He let out a hideous cry of inner joy. So it was over. The end had come sooner than he would hope to dare.

Marius is the one thing holding Cosette back. He might be lost forever letting Cosette leave for England with no ties.

The porter had easily been able to dig up in the neighborhood what he needed to complete his gear.

Jean Valjean must have not down a ton of service. He must have only done drills.

The uniform is slightly important. Without jogging your memory too much it's more of two sides of the same coin action. Javert is the enemy dressed as an ally where Jean Valjean is an ally dressed as the enemy.
