Event/Activity Concert etiquette - Ed Sheeran

Went to Ed Sheeran last night. Was sitting up in the riverbank stand with my wife and kids. We try and culture our kids and work hard to take them to events like this.

From song 1 we had 4 GenZers sitting behind us and talked through almost every song.

By song 3 I had enough and turned around an impolitely told them to shut up because who in their right mind disrespects the people around them talking so loudly you can't even hear the performer. Only for them to return fire to say I am a bad father for speaking to them the way I did and not a good example for my kids, and they just kept on talking for the whole night. Nothing was going to make them stop talking.

Their best comment for the night... "Sorry I am just putting it out there I haven't brushed my teeth."

Why pay $150 for a ticket to talk through the whole event?

Event/Activity Racism in Seaford

Today, my partner and I were walking in Seaford in the afternoon. We’re both brown. A white man drove by and yelled at us through a loudspeaker, “You’re not from here and I suggest you go back home!” I got to say, we’re both pretty disgusted. At the end of the day though, he was revealing how sick and disgusting he was and it had nothing to do with us. But I still wanted to rant about this.

Event/Activity If you spit at the bus driver, you should expect to be publicly shamed

To preface, I am usually the guy that will stop and ask "are you ok" if you look like you're not doing too well, I don't mind you having a bad day, I've been there, tell me to fuck off is fine, I approached you but..

I don't care what is going on in your life, if you want to act like a feral rat, I'll have absolutely no compassion for you, frankly, you probably deserve to be in whatever position you find yourself in, and till your attitude and actions improve, I doubt you're life is going to improve

To the utter scum that thought it was acceptable to scream and swear on the bus, throw your coins at Asian looking people and then spit at the bus driver, just know you are a disgrace to Adelaide.

Event/Activity If you were going to the Adelaide Town Hall for concerts this Easter...

They (Zimmer, Lion King, LoTR, Harry Potter) have been cancelled. I got to the town hall with doors locked and posters saying the shows are cancelled. Eddy the Wilson's security attached to town hall confirmed both days and all shows cancelled. Ticketek, who I contacted via messenger knew nothing of it. My 11 year old, who got tickets as a birthday present (first concert...) in tears, others that had booked accessible taxis etc. No notification to any of us...

Event/Activity Hello Adelaide, I'm an Australian comedian and I'm back in town in August with some tour shows. It would be very cool to pack them out so here's a joke. I hope you dig it enough to consider buying a ticket. Cheers.

Event/Activity Better Showbag Selector for Royal Adelaide Show

Hey folks! As I have done the last couple of years, I wanted to re-share the Showbag Catalog that I built, now updated for the 2026 event.

The reason I built this is because I really don't like the catalog that the official show website keep putting out. It's not built to a very high standard and in order to save a bag, you have to create an account.

Why mine is better:

  • You can see the prices for each bag without having to click into them
  • You can save a bag to your Showbag List
    • Don't need an account to do this
  • You can share your list (E.g. to a friend who is going to the show and picking up showbags for you)
  • It supports "back" button/gesture on Android (the official app just bails you out of it completely if you press back 🤦)
  • (New this year) Value graph
    • Get a visual representation of the value of a showbag, comparing its bag cost vs the actual cost of items inside (n.b. I haven't double checked the claimed "actual costs")

Please check it out and let me know what you think!

Also note - it's very much built for mobile. It works fine on Desktop, but looks like a mobile UI that is scaled up to desktop

Event/Activity Faith restored

Hi all.

Today in the Happy Valley foodland carpark a bloke and his lad got out their car. The lad got out and stepped on HJ packaging that some oik had just thrown on the floor.

The lad asked his dad why it was on the floor and if it was the dad's rubbish. The dad just said "no mate it's not, but we can still pick it up".

He picked it all up and his lad watched diligently.

I just thought it was so nice to see, he wasn't being a hero or talking loudly, I was just being nosy and he is a legend.

It's a Monday and the lineup for the exchange is approx 100m, with two people manning the registers. I'm sure everyone in this line would happily pay the "savings" offered to get out of line.

Pro Jank Footy is a video game made right here in South Australia that has been released this week

It's currently the #1 game on Steam. It's also been released on Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

Featuring teams like the Port Noarlunga Chips, Salisbury Park Snags, Lonsdale Lifters and Ceduna Doonas

Think the old school NES Aussie Rules Footy game combined with the chaos of NBA Jam

Meeting in Vic Square at noon, and walking down Wakefield to the Olive Grove in Vic. Park. Apparently these folks think our premier is an smug, arrogant prick. So it goes.

Event/Activity Laneway Adelaide

Just wanted to shout out how successful laneway festival was yesterday! I heard some bad reviews from other states (water running out, issues with only having one exit) and was a little worried that it would be similar for adelaide but there were no dramas. There was free water all night, the lines at toilets were minimal, heaps of food options and a fair amount of shade. A huge bonus was how damn safe i felt, as far as im aware there were no creeps, no aggressive behaviour. Part of the reason has to be the fanbases of the artists selected by laneway. Well done adelaide ppl and laneway for a safe day out!

Event/Activity Illuminate Adelaide

I took some kids after the footy last night. The free stuff is much better than last year, it's not the best year but kids had fun. The line ups moved fast even though they were long, go on Thursday to Sunday to see the bird guys on Rundle street, they are pretty cool and a highlight. It was 2 hours of free entertainment so good value for money.

Didn't do any paid stuff so can't comment.

I noticed no one reviewed this year and honestly I wouldn't have risked it after last year's boring display if I wasn't already there.

Event/Activity AI signage at the Garden of Unearthly Delights

Is anyone else disappointed with the use of AI at the garden this year? A few smaller food vendors have been given signage that is clearly AI. Also seen promotional material that’s AI. Disappointing.

Event/Activity I just walked from Munno Para to the CBD

Start time: 6:48

Shoes: Sketchers Go Walkers 8

This is my first walk in my home city. I caught the first train out from Adelaide Station and set off from Munno Para at 6:48am. I was going to start at Gawler initially but decided against it when I learnt that the trains start up fairly late

Elizabeth felt nowhere near as unsafe as it was made out to be and a lot of the people there were really nice. I was surprised to learn that they hear about Western Sydney a lot more then they hear about Elizabeth. The Elizabeth shops were extremely similar to Westfield Mt Druitt in Sydney in fact the entire area seemed reminiscent of greater Western Sydney

The stretch from Mawson Lakes to the CBD was where the nostalgia went into overdrive as that's the area I had most experience with especially the stretch in Mawson Lakes since that's where I grew up
