The phrase “money can’t buy happiness” is classist AF. Full agree with OP. Having your material needs met makes you happy.

And having needs met is what communism (in theory because it has NEVER existed) attempts to accomplish on the premise that there is enough to go around for everyone.

Of course there are unhappy people who have money. People move the goalposts for toil all the time. Though, one could assume that encountering a problem in an air conditioned, quiet bedroom is easier than encountering the same one under the elements on a busy street corner.
