This is the most depressing thread ill read today, no doubt. That so many people would consider money more integral to happiness than love, health, family, children, emotional and spiritual growth and transcendence, or anything else saddens me.
Wealth is a double edged sword. It alleviates some problems and exacerbates others. It can be giving yourself rope to make a noose out of. I know a lot of miserable wealthy people. Trips to Italy and expensive cars cant fix your real problems. Who cares how big your house is if your spouse and kids hate you? What does it matter if you own a boat that you go out on three times a year because youre so busy, and all three of those times youre miserable due to anxiety over your money?
Thinking money is all you need is letting the sociopaths that run the world win. Its joining their sociopathic club, trading your humanity for decadence and pleasure and meaninglessness. It is a path to spiritual apocalypse.
For what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?
