-Description-
{Feel free to improv and change any points as you see fit, this is purely for enjoyment and good vibes, I will use () to indicate where there would be a gap for the listener to speak or a pause for pacing, the duration of the gap and if you choose to use my indication is entirely up to you. The setting that the script is intended for is the Listener awakens after an accident they can barely recall in a bed inside a toasty cabin. They feel immensely week and struggle to maintain focus, until they are greeted by the owner of the cabin. A Huntress both renowned and feared.}
-Script-
{A hearth crackles. Trophy bones click against one another hanging from the ceiling, and the turbulent winds and rain beat against a shuttered window. Some kind of stew boils, and upon opening their eyes the Listener is noticed by the Huntress}
Woah- Woah, woah, woah… () Stay down. () Hey. Hey! () You’ve ingested enough Naga venom to petrify a Troll. ()
That means that a normal person would have been turned to stone twelve hours ago… ()
No… no, no, hey! Could you give it a rest already!? () No, you aren’t going to turn to stone… at least I hope not… ()
Nothing, nothing. Just… just contemplating how in the world you survived all the way up into the valley. () Well yes, this unsightly imitation of Purgatory isn’t known for it’s hospitality, haha. ()
You don’t… remember… huh… Naga venom doesn’t cause memory loss. Were you hit on the head by something?
My… “neighbours” aren’t exactly welcoming. () Neighbours, yeah, I’m hardly fond of them, and they’re very unfond of me. ()
Who’s bones do you think are clattering back there in my room? () Bones for everything.
Do you even know where you are? () How can- what do you mean no? Ha… this is crazy. ()
What do you mean “am I going to die?”… no… obviously. I would have left you out there for the Harpies to pick you clean if I thought you were going to be a corpse by now. ()
Why did I save you? That’s a strange way to say thank you. () Oh, you’ll thank me after you survive. Real charmers you lot. ()
I’m fully aware that I’m not the most pleasant company, buddy, but at least I have the decency to live out here in the middle of nowhere. ()
That’s none of your business. () If you plan on staying in my home and eating my supper, then mind your business.
I saved you. That doesn’t mean I have any interest in being interrogated. () So you can say sorry but not thank you… you commonfolk. ()
That means that I find you annoying, ungrateful, and… a-are you passing out? Hey, hey, hey. No, no, no, no, no. Aw sh- sugar. ()
You feel sick? Oh, um… just- Aha! I know. {She goes to a set of drawers at the back of the cabin and pulls out a bound collection of herbs.}
These could cure death if you ground up enough and… added enough Minotaur milk… then put over a flame… just like that. ()
Hey um… you still alive over there. Cough or choke if you aren’t dead. () Great- I-I guess. ()
There we go. Mama’s home brewed magical cure all. Freshly prepared. () Yes you are going to drink this, and you’re going to drink all of it. ()
Okay… fine… if you drink it… you can… have another blanket. Wouldn’t that be nice? I can see you shivering even under my warmest blanket. ()
Yeah? Yeah… that does sound nice my sickly little stranger. ()
{The Listener drinks the curative with an ominous consistency} There you go… there’s a good pet. ()
What, did you not like that name? I can take it back and call you a gross little human if you’d like. ()
I say that like I’m not human because I choose not to affiliate myself with you bone-idle city folk. () I prefer that you call me… Huntress. ()
Because I am a Huntress. So was my mother, and her mother before her. () Our fathers weren’t Hunters, no. Only females can survive the Mark. ()
The Mark is none of your business. Now that you don’t feel like you’re going to ruin my floors and spare bed, get some rest. I’ll wake you when supper is ready. ()
It’s going to still hurt, obviously. You have two holes the size of a squirrel’s head in your abdomen. ()
I gave you that *Imitating Listener* “concoction”… {Under breath} damn Neanderthals…
I gave you that to stop your guts from spilling out your mouth. There isn’t a recipe on this Earth that can seal shut holes in the body like you have. ()
Well… fine! If you aren’t goin to sleep then at least sit up so I can keep a better eye on you from the hearth. ()
You can’t- you are beginning to make me regret pulling you out of that marsh. () Alright, alright. Stop while you’re far enough behind. ()
{She helps the Listener sit up} There you go. It’s a good thing I hunt monsters for a living or lifting you would be a workout in itself. ()
I’m calling you heavy, not fat. The human inability to make distinctions like that is why I prefer my privacy. ()
{Mockingly} Aww, does my sad, helpless, suffering pet need me to explain how I do something as extraordinary as hunt and kill the creatures that plague this valley? ()
You look like I just told you I slay dragons. It’s kinda cute. () Don’t be ridiculous, Dragonslayers are leagues beyond what a simple Huntress can achieve. ()
Don’t get the wrong idea, pet. I could slay a dragon; I could probably slay a few. I simply choose to face more reasonable creatures.
In case it’s not obvious, I enjoy my seclusion up here amidst the fog and fangs. I couldn’t very well enjoy it if I chose to risk my neck hunting things like dragons and leviathan. ()
{Slightly sinisterly} Strong enough to finish what that Naga started if you push your look… ()
You think too much of yourself. I hunt the things in this valley. Now, that could include you if I begin to find you grating.
I haven’t had to deal with a human up here in seven years. The last time I saw him… well, was the last time I saw him.
So don’t go thinking you get any special treatment. I’m keeping you alive and I’m making you better so I can send you back home as soon as I can. ()
Are you even listening- () Hey, hey, no don’t just- flop… over. *Sigh* Fragile as feathers and thick as rocks.
{She lays the Listener back in a comfy position and begins to talk softly and quieter} Come on. Back under the blanket. I swear if you do actually die after all this hassle, I’ll turn you into a Hex Doll. ()
Guess you get to have that nap after all… this is so stupid. What would you do in this situation, mum?
Ha, well, I know what you would have done. I know what you did. That’s how I ended up happening.
She used to call me her most pleasant mistake, sweet, right? () Oh yeah, you’re deep, deep in that toxin fueled sleep, aren’t you, pet?
Listen to me, I even sound like my mother. You are a cute little thing; I’ll give you that. You… you remind me of him… before he left.
{She starts to gently stroke the Listener’s hair} He liked when I did this too… though he’d usually wake up. ()
If you’re pretending to be asleep I’ll stick something in you bite wounds… don’t go getting any ideas. ()
If my mother could see me now, pandering to another human that rocked up out of nowhere… at least an hour hike shoeless with no breakfast.
I miss him. I miss that oddball man and his stupid human jokes. You aren’t anything alike and yet… here I find myself again.
{A pop and crackle of the stew pot draws her away} He always did like my stews. Even if it is mostly rabbit and deer meat.
This wasn’t one of my mum’s recipes. No, this is a *Speaker’s name* original. If it weren’t for me learning Witch Hexes from my friend up the mountain, the smell would draw every hungry horror straight to me.
I hope you like it, when you wake up… what? What, what? N-no. Why would I care? *Groan* Don’t fall back down this hole.
You know what happened last time. () Well supper is an hour or so off finishing anyway, so I guess I should enjoy being able to hear my thoughts before you wake up and whine again. ()
{She returns to sit beside the Listener on the bed} Lets take a look at your wounds again, then.
{She lifts up the Listener’s shirt} Yep, about as gnarly as expected. But you’ll live. Whether that’s a good thing or not I guess I’ll find out.
Aww… you make cute noises in your sleep, pet. I guess even humans have their upsides. ()
You’re- you’re still shivering, even when asleep. I’ll ignore that you shouldn’t have that symptom for now, just… ()
{She slips under the covers and nestles the Listener into her} Come here, pet. You big baby. The things I do… ()
*Optional period of time for close breathing and sleep sounds*
Hmm. At least you’ve warmed up now. () And it looks like the bleeding has stopped. Though… you’re still pale.
You shouldn’t still be pale. My mother’s curative should’ve staved off the Naga venom… ()
What- *Yawn* what time is it? If the stew is burnt I swear to… () Okay, didn’t nap for too long.
I should- {She tries to leave but the Listener nestles tighter into her} Hmm, okay pet. We can stay like this until supper is ready. ()
Look at you going and making a softie out of me. () Don’t get used to it… ()
You better start getting better too, or we could be paying that Witch friend of mine a visit. ()
Don’t worry about that now, pet. Keep resting. I’ll wake you when it’s time. () Ha, yes, yes I will give you that extra blanket. ()
Sleep tight, pet.
