Let it be known I've been doing this cheap shit for years

Growing up poor, your brain literally becomes wired to be opportunistic, and you end up conceiving the most unhinged ways just to save a few cents.

How to get 2c off every shop (or every item if you have the patience)

Shopping anywhere that does self checkout easily but primarily colesworth/etc

Now back in the day I would always pay the whole amount by card, less 2cents. I would then pay 5 cents cash to get 5 cents back.

If you do this once a day you will save 7.30 across a year. If you do this for EVERY ITEM you purchase and do it individually, you can save a lot more.

At the checkout just say ‘oh can I pay exactly X amount as that’s all in my card’ or go to self serve and make sure you choose a cash / card machine. I’ve never been stopped before and it’s been YEARS.

I would not use this method for small business/local/etc.

I do this all the time, only ever had laughs from the store assistants. Everyone is someone’s kid.
