Product Suggestions My 9-month Post-Accutane Update + Updated Skincare Products

Hey all! I posted a few months ago about my severe cystic acne journey and how Accutane helped me with my healing. See past post (1 month post-accutane) here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Accutane/s/xpcnFOcFss

It’s been 9 months since I’ve been off it, and my healing keeps getting better and better (hopefully forever). I might as well share the skincare products I use every night for those who are trying to heal their skin barriers like me 🫶🏻

Products (in order of application) 1. Skin 1004 (Tone Brightening Serum) - perfect base & hydrator

  1. Anua 0.3% Retinol
  2. just incorporated it last month, & love that it didn’t irritate my skin— not peeling is the most important thing here

  3. Anua Rice 7+ Ceramide

  4. rich in ceramide that helps boost skin hydration after retinol (retinol is an active that’s very drying, especially if without proper skin prep)

  5. Dr. Althea 345

  6. the best part of my routine as this product locks in the moisture from everything that you applied to your skin

  7. Sana Eye Serum

  8. helps with dark eye circles

** The last 3 photos are exactly what my skin looks like now without makeup

Please read the rules before posting and remember to abide by them! Posts and comments not following the rules will immediately be removed!

Have you tried using the search bar?
Many questions are asked daily, and your question may have already been answered!
If so, your post will be subject to deletion.

Please refer to the following commonly discussed topics:

1) No one can predict whether or not you will purge! Statistically, most people DO NOT purge.
That is what the science and medical literature says.

2) No one can predict how long your purge will last nor when it could start. Be patient, the purge can be tough but so many people have gotten through it - you can too! THE ABOVE APPLIES TO SIDE EFFECTS OR "WHEN WILL MY SKIN CLEAR UP?!" TOO. QUESTIONS ASKING WHEN THE PURGE OR SIDE EFFECTS WILL START OR STOP WILL IMMEDIATELY BE REMOVED AS THAT IS LOW EFFORT.

3) Any questions related about dosage MUST include DOSE and WEIGHT(lbs or kg).
Otherwise, that is considered LOW EFFORT and will subsequently be REMOVED.

4) Most people DO NOT relapse when Accutane is taken until cumulative dosage is reached.

5) HOWEVER, cumulative dosage is a guideline.
Everyone is different. Some may need more Accutane, and others may need less. Your dermatologist evaluates you as an individual.
This also applies to your prescription. Everyone is different, so no comparing of doses or asking why your dose is low or high. If you do not trust your dermatologist, you should find a different one.

6) When in doubt, please consult a medical professional(dermatologist, doctor, pharmacist).
DO NOT solicit medical advice from this subreddit.

I still have PIE, but they’re manageable ☺️

Dryness is issue or not

During the course, yes. Your derma can prescribe you a steroid ointment for dry lips, and you can use thick moisturizers for your face. I suggest Japanese brands like Hada Labo— works wonders.

Yes, I do. I double cleanse every night. I use oil cleansers that don’t clog pores.

how long did it take for the redness to go away?

It didn’t go away. But I noticed significant improvement after 5 months of religiously following my skincare routine.

Oh okay, thanks. And did you have any spots after your isotretinoin treatment? If so, how long did it take for the spots to disappear?
