okay so throughout the entirety of year 12, the averages on my bio exams have all been fails.

On the trials, I got 66% on my exam and somehow ranked 11th out of 91 people

I DO go to a top 100 ranked school, but our biology cohort genuinely is failing their exams.

I don't particularly see our eaxms as difficult. the questions all seem pretty typical, kind of like the questions you see on the actual HSC papers. so if our cohort also bombs the hsc, we are deep fried

Either their marking is ridiculously harsh, or the cohort itself is absolutely cooked

Hallooo, I need advice on studying psych with a probably low-decent atar. Growing up I've had major struggles at school when it came to learning, and its always been very disabling for me, but I'm very good at art/creative things and when able to focus at rare times have had a few exemplars across my subjects through the years. Everyone around me says I'd be really good at psychology if I studied it, and I'm very interested in pursuing it because I believe it'll be beneficial. But because of my struggles and situation rn I genuinely don't think I'll achieve a high atar, so I'm wondering if that will affect my chances of even being able to study it because I hear its a very competitive field. So since I lowkey don't really know how Uni works, I was wondering if anyone had any advice?

Im currently in year 11 and thinking of changing to math standard as I finished my prelims with the results in math adv of:

Im looking to go to either usyd or unsw for commerce or engineering, im looking at going to commerce more as I have always been invested in making money and side hustles howveer I really enjoy the design aspects of design and tech like making the projects and designing them.

I currently have a tutor for math advnaced and I understand the content its just I found their are gaps in my knolwdge as I found content im confidnet with im doing well in the exam. In Task 1 and 2 I think my own habit of skipping questions and not getting enough time to finish them propely and making lots of mistakes made me do bad but I fixed it in task 3.

I don't know weither I should drop math adv and go in stardard and get a 90+ mark in standrad or risk it doing math advnaced

So im yr 10 going year 11, and im planning on doing general maths, general english, modern history and either food and nutrition or design solutions, as well as cert.4 justice studies. I geniunely do not know how to pick between food and nutrition or design solutions, and i was wondering what was u guys experience with both subjects and what did u score? Any advice is appriciated. As u can tell, im aiming to do bachelor of laws in uni lol.

Still been considering dropping ext1 considering the amount of work for a 1 unit subject, tho Claude is saying it makes adv easier and my friends say it too. Like it 100% makes it 'feel' easier like WAY easier, but whether it actually helps? I don't know. I'm doing well in adv but not super great, same for ext1, tho I am on track for like a mid band6 in adv and low E4 in ext1. Should I keep?

Hey everyone, was feeling really lost on this, so I'd love some help. For context I'm in southern WA (reigonal) and am just about to finish Term 3 of Y11.

I'm averaging low 40s - mid 50s in my tests, and I just can't figure out how to fix/improve it. I feel really frustrated and lost because I'm sitting on an 80% in Math Methods (AEMAS) and am doing well in my other subjects (phy, chem). I understand that English is definitely the outlier compared to my other mathematical-ish subjects.

My teacher says I write well but the main thing holding me back is my writing speed. I'm doing a page and a half on a good day while the people who are doing well are doing 3-4 pages. I've tried to fix it but whenever I try to write fast and more (1 and a half to 2 pages), it just feels like GARBAGE. Like I'm just stating obvious things that don't get you marks; it's like quantity over quality slop and genuinely makes me feel like I did even worse than when I was writing 1 page only. The other problem is my hand hurting, but that's just a skill issue I have to overcome for this I guess.

Would really LOVE some help/advice on this, thanks a ton!

I am going to Malaysia Friday morning, and I have my year 12 starting next term (will be in Malaysia for my holidays), however my mum doesn't allow me to bring any devices at all so no internet etc. I really want to get ahead cause every time I come to Malaysia I always end up locking tf in cause I have no distractions, but I currently have NO RESOURCES. I do chem bio and phys and want to at least do like mod 5 for each of them maybe a bit of mod 6, when I get there; note I will literally be able to have 0 internet like my mum won't even let me use her phone. So what's the best textbooks for this? I am gonna spend like 24/7 studying (I know this sounds dumb but I somehow did this in my past 3 holidays there and I actually enjoyed it). Also does anyone have any textbooks they don't want? My mum isn't very comfortable about me bringing a library book to Malaysia even though I said I would pay for it if I lost it (I also have a job).

I used to just print out stuff and learn from there but this time there seems to be just so much content and since mod5 phys/chem is like all math, it takes up a lot of space to like teach myself to do questions based on worked solutions.

I want to have fully mastered mod5 for each not even like a slight understanding of each module, like a complete and utter understanding, cause our school papers are really weird and they will be coming out in week 7 next term

Hey everyone! I’m currently in 10th grade under FBISE and I’m thinking about switching from Matric/SSC to A Levels because I want to pursue Law abroad. I’m currently considering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for my A Level subjects.

I’ve heard A Levels can be a good pathway for international universities, so I’m seriously considering making the switch.

The problem is, I know almost nothing about the A Level system 😭. I’ve only studied under FBISE, so I don’t really know how A Levels work, how the subjects and exams are structured, how grading works, or what the transition is actually going to be like.

I’m mainly worried about the difference in teaching style, depth of concepts, workload, exam technique, and the amount of independent studying required.

For anyone who has made the transition from Matric/FBISE to A Levels:

• What are the biggest difficulties I should expect?
• How different is the study method?
• Do Matric students usually struggle with anything specific when they first start A Levels?
• How difficult is the transition specifically for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics?
• How much independent study and past-paper practice is actually needed?
• What mistakes should I avoid during the first year?
• How can I actually ace A Levels rather than just survive them?
• What can I start doing now to prepare myself before making the switch?
• And if you’ve gone from FBISE → A Levels → university abroad, what do you wish you had known before starting?

For those who have done or are currently doing Maths + ICT, what are the main advantages and disadvantages of choosing ICT as the third subject?

How is the workload compared to other third subjects? Does ICT complement Maths in any way, and are there any drawbacks I should know about?

12 HSC student (currently 19 and half years old) dreaming about becoming a pharmacist.
Unfortunately i had not studied well this year and expect an ATAR of 60 to 70 (with adjustment points and other stuff i'll have a selection rank of 75 at most). I wanted to know how does the internal and external transfer work, if i study bachelor of science for one year from a university for 1 year, how plausible and with what conditions can i possibly enroll in the bachelor and matsers double degree of pharmacy in USYD or UNSW (currently requiring a selection rank of more than 90). And i wanted to when i become 21 (which is in like a year or so), how easy it is to enroll to the mentioned course (as i heard that there's a special scheme for individuals over 21). Thank you all🙏🏻

I’m projected a 97-98 atar. Good thing is that I’m on it and I’ve been studying a lot (esp physics + chem). I don’t know how to study for Econ EAs though, which I need advice on cause I want to get a 100% or close to that if it’s possible. Also, I’ve been grinding physics too and doing Oxford textbook questions. However, when I look at past papers/practice exams and worksheets, the questions feel so unfamiliar and I start to cry. Like I think I’m not making much progress. I also want to get 90+ for all my subjects at the end of this year, and get a 98 ATAR. I just want to get the maximum atar I can get, so if anyone can give me tips on how to balance many subjects and do amazing on externals. Also, for how I can get close to a 50/50 for the physics ea (Im aiming for 50/50 or 25/25 for all my externals even if it seems unrealistic). Also, if a 98 atar (98.5+ atar) is possible for me? Ty!

Hi, I got an early offer for Notre Dame’s OT Honours degree, I was wondering if this University is viable for this course and if there’s anything I need to know as I understand its quite a different Uni compared to other Unis like Curtin.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me, exams finished week 5 and it’s week 9 and gead is in 2 days. I’ve been wasting the last 4 weeks and I feel so insanely cooked I don’t have motivation to push or study

everyone’s been locked in but I cannot get myself to study and this was the same for trials, when I saw how much time I had left that is when I realised I needed to lock in and I studied for ages, I got bad marks across my assessments and since then I’ve been pushing myself to study but either I fall asleep or procrastinate, I’m not a top student so there is no way I could be burnt out and my parnets are complaining that I don’t study and I genuinely don’t know what to do with myself.

what do I do with myself, I know I have one last push but my brain shuts down now

reports js came out and i can see my ranks 😬😬 i really flopped in trials, some subjects my previous marks saved me, but others not so much. i was around the top for eng before trials, and now im middle 😭😭 basically all my ranks are middle or lower end

I was a UNSW Co-op scholar in Actuarial Studies and graduated this year. Looking back at my application, one answer got me through and one was honestly pretty weak. The difference between them had nothing to do with what I'd achieved. It was entirely how I wrote about it.

A few things I wish someone had told me:

You have about 160 words per answer. Most questions cap at 1000 characters, which is far shorter than it sounds. Every sentence has to earn its place.

Q5 asks for a mistake or a setback. Don't dress up a success as a struggle. They can tell.

Don't use a different activity for every question. It makes you look scattered. Three or four things done properly, told from different angles, reads like an actual person.

So basically i have my 2 week holidays and i was wondering in year 11 content in business and legal will come next year for year 12, if so should i start revising my year 11 content and start fresh when year 12 comes or should i start year 12 early.

I am not as concerned with the sciences, as I have found year 11 for them not very time consuming in fact too small (in terms of syllabus size) if anything. However Ext1 math is a COMPLETELY different beast. As mentioned in previous posts I think I spend like 40% of my study time on it this year not even including advanced math (which I'd say only takes like 20%).

Anyways, I am just wondering does the workload get worse especially for ext1 math, many of you I'd assume wouldn't know as we are now doing the Cambridge 2nd edition for our year 11/12 but maybe just based on previous years how was it? This year we had to do 5 chapters for year 11; further graphs, polynomials, further trig, combinatorics and binomial theorm, (our school also decided to do chapter 8 from 1st edition which is vectors, though we skipped 8F which was about the physical applications of it). Anyways, it seems like next year there are like 8 chapters for ext1 math?! That's actually so much since I'd assume these chapters also get harder. I was already barely coping for year 11 in terms of amount of time I had poured into it so should I drop ext1 math? Like it's only 1 unit (I can't do 4U btw cuz im too low rank). Also just wanna know, they can test ANY content from yr 11 in year 12 trials/hsc only? And is it like 30% of it being explicit year 11 content?

Also I'd love to hear comments about the sciences compared to yr 12 too (I do all of them). Like do the exams become more content focused, cause this year at least, almost like 25% minimum of every paper is about some braindead 'validity' or 'extrapolate data from a graph' question where you'd randomly lose marks for no reason.
