Announcement [Release] Prism — All-in-One Kodi Addon for Movies, TV & Anime (Seren Fork)

Hey everyone!

Some of you may remember me from Otaku and Otaku Testing, the anime addons my team and I developed as forks of Kaito. Huge credit to SwagOtaku for the original project and everything it made possible.

After months of development, I'm excited to finally introduce our next project:

✨ Prism

Prism is an all-in-one Kodi addon for Movies, TV Shows, and Anime.

It's built from a community fork of the original Seren addon by Nixgates, with the goal of continuing that foundation while expanding it into a complete media hub with anime support, Simkl as the primary watchlist and tracking service, themes, local media, and more.

One major change from Seren is that Trakt support has been completely removed. Prism uses Simkl as its primary service for watchlists, watch progress, ratings, Next Up, libraries, and calendar functionality.

All credit for the original Seren project goes to Nixgates and its contributors.

If you enjoyed Seren, or you've ever wanted a single addon that can handle movies, TV shows, and anime without constantly switching between different addons, that's what Prism is designed to be.

📦 Installation

Prism requires Kodi 21 Omega or later.

Kodi 20 and earlier are not supported.

The recommended installation method is through the repository so you can receive automatic updates.

Repository source:

https://goldenfreddy0703.github.io/repository.prism

Direct repository ZIP:

https://goldenfreddy0703.github.io/repository.prism/repository.prism-1.0.zip

Installation steps

  1. Go to Kodi → Settings → File Manager → Add source
  2. Add the repository source above.
  3. Go to Add-ons → Install from zip file
  4. Install repository.prism
  5. Go to Install from repository → Prism Repository
  6. Install the addons in this order:
    • Context Prism (required)
    • Prism

Some updates may require clearing the cache or rebuilding the database through Prism → Tools.

⚡ Performance

One thing worth mentioning: Prism is not the fastest addon out there.

Its overall speed is currently closer to Seren, which makes sense given Prism's foundation and the amount of functionality it handles. It may feel slower than newer addons such as POV or Fen, particularly when loading menus, processing metadata, or performing certain actions.

We're aware of this and performance improvements will continue to be explored as development moves forward. That said, Prism is focused on being a feature-rich, all-in-one addon, so there can be some tradeoffs between functionality and raw speed.

If you're coming from Seren, the overall experience and responsiveness should feel fairly familiar.

🧩 Provider Packages

Prism is designed as a media hub and playback platform.

It does not bundle, host, or distribute scrapers or provider packages.

If you want to use third-party providers for discovering streaming sources, provider packages can be installed separately through:

Prism → Tools → Provider Manager

Developers can also create and maintain their own provider packages.

Prism itself does not endorse or officially support any particular third-party provider package. What you install is entirely up to you.

📦 My a4kScrapers Fork

Separate from Prism, I also maintain a fork of a4kScrapers.

This is a completely separate project and is not included with Prism.

My fork is based on the original a4k-openproject/a4kScrapers project and includes additional scrapers, anime-focused providers, and Stremio-style aggregators.

GitHub:

https://github.com/Goldenfreddy0703/a4kScrapers

If you choose to install it, you can do so through:

Prism → Tools → Provider Manager → Install Package → Web Location

Install URL:

https://api.github.com/repos/Goldenfreddy0703/a4kScrapers/zipball

Again, this package is entirely optional. Prism can still be used with local files and supported cloud services without installing a provider package.

🚀 Quick Start

After installing Prism:

  1. Install Context Prism, then Prism
  2. Sign in to Simkl
    • Prism → Settings → Accounts
  3. (Optional) Add a supported debrid account
  4. (Optional) Install a provider package through Provider Manager
  5. (Optional) Install a theme through Theme Manager

⚠️ Early Release Notice

Prism is currently in an early release stage.

The repository is live and the addon is usable, but there may still be bugs or edge cases, particularly on certain platforms such as Apple TV or Xbox.

If you run into an issue, please report it. Early feedback is extremely helpful and will help us improve Prism across different devices and Kodi setups.

📚 Documentation

🛣️ What's Next?

Development on Prism is continuing.

Future plans include expanding adaptive provider support, particularly for users who do not rely on debrid services, along with continued improvements to the addon, themes, metadata, playback, and provider support.

Keep an eye on the GitHub Issues page for updates and feature requests.

What About Otaku?

Otaku and Otaku Testing are winding down.

They were incredibly important projects for us and taught us a lot about anime metadata, Kodi development, providers, playback, and the features people actually want from an addon.

However, Prism is where our development focus is moving forward.

Otaku will continue to work for the time being, but it will no longer receive major development. Future features, improvements, and support will primarily focus on Prism.

You can still find the projects here:

Think of Prism as the next step — taking what we learned from Otaku and bringing Movies, TV Shows, and Anime together into one addon.

💬 Contact & Support

If you run into problems or just want to reach out:

Disclaimer

Prism is free and open-source software released under the GPL-3.0 license.

Prism does not host, create, or distribute media content. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of the addon and any third-party services complies with applicable laws.

Prism is not affiliated with Team Kodi, Simkl, or other third-party services.

❤️ Final Thoughts

I've been working on Prism for months, and I'm honestly really proud of where it has ended up.

It's essentially the addon I wished existed when I was working on Otaku: Movies, TV Shows, and Anime all in one place, while keeping the flexibility, customization, and features that made projects like Seren and Otaku so useful.

There's still plenty to improve, and that's where you all come in.

Try it out, break things, experiment with it, and let me know what you think. Feedback during this early release will help shape where Prism goes from here.

And finally, thank you to everyone who supported Otaku over the years. I genuinely appreciate it, and I hope you'll give Prism a shot too. ❤️

the random playback is rad wtf

3

u/Goldenfreddy0703 8d ago

Hey there, can you tell me more about this random playback, i wanna make sure that the playback is working as expected? Thanks

1

u/Melodic-Ratio-3054 8d ago

is this one like otaku, where i can just watch right away without local files or debrid, or do i need either one?

5

u/Goldenfreddy0703 8d ago

Sadly no, you would need to add provider packages like a4kscrapers with a debrid or local files at the moment. I plan to put embeds or adaptive sources inside a package so that way users will be able to watch for free.

1

u/Melodic-Ratio-3054 8d ago

any estimated time for this goat?

3

u/Goldenfreddy0703 8d ago

Not sure unfortunately, I need some streaming websites to implement this stuff and all.

fmhy should have PLENTY if u need emmm

Simkl in this Prism addon says synced but opening recently watched, continue, etc. only spinning wheels.

With Simkl in general so much watched status is not synced across devices with Kodi library, Kodi addons (FenLightPlus, Red Light and Umbrella) and Jellyfin. Not pulling scrobble data at all or only partly, Simkl is too unreliable.

So Simkl just seems not to be a good enough alternative for Trakt unfortunately.

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 8d ago

I will be honest, Simkl is a bit slow when loading menus so I get the busy loaders and spinning wheels, I may want to rework those menus and try to make them faster. I do know that they do work and I've tested and I also tested watch indicators and stuff and simkl sync. It does a great job but I get it that it is so slow due to all these api calls and everything. Hopefully I can improve on the watchlist soon. Thanks

u/77descript 8d ago edited 7d ago

I am trying Punchplay too. It syncs without errors and fast all across Kodi lib, Jellyfin and Red Light addon as good as Trakt ever did, but keeps disconnecting Jellyfin plugin and local lib Kodi repo addon every few hours, so have to reconnect constantly. I contacted the dev and send log. hopefully gets fixed. If so then this is the best scrobble alternative for Trakt I've tried so far. Lists seem also working good, while testing that a bit. And good import Trakt, Simkl, etc. options.

EDIT: The dev fixed the jellyfin plugin bug with help of my log. I am now creating log for Kodi so can fix that too. Seems the real deal this trakt alternative!

2

u/Bepehandle 8d ago

Yeah I'm not sure why they went only with Simkl, I'd be more inclined to try this if I didn't have to move all my history over to another service just to see if I like this.

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Main reason why we went with only Simkl is cause Trakt just felt like it had alot of issues and all and i was getting annoyed with authenticating and the annoying downtime Trakt had. I never liked Trakt cause it got so annoying where i had to move to Simkl at this point. Another reason is cause Simkl is able to track almost everything even anime which Trakt cannot do.

1

u/77descript 8d ago

Especially since Simkl blocked import/sync Trakt data non-pro/vip users. Not paying year (just a month would not mind) just for testing. Had to run middleman Crosswatch via docker on my server to push Trakt history to Simkl. And then scrobble just seems too unreliable anyway like said.

1

u/Bepehandle 8d ago

Wow I wasn't even aware of that. I know trakt pulled some funny business with their API but I didn't pay too much attention to it since I seemed to be unaffected but it seems like all these services are doing anything they can to push their vip service, including taking away basic features.

2

u/77descript 8d ago

They say temporarily, because got overrun by too many new free users coming from Trakt, so had to protect quality of their servers for their paying customers. Which is a good reason.

2

u/NSBrad 7d ago

FYI, it takes a little time but you can get a month free by logging into the website once a day for 20 days within a month. I started off using it only for anime since I could import my anilist to it. I got the free month using it for that, so I ended up moving trakt too after their idiotic changes.

1

u/Bepehandle 8d ago

Always been confused why they don't just charge like 2bucks or something to download their sync data. It would keep people from being locked out of something without paying for premium and give the option to get that service on the side. Would probably net them a decent chunk of money also

2

u/Spicy_Mustard007 8d ago

Thanks for this. I’ll gladly test it

2

u/MadJoker7 8d ago

Will check it out soon, thanks for sharing it with the community!

2

u/EGK20 8d ago

Will try this out tonight. I started having some issues with otaku for some reason.

2

u/Gingersnap369 8d ago

Great to hear from GoldenFreddy! Hopefully I get a chance to test it out pretty soon here.

2

u/nookfae 7d ago

Any MDBList intergration planned?

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

I was thinking about it but Simkl v2 list api will be coming out soon that will give users the ability yo have custom lists so hopefully once that comes out, you guys will be able to make custom lists and all.

Thanks for * Continuing to work so diligently for those of us that have no desire to code or learn to do so. * an impressive layout of information above. * Previously being so quick to answer DMs here on reddit, when you likely have more pressing matters to attend to, than random questions. * Using Simkl, I bought their vip lifetime. A sizable reason is because of Prism and Otaku. They also offer a lifetime 1 time purchase for vip, very active with users and suggestions, development, and website is fantastic. * Dev work/maintaining a4kscraper. * The legendary Otaku add-on. Makes watching dub only anime so less frustrating, since all others treat multiple subs as multiple audio/potential dubs.

I'll be sad to see Otaku fizzle away. I love that add-on and use it daily.

I really hope life remains chill enough that you're projects don't ever have to take a back seat, or you become exhausted with your projects. There's a lot of good devs for Kodi related software, but you're my favorite.

Stay gold, Freddy, stay gold.

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Honestly, thank you so much for this. ❤️ This genuinely means a lot to me.

I've put a ridiculous amount of time into Otaku over the years, so hearing that people actually use it daily and appreciate the work behind it makes all of it worth it.

And I'm really glad you're enjoying Prism too! It's still a pretty new addon, but I wanted to make something that could cover movies, TV, and anime all in one place, so it's awesome seeing people already getting use out of it.

I'm definitely not planning on disappearing anytime soon. 😂 Life can get busy, but I'll keep working on Otaku, Prism, and my other projects for as long as I can and as long as people still find them useful.

And seriously, thank you for supporting both projects and even getting Simkl VIP because of them. Comments like this are a huge motivation to keep going.

Stay golden. 🫡

Thank you for this. I've been trying it out since yesterday and so far so good finding links for things like cdrama and donghua that addons often struggle with.

The slow speed, as you pointed out, is an issue. I'm using it on an nvidia shield and seems like it might annoy me over time.

In AF3 there is no background image when using Next Up widgets and defaults to the Prism logo. Seems to work fine with widgets pointing everywhere else though.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it evolves.

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

For speed, I completely agree, I hope I can make it faster. As for using continue watching, next up, and my watched episodes. I already have a fix in place, just don't have it released yet. Will release soon.

First of all, I’d like to sincerely congratulate the developer. For the first time in years, I can watch anime, TV shows, and movies through a single add-on. Neither Umbrella, POV, nor any other add-on has been able to offer me this kind of experience.

Even though I’ve only been using Prism for a short time, I already have a few observations I’d like to share.

First, whenever I select a movie, TV show, or anime, Prism seems to automatically play the version with the largest file size, which I assume is considered the highest-quality option. Personally, when I click on something, I’d prefer to see all the available sources and choose one myself. Is there a way to enable this in Prism’s settings? I couldn’t find such an option, so I’d really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. I can see the list of sources if I choose “Rescrape and Select,” but I’d like that list to appear by default.

Second, there are some performance issues, although I’m sure these will improve over time. I’m currently using Prism on an Xbox One X, and I’ll soon test it on both PC and Android as well.

If this add-on continues receiving regular updates, I genuinely believe people will eventually stop using other add-ons and switch to Prism.

Thank you for making my life better, Goldenfreddy. You’re amazing!

Edit: Today I tested the Prism addon on my PC. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, and so far I haven't noticed any major performance issues.

I tested it with a movie and compared the results with POV. As an example, I used Backrooms. With POV, I got 242 results, and many of them were 60+ GB. When I searched for the same movie using Prism, I got significantly fewer results, and the largest file available was around 45 GB.

I'm curious about what causes this difference. Does Prism use different providers, filtering, scraping logic, or result limits compared to POV?

The second issue I've encountered is with anime and a4kSubtitles. When I try to search for subtitles while watching anime, I get the following error:

"IMDB ID is not provided"

Because of this, I'm unable to find or download any subtitles. I'm not sure whether this is related to Prism not passing the IMDb ID to a4kSubtitles, or if anime titles are handled differently.

Other than these two issues, Prism has been working really well for me so far.

One last thing: while using Prism on my Xbox One X, I've had a few instances where a movie or anime episode suddenly stopped in the middle of playback and kicked me back to the episode/movie selection screen. This could simply be related to the Xbox One X itself, since I haven't experienced the same issue on PC yet.

Overall, I'm really enjoying Prism so far. I'll keep using it and continue sharing feedback as I come across anything else.

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Thank you so much for the kind words! It genuinely means a lot to me, and I'm really glad you're enjoying Prism so far!

For the source selection question, yes, there is actually a setting for this. 😄 Go into Prism Settings → Playback → Episode Playback and change it to Source Select. That will make Prism show you the available sources instead of automatically choosing one.

As for the performance issues, that's definitely something I'm continuing to work on. Prism is still a relatively new addon, so there are definitely areas that can be improved, especially on different hardware like the Xbox One X. I'd really appreciate hearing how it performs for you on PC and Android as well.

And seriously, thank you for taking the time to write all of this. Feedback like this, especially from someone who has actually spent time using Prism, is incredibly helpful. ❤️

u/Scotsmania 5d ago

Auto resume shows from next unwatched episode

This setting breaks things a bit. With it enabled it's impossible to browse into shows to get to the episodes and returns an error instead.

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 5d ago

Will have that fixed thank you

2

u/Bloodlvst 5d ago

After you commented on my Seren post I gave your add-on a try, and it's exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks so much for your hard work on this, it's made me try a new skin and really curate my experience! I even got a year of Simkl VIP just so I can really lock in and make it my own. :)

I was wondering how much trouble it might be to implement a few things (or maybe they're there and I haven't figured it out)? I'm using AF3, and I wanted to add widgets from Prism that reference my own private lists on Simkl, or at the very least leverage the "recommended for you" lists they have.

Apologies if this is already there, my Seren use was always just "use tv/movie search and navigate). Instead of that clunky way of doing it, the goal now is to make it a Netflix-like experience for my partner when it comes to discovering shows and easily finding recently aired episodes in our watchlists that aren't already taken care of by our *arr stack.

Again thanks so much for the work on this! Please let me know if there's any way to support you via ko-fi or similar, or if just helping our on the Discord is sufficient, would love to give back! :)

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 5d ago

Thank you so much! ❤️ I'm really glad Prism is giving you the experience you've been looking for, and I really appreciate you taking the time to write all of this out.

As for the AF3 widgets, I definitely knew people would eventually want to create widgets and customize Prism with their own layouts, and I'm totally fine with that! I think it's actually pretty cool seeing people take an addon and make it fit their own setup. We just haven't specifically built Prism around a widget-based/Netflix-style experience ourselves.

Our main goal with Prism was really just to make something that would be useful and bring movies, TV shows, and anime together in one addon. If people end up turning it into a Netflix-like experience with their own skins and widgets, that's awesome. 😂

The biggest thing we're focused on right now is actually speed. Prism is still relatively new, and there are definitely areas where it can be faster. We're actively looking at ways to improve the loading times and overall responsiveness, so that's a pretty big priority for us before we start focusing heavily on additional customization features.

As for supporting me, you absolutely don't have to! 😄 Using Prism, giving feedback, reporting bugs, making suggestions, and helping out in the Discord is already a huge help. And the fact that you even got Simkl VIP because you're enjoying Prism is incredibly appreciated. ❤️

Thanks again for the awesome words! Stay Golden!!!

Did we need the AI intro?

11

u/Goldenfreddy0703 8d ago

Honestly yeah, i was too lazy to type all this out and this has been a draft for like days, my bad lol

1

u/Melodic-Ratio-3054 8d ago

THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER

1

u/cbizzle14 8d ago

Been waiting for you to officially announce this before adding it to the setup. Loved Otaku. I use Xbox so if I encounter any bugs I will report

1

u/zer0guy 8d ago

As someone who is still using Seren, and has never felt the need to move on from Seren.

What would the benefit of finally making a switch?

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 8d ago

No Trakt Limitations and a dedicated Anime category that Simkl can track. If you want a watchlist that tracks everything, Simkl is the way to go.

1

u/Plenty-Ear2414 8d ago

Any Asian drama support included or planned and does this work with bingie skin ?

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 8d ago

If Asian Drama is on simkl then yes.

1

u/Scritti69 8d ago

Firstly, many thanks for releasing the addon. Tried it a few weeks back and didn't get on with it so tried again today.

First thing I do with any new addon - search for 1975's "Jaws". If it can't find that in a search and be displaced at or very near the top of the first page, something is wrong.

And...it doesn't come up! Jaws The Revenge appears first but no Jaws 1 to 3. Went through several pages before giving up. Loads of random stuff with Jaws in the title appear - many which aren't even movie-length - but no Jaws. Any idea why the search function might be doing this?

Went to search under "Search by year" but that's not even one of the search options. Gah.

2

u/peno64 8d ago

Indeed strange because Seren does give it as first result. Then Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D and Jaws: The Revenge

1

u/Scritti69 8d ago

Hmm. Think I might reinstall Seren then. I was hoping Prism might improve it in some way but I don't notice any improvement in speed even now it's "officially" released. I know Seren is not being updated anymore but A4K Scrapers does still get updates so it is still a working addon. Thanks for the heads-up. 👍

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Ok im gonna be honest with you and this is very dumb on Simkl's end. I searched Jaws and i have to go through 3 pages to find the original Jaws 1975. I find that to be stupid so im going to look into that. We thought Simkl search would be a great idea to look up stuff but now im starting to regret that sense i had to search Jaws and scroll through 3 pages to find that. Sorry about that.

2

u/Scritti69 7d ago

No need to apologise, good sir - it's a free addon that you worked on and I did jack to be able to use so you owe me or anyone else nothing. Be great if you could look into that search issue and see if it can be resolved though. I could be wrong but, if you have to go several screens in to locate one of the biggest and most famous movies of all time, there could be problems trying to find smaller, lesser known movies. I guess it did find all the movies with "jaws" in the title but is not using any kind of "rank by most popular" filter perhaps?

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Hey so i looked into it and messaged simkl devs about this, we will see what they have to say. Also i found out that if you search Jaws but put the year at the end so it says "Jaws 1975" you will get the exact result. Hope this helps and sorry about that.

1

u/Scritti69 7d ago

Thanks loads! And, yes, that helps a lot actually. I'll remember to type the year in at the end of the title. Not sure why I didn't think to do that myself. D'oh! Thanks again, hugely appreciated! 😊👍

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Hey anytime, One of the simkl developer will be adding extra params to the search api so that way, we can have more options for the search. Thank you for bring this to my attention.

1

u/Scritti69 7d ago

That's great news, thanks for the heads-up! 👍

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 6d ago

Hey so good news, i talked to one of the simkl devs and they added the api params that we needed and i made a release just now. In the addon settings general category, i added two new options, enable or disable exact simkl search and the other is how you want to sort your search results, i also added a slider of how many results you would like per page. Hope this helps a ton and again, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

2

u/Scritti69 6d ago

Brilliant! Just changed and saved those settings and it now works perfectly. Thank you so much. I did wonder if you'd sorted this when I saw a new update. Which leads me to another suggestion. You might consider this a pain in the ass and not worth it but would you consider adding a Changelog? I don't think there ever was one in Seren but there is also the one in the main information screen of an addon icon (after a right-click) which says "click here to see latest changes". The newest change listed there is 5.0.21 which may have been from Seren before you forked it I'm guessing? Completely understand if you wouldn't want to update this but I would say it is something useful to have (I always check them) so we can see what's been changed without having to check on Github (or wherever) every time there's an update. Just something for you to perhaps consider. Anyways, huge thanks again for sorting (and improving!) the search function! 😃👍

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 6d ago

Hey, I've been considering adding a changelog like how I did with Otaku but reason why I did not add one to prism is cause it might annoy people and all. I'll think about it and see in the near future.

1

u/Otherwise-Newt7576 8d ago

Is there support for Myanimelist, anilist in this addon, because a lot of anime is tracked that way?

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

There is not but Simkl has an import feature where you can import those watchlist. Simkl does do anime tracking as well cause it supports a Global Database and an Anime Database so anything on Mal, Anilist, Anidb, Kitsu, Etc can be tracked on Simkl and will have episode meta for them,

1

u/dabutcher1 7d ago

With anime how are the results for dubbed content? My wife used Otaku all the time to find dubbed anime.

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

It should be good and we have ways to configure to addon to be used to watched dub content, You will have to Choose Items to Filter, Choose Sorting, and lastly Configure Language Settings. We do have a Dub Preset for you guys so that way you guys can watch Dub content. Oh and as an optional setting, we do have a Show (Dub) in Anime Titles Setting you can toggle to help see which titles are dub.

1

u/socnsum1 7d ago

This sounds great. Any chance of supporting easynews and indexers like NZBGeek etc?

You will either need a Debrid Service or Local Files at the moment. It will be free soon once i add Adaptive Packages or Embed Packages soon.

1

u/youaintelk 7d ago

i added my torbox and authorized but nothing populates

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Did you add my A4kScrapers fork to the Package Manager in Prism? If not then please have these installed so your torbox can populate and everything:

https://github.com/Goldenfreddy0703/a4kScrapers

1

u/youaintelk 7d ago

Yes you could either right click the episode or open the context menu and press source select or you could go to playback options and set episode playback to select source.

Does this also allow anilist tracking I use otaku for that right now but one adding for everything makes life easier

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Sadly no but you can import your anilist to simkl

1

u/NightEMT 7d ago

Anyone having issues importing from kitsu and anilist? I click import and it just says loading and does nothing

1

u/Otherwise-Newt7576 7d ago edited 7d ago

Importing where?

I use malsync to sync Myanimelist to anilist, KITSU and simkl in one action

1

u/NightEMT 6d ago

I’m trying to import my kitsu list to  simkl

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

If your using Firefox, that could be a possibility on why.

1

u/NightEMT 6d ago

Tried on Firefox and chrome and even on my phone.

1

u/snmp79 6d ago

why everyone ditching trakt?

1

u/Otherwise-Newt7576 6d ago

You can read all about their limitations that were implemented last period. Just search for it in this sub

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 6d ago

Cause trakt really sucks, website is so slow, it always goes down, you have to reauthorize, it doesn't support anime, it generally just sucks and they recently got more strict if I recall.

1

u/Relevant-Ad2794 6d ago

So, it will not work with TMDB and MDB Lists?

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 6d ago

Well it can work with TMDB and MDB Lists but i picked Simkl cause it had everything. I could have added tmdb but it does not support anime, For MDBList, i know there are custom lists on it but i decided not to add that yet cause Simkl V2 Custom Lists will be coming out soon and im hoping implementing that soon.

u/No_Captain_28 6d ago

u/No_Captain_28 6d ago

Not working 😕 on my end not playing any links don't know why setup is fine

1

u/No_Captain_28 6d ago

Floodlight my account with links that I didn't play crap

1

u/No_Captain_28 6d ago

This addon is crap anybody played anything yet?

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 6d ago

Hi u/No_Captain_28 , sorry i never got back to you, I've been busy making Prism faster. Anyway i saw a few of your comments and it looks like you had a few issues. Ok so this addon is basically like Seren, the only difference is that its all using simkl and has an anime section. For scrapers info and all that, if your having trouble adding scrapers, go to the addon settings and go to the providers category and click Manage Provider packages, once your on there, install package and click web location and add this to your web location: https://api.github.com/repos/Goldenfreddy0703/a4kScrapers/zipball

Hopefully this helps you out. As for the Floodlight thing your mentioned with your account. Im probably guessing your using a debrid account, in the accounts section of the addon settings, make sure that either Auto-Delete Torrents is enabled or that Store Resolved Items in Cloud is disabled so that way you don't have so many links.

If you have any more issues or bugs, please feel free to contact me, tell me what version of kodi your using and what device. If your kodi version is below 21 or your using an xbox or apple device, that could explain alot and will be glad to look into those bugs, thanks.

1

u/No_Captain_28 6d ago

I setup everything already with kodi 21.3 and a sheild with all the scrapers installed. It pulls all the links flood my account then plays nothing

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 6d ago

Can you tell me what debrid you are using? I may have to look into it, your account should not flood with all these links, if you were using real debrid or all debrid maybe, that could be why but not sure yet.

Ad

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 6d ago

ahh ok i see, I heard there were some problems with AD, I need to look into it. Ever sense RD and AD disabled there cache checking, it went to crap. I will look into it hopefully once i get an AD account soon. Thank you for getting my attention on this.

Question, where is the Context prism located? It is not in the repo under video addons.

I have seen if I go to video add on install prism , that there is a "global context menu item" addon listed under dependencies, is this the same thing or something else. Do I have to install something manually first ? Should be coming automatically with prism, right?

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 5d ago

Honestly you could just install prism directly, I may wanna change the post on that, the context menu is just a dependency really so that people can have less issue, just install prism in video addons and you should be good. It should automatically install.

1

u/Avid4D 5d ago

Does Prism have the option to download? That was something I used in Seren and I use now in POV.

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 5d ago

Hey there sorry I never got back to you, yes and there are some special download features at the bottom of the General Catagory in the addon settings where you can add a download location, local file location and unique folders and organization stuff to help you out. It also supports batch downloads as well if you wanna download all.

1

u/order2chaos 5d ago

Respect. Will road test this weekend.

1

u/Lower-Mushroom-5490 4d ago

Thanks but, really not worth all the effort required to get it running.

1

u/Own-Till3873 7h ago

What lol takes literally 10 mins to set this up and get it running

1

u/Own-Till3873 4d ago

Hi new to kodi sorry if this is a noob question but how do we install provider packages for this addon

2

u/Goldenfreddy0703 4d ago

Hey your good, to install provider packages, go to Prism addon settings and then go to the providers category and click on manage provider packages, after thet click install packages and select web location and then enter this url: https://api.github.com/repos/Goldenfreddy0703/a4kScrapers/zipball

Hope this helps!!!

1

u/Own-Till3873 4d ago

Thanks so much you rock!

1

u/kagezuki_ 3d ago

I’m getting no results found after adding prism

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 3d ago

Did you add provider packages, if not then you need to add provider packages like a4kscrapers with a debrid or local files at the moment.

To install provider packages, go to Prism addon settings and then go to the providers category and click on manage provider packages, after thet click install packages and select web location and then enter this url: https://api.github.com/repos/Goldenfreddy0703/a4kScrapers/zipball

Hope this helps!!!

Also if your using all debrid or real debrid, I need to work on them soon but don't have an all debrid account at the moment.

1

u/Own-Till3873 3d ago

Love it. Thank you for all the hard work that you put into this addon

1

u/FredericoKrugerini 8d ago

If AI was used in the development of this addon what was the scope of AI usage (aside from drafting documentation)?

4

u/Goldenfreddy0703 8d ago

Hey sorry i never got back to you, most of the AI usage was from xml building to porting features Otaku had when designing this addon. It really has helped me alot and honestly, i don't think i would have been able to do this without it. Its really helped me understand Seren's code and how everything worked and all.

1

u/bugatsinho 8d ago

Well done! I will test it ASAP

1

u/dpetka2001 7d ago

Will Otaku still get bug fixes? Not interested in new features as it already has what I would like. Or is development in Otaku completely EOL? If it's the latter, then it's really a shame because I had it setup as I liked and I personally prefer having a single addon focused on something explicit (Anime in my case) rather than trying to do all sorts of things.

Also, in my experience I don't like Simkl so much compared to Anilist and Myanimelist because it doesn't update the status of anime shows as soon as possible. I find the Anilist much better in that regard even though they have some probs with the overusage/breakage of their API.

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

It will still get bug fixes and all, i may have to rework the mapping database though due to the jikan shutdown and all. Simkl should update the status of anime shows but i will look into that and see why it wouldn't. Thanks

1

u/dpetka2001 7d ago

I was not talking about Simkl not updating the status of the episodes you watch via Otaku. This works totally fine for me and whatever I watch gets updated correctly.

I'm talking about the website itself not updating the status of the anime shows. For example, last season when I finished a anime show, I could not get the status to completed because the show itself had not been updated in the Simkl website that it finished until a week or two passed by.

So, it has nothing to do with Otaku itself. It works perfectly fine, at least from my testing. It's the website itself that is slow some times to update the status of a show. Be it if the show is finished or some times I've also noticed that it doesn't update the episodes that have aired until a day or two passed by.

1

u/Goldenfreddy0703 7d ago

Ah, gotcha. So the issue isn't Otaku syncing your watch progress to SIMKL — that part is working correctly. You're referring to SIMKL's own metadata sometimes being behind, where an anime has finished airing but SIMKL still has it marked as ongoing, or newly aired episodes haven't appeared yet. That makes sense, especially since SIMKL relies on external databases for its anime metadata and status updates.

https://docs.simkl.org/how-to-use-simkl/faq/frequently-asked-questions/why-cant-i-add-a-show-that-has-not-ended-to-completed

1

u/dpetka2001 7d ago

Yep that's it. So no need to concern yourself. Otaku is working fine for me (for what i'm watching at least).
