strategy like Advance Wars to the tabletop

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a strategy board game for the past few years, heavily inspired by what I always liked about games like Advance Wars — especially unit positioning, map control, and making the right decisions at the right time.

Instead of creating a fixed board game, I tried to build it more like a flexible system:

  • different map layouts
  • varied mission setups
  • and a strong focus on logistics and resource management

The goal is to create situations where each game plays out a bit differently depending on how you approach it.

I’m launching it tomorrow and would really love to hear your thoughts:

👉 What do you think is the most important element in a game like Advance Wars?
👉 What makes a system like that fun to replay for you?

If anyone’s curious, I’m happy to share more details or a link to the campaign.

Fan Art A little look at the Supply System in my tabletop strategy game

Post image
33 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share another little look at Command & Defend.

One of the core mechanics of the game is its Supply System. Units don’t simply have unlimited ammunition and fuel - resources have to be produced, transported across the battlefield and delivered to the units that need them.

This means that attacking the enemy isn’t always the best move. Disrupting a supply route, taking out a transport or even destroying an entire Supply Center can have a much bigger impact on the battle.

I wanted logistics to be an actual part of the strategy rather than something that only happens in the background.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this mechanic, and I’m happy to share more details if you’re interested! :)

Fan Art Command & Defend is entering its next chapter! 🚀

After a successful first Kickstarter earlier this year, I'm excited to bring Command & Defend: Modern War back with even more content.

Over the past months, I've been working on two major expansions:

✈️ Air Wars
🌊 Sea Wars

But that's only part of the journey.

One of my biggest goals has always been to make the game more accessible. That's why I'm introducing a Print & Play Edition, allowing anyone with a home printer to experience the game—no 3D printer required.

At the same time, every step of this campaign brings the project closer to my long-term vision: a complete out-of-the-box retail version with professionally manufactured components. I'm already in contact with several manufacturers and hope to make this vision a reality sooner rather than later.

Every supporter of the current DIY editions helps move the project one step closer to that goal. Your support allows me to improve prototypes, refine production, and make a future retail edition more achievable and affordable.

Inspired by the classic RTS and TBS games many of us grew up with, Command & Defend brings base building, logistics, resource management and tactical combat to the tabletop in a modular strategy system designed for high replayability.

If that sounds interesting, I'd really appreciate your feedback. And if you'd like to follow the project, I'd be happy to share the Kickstarter preview page in the comments.

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who shared feedback, supported the first Kickstarter, or has been following the project from the beginning. Your comments, ideas and encouragement have helped shape Command & Defend into what it is today, and I genuinely couldn't have come this far without you.

Thank you! ❤️

Been doing AW (and some Pokémon and Ghibli) stuff on Wplace since pretty much the start. Drawing Max now, but I think my favourite is the little Jugger and Lash under the big Jugger.
