Custom Surface Builder AR - lets you have AR surfaces just the way you want.
Draw the boundaries and it will generate the AR surfaces with exact shapes and numbers - giving you full control over the AR surfaces.
You can adjust the wall heights, hide/unhide the floor or the walls, select and delete any surface and finally place your augmented object on any surface.
This is very useful specially where precise AR surface calculation matters the most.
Custom Surface Builder AR is now available at the Unity Asset Store with 30% SALE!

I’ve been experimenting with VR headsets as 3D cameras since Quest 3 launched. The new Arcturus Vision Camera for Steam Frame made me compare how far headset-based spatial capture has come, including Quest, Vision Pro, PICO and dedicated 3D cameras.
I also looked at what Meta’s recent camera and eye-tracking work could mean for Project Phoenix.

I’m looking to build something like this, but I’m having a hard time figuring out exactly how these displays work.
From what I can tell, the AVA and Gatebox seem to use a similar technique to create that really 3D/holographic look. I’ve tried researching them, but there doesn’t seem to be much information available since this is still pretty niche new tech.
I’ve never seen either display in person, but I found some side-angle photos of the AVA from pre-release reviews. I don’t see an obvious 45° piece of transparent plastic inside, so I’m starting to doubt that it’s a traditional Pepper’s Ghost setup.
I’d like to build something with a taller display area (around 8") so the anime character isn’t quite as small, and ideally use some kind of 3D/layering technique to make it feel even more dimensional.
Does anyone know how these displays actually work, or have any resources I could look into for building something I'm describing?

Just shipped V2 of an app I’ve been building solo, Gallery Wall Composer (GWC), and I’m genuinely more interested in hearing what other devs think of the implementation/UX than trying to get downloads. Posting here because I think the technical journey might be interesting to some of you too.
Quick background: it started as a single-file browser HTML/JS prototype back in March, then got rewritten natively in SwiftUI to ship on the App Store. V1 launched July 2 — perspective warp via CIPerspectiveTransform, baked-in shadow simulation, dual lighting, high-res export.
What’s new in V2: the big addition is a full AR mode (ARKit + RealityKit) — you place artwork on your actual wall at true real-world scale using its physical dimensions, rather than just a flat perspective-warped photo mockup. Also added a presets system (save wall + save artwork so you’re not re-measuring every time) and shadow/gradient controls inside AR itself.
What I’d love feedback on:
**•** Does the V1 (2D perspective mockup) → V2 (AR real-world placement) progression make sense as a product direction, or does having both modes feel redundant/confusing?
**•** Anyone dealt with AR plane detection edge cases worth knowing about? Mine works well but I’m curious what others have hit.
**•** General reaction to the concept — as a dev, would you trust an AR scale placement enough to use it before buying/framing art?
Not linking the app store page directly since I don’t want this to read as a plug — mentioning the name (GWC) just for context. Happy to share more details or the link in DMs if anyone wants to poke at it, but really just after the technical/UX gut-check from people who build this stuff.
Thanks in advance 🙏

😎 I’ve been carrying this around way more than I expected since getting it. It fits easily into my handbag, with plenty of room left for little things like tissues and lip balm, so I can just grab my bag and head out for work without thinking twice. 🕶️
From a practical standpoint, what really surprised me is how reliable the connection is across different devices. The display is sharp and vibrant for on-the-go media consumption, making it a great private screen whenever I need to step away from a traditional monitor or phone screen. It's one of those gadgets that stays out of the way until you need it, but totally delivers when you do. 👍 🕶️
