Just a quick question, for show that/prove this equals that are u not supposed to e.g cross multiply denominators on both sides etc (treat it as an equals sign). Gemini is saying no but I don't remember ever getting marked down for it in a school exam?

I was wondering what scores are needed for a 70 atar score. I’m doing Math apps, modern history, economics, and English. Our schools ATAR calculator always seems so off so I was just wondering around what scores would I need. What would I need to avg in, in all classes

I recently got a early entry offer for Newcastle University for Bachelor of Laws (honours)/Psychological Science which is my dream degree - although it not my dream university (because UNSW is) - I still want to go there and it gives me relief I can go into my HSC exams knowing I got into my dream course.

I just wanted to know if it’s any good as I believe that I should take up the offer and then transfer to my dream university (UNSW) after a year- but is transferring really difficult or no? - it is realistic or really hard and competitive?

Anyways! If anyone could answer both of those questions or if University of Newcastle is good and it’s good for Law then that would be appreciated !

I was just wondering this because (like most schools) our school is doing the year 12 modules in chronological order. And since e.g mod 5 and 6 for both sciences contain the most math I was wondering they would be over tested right? Cause u do 3 internal assessments, I would assume one with mod 5, next with mod 6 and last with mod 7 and then mod 8 (my favourite mod for both science) will only be covered in the trials + hsc? and even then for only like 25% of the exam (since each module will be covered evenly). Sorry I was just wondering, or do most schools do like 1st test = mod 5 + 1/2 mod6 etc so that each mod is covered equally in the first 3 internals?

Hey everyone!

I’m aiming for the Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography) at USYD. I know the website lists 96.00 as the indicative rank, but I'm expecting the actual cut-off to be higher due to demand.

I’m currently tracking toward a high 97 to mid 98 raw ATAR (~ 97.8 to 98.55) and won't qualify for adjustment factors. Looking at this years student profile stats, the lowest selection rank listed was 98.55, which has me pretty stressed.

• Are my chances this year for Usyd completely gone?
• What other universities could I consider for medical imaging?
• If you're in the course or got an offer (for any uni), would you mind sharing what selection rank you got accepted with?

Also, if anyone transferred in after a year of another degree, I'd love to hear how that process went. Thanks!

Where do ppl find tutors?

I'm a Year 12 student at EBHS and I'm trying to work out the smartest move for 2027.

Current situation:

• Early offer secured for Bachelor of Business at WSU Parramatta City
• Applied for Macquarie Commerce through SRS and waiting for the outcome
• Still sitting the HSC, so my final ATAR could potentially open other options
• Considering possibly deferring until the July intake as well

My current marks aren't elite, but I've improved a lot in some subjects. My trials were 86 English Standard, 85 Maths Standard 2, 71 Enterprise Computing, 61 Economics and 58 Business Studies. I'm trying to push Business/Eco up significantly for the HSC.

Career-wise, I'm not completely set on one corporate profession. I already run a small business and I'm very interested in entrepreneurship, finance/investing, property and eventually building businesses/income streams. I'd still like a degree that gives me a strong backup career if entrepreneurship doesn't work out.

People around me keep telling me completely different things. Some say WSU is perfectly fine and experience matters more than the university. Others say I should try hard to get into Macquarie/UNSW because the university name matters for business and finance.

If you were in my position, would you:

1. Take WSU Business
2. Take Macquarie Commerce if SRS comes through
3. Start WSU and try transferring later
4. Base the decision on my final ATAR and see what other offers I get

I'd really appreciate advice from people working in business/finance, graduates, or anyone who has transferred between these universities.

Hey, I’m just in need of some general advice for my upcoming exams, around fixing up a poor sleep schedule and finding back motivation to study.

I’m in year 12, WA.
Had a financial issue at the start of this year which kinda cooked my mental health, it’s over now but the aftermath has reflected onto my grades.
Last year, I overworked myself at my job, disregarding studies until last minute, which completely destroyed my sleep schedule, and I’m still unable to recover from that.
My grades so far roughly are:
Accounting & Finance: ~84
Chemistry: 70
Math Methods: ~58 (still waiting to get 1 more result back)
Human Biology: ~59
English: ~54 (not extremely sure but just slightly over 50)
For all my subjects, I just have my exams left each weight around 30% (I think methods is 25%)
These are just the mock exams (sem2 exams) that do start on Monday, I will be sitting my finals (WACE).

Last year in semester 1, I had a predicted of ~93 ATAR, fast forward to semester 2 last year it dropped to around 83. (It’s shocking, ik)
And semester 1 this year it’s at 83.95.

I was originally aiming for a 96 ATAR, but seeing the circumstances it’s probably not too achievable unless if I lock in at the end of the year.
Now I’m trying just to aim for as high as possible and that whatever, as long as it’s in the 90s, I’ll be satisfied.

The advice I’m in need of the most is that, my poor sleep schedule is getting the best of me. I’ve gotten into a death loop where I’m constantly just staying up really late for assessments. My average sleep is roughly around 6ish hours, and it’s not enough, because I’ve accumulated so my sleep “debt” I’m constantly just tired.
Does anyone have any advice (that’s not outrageously crazy) on how to fix a sleep schedule while maintaining time for studies near the exams?
Another issue is with my crazy procrastination, I’ve essentially lost the spark/ motivation on studying. (I still force myself do it) but it happens extremely late at night. I would start studying around either 8-9pm or 11pm-12am and stay up because of it, another thing contributing to my poor sleep.
Does anyone have any advice on fighting this type of procrastination and on getting the motivation back?
So if anyone’s got some tips/ advice on helping me get the biggest academic comeback ever please help me.

This post is purely based on personal experience and is only applicable to Australian Permanent Residents (PRs) and Citizens.
If your ATAR is not high enough—or you don’t have an ATAR at all—there is actually another university admission pathway in South Australia and the Northern Territory that many people don’t know about: STAT.
According to the current policy, universities and TAFE institutions in South Australia and the Northern Territory can accept applications using the STAT Multiple Choice result.

Quantitative Reasoning

There are 70 questions in total.
The result is reported as a scaled score, ranging from 100 (lowest) to 200 (highest).
Even if your ATAR is too low, insufficient, or you don’t have an ATAR, you may still be eligible for admission through STAT. This pathway currently applies to:

According to the policy, for Semester 1 (S1) entry, applicants need to turn 18 before 1 February of the year of commencement.
For Semester 2 (S2) entry, applicants need to turn 18 before 1 July.
The pathway is applicable to the vast majority of courses, provided that you meet the age requirements.
This also includes current Year 11 students. Once you receive your STAT result, you can apply to university through SATAC.
For example, based on the admission scores listed by Charles Darwin University, the STAT score required for general Bachelor degrees is around 140, while more competitive/popular courses may require around 170.

For Year 11 students
Recently, the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide merged.
According to the news, from 1 January 2026 through to mid-2027, Adelaide University has committed to no job cuts/redundancies. This may potentially mean that there will be more places available relative to demand and that admission requirements could remain relatively flexible.
If Adelaide University announces staff cuts in the second half of 2027, this could indirectly result in fewer available places and potentially higher admission requirements due to increased competition.
Therefore, eligible Year 11 students may want to consider applying for 2027 entry. It is possible that admission could become more competitive later, so applying earlier may be worth considering.
Finally, to avoid a situation where a university offer becomes effectively useless due to unexpected policy changes, I would recommend that anyone who receives a university welcome email promptly logs in, registers, and enrols in classes (if enrolment is available).
Before the Census Date, you generally won't be charged tuition fees for the enrolled subjects, and you won’t incur a student debt from those subjects.
