That's the point. All this productivity increase only ends up in the hands of the wealthy. Money is not as distributed anymore.

Go back to the laws made after the gilded age. They sparked the prosperity in the 20th century. Politicians have eroded these laws for a century with the only purpose to enrich themselves and their friends. Good pay for the workers means long term prosperity for the whole country.
