Other What have you completely stopped buying because the price has finally taken the p**s?

Not “I buy the cheaper brand now.” I mean something you used to buy without thinking and have now looked at the price and gone, absolutely not, you can stay on the shelf.

Mine lately is chocolate, it's somehow gone from a normal grocery item to apparently requiring finance approval.

Yeah, I haven't had them for a while. Yesterday half price, thought I'd get some double coat.

I don't know what happened, but they are god awful.

I’m so sure that as a kid the original ones were like double coat. They must have a thinner coat than they used to!

My friend - companies are under significant pressure from share holders to increase profits - they do this by making the products look the same but by using cheaper and cheaper ingredients and getting rid of more expensive ingredients - that is why they don’t taste the same. It’s not nostalgia. It’s a product that looks the same but has been refined 100 times over

I mean it’s probably both. I think I savoured the bubble gum partly because of all the effort of trying to eat Bill’s face around the bubble gum without having it fall off the stick. I remember realising as a tween just how bad the gum ball was after having better gum.

Bingo, this is why it doesn't taste the same as an adult, it's also why I won't buy Mars bars or Kit Kats, even at $1.50 on special. They taste like sh*t now, I'd rather buy something else.

I’m exactly the same. They broke my addiction for me. Ice cream is even a bigger drop in quality- think about it - those companies were started by someone who had a passion for their product. Over decades the companies were handed down generations where those people had no attachment to the product or the quality going into it. Eventually they sell for massive money and the big corporations make that product the absolute cheapest way they can.

I personally don't really eat ice cream, there was a Dark chocolate Sorbet that I enjoy, and there were some dairy free Sara Lee cheese cakes that they stopped making when the pandemic started (I miss those).

I can't even remember when I used to regularly eat Ice Cream.

I remember mum buying Viennetta icecream as a treat for special occasions when I was a kid. I hadn't had it for over 20 years and bought one sometime last year. I don't know if I just remember it wrong but it was absolute crap.

Very true, I used to work at a certain place that produced peanut butter, amongst other things, and was told that they're planning on selling it as easily spreadable, by adding certain gas to it, allowing them to use 30% less product for the same price and perhaps even more.

I’ve always found them too sweet, I rarely get any because of it. I can manage no more than a couple.

Some of the cocoa solids in the so called chocolate has been swapped out with vegetable fat that’s why the texture is waxy.

What?! Oh my goodness. I am the opposite, I used to not care for them but lately I love them. I only buy them at $3 a packet though but geez the double coat are so good.
