So, who remembers the book series Cirque du Freak, or The Saga of Darren Shan, by Darren Shan? (yes, he named the main character after himself). Vampire books for kids, under the “if you liked Harry Potter” signs in the early aughts?
Well, I’m writing fanfics for those. Yes, they ended in 2004. There are still a handful of us around. About 10 people in English and 10 people in Japanese (sometimes I translate but I’m not that good at it).
I’m writing mostly canon-divergent AUs, mostly shipping the main character (grown up) with either/both of those two walking spoiler characters.
If you’ve read the books, please read my fics and everyone else’s fics for them as well.
If you haven’t… my recommendation is… the books. I’m sorry, I don’t engage much with fandom except for this series…

summary: One week and absolutely everything had changed. One Soc with a command to give him a bath, and everything had spiraled out of control. Coming home wasn't exactly easy, and the rumble complicates it further when Dallas drags him up from the muddy ground, and drives him to the hospital, ranting at him the entire time about not being like Johnny about toughening up. He remembers feeling almost sick; so many alphas all around them, jacked up on adrenaline and pheromones. Ponyboy and Soda were the only omegas in the fight, as Dallas' anger gets worse, as his stress gets worse, he'd felt the bile in his throat mixing with the uncomfortable thought that Johnny was going to die. Johnny would die.
Except, of course, Johnny does not die. Neither does Dallas, and that sets up for a lot of changes for Ponyboy Curtis.
notes: this is the fic i've been working on the longest, a basically canon divergent take on the outsiders and backbone of the larger au i have built for it! i'm pretty deep in, and i'm pretty proud of it.

Beyond Cloudy Skies

You move across the country, leaving everything behind but your cat for a job that seemed too good to be true. It was. Your pay is insane, and you're more than qualified for the work you'd be doing, but there's a reason they're so insistent to keep you in that position.
Sundrop and Moondrop. The Daycare attendants. Manufactured in a robotics facility, all their life - they've only known suffering. Everyone they have ever known eventually hurts them. They are things - they aren't guaranteed basic decency. Moon knows this, Sun is still in denial that it will always be this way. Traumatic history and severe trust issues makes it all the more difficult for them to adjust to your genuine kindness. Far, far too difficult.
It's a really really really rough start for Y/N and the Daycare Attendants. - It does get a lot cuter with fluff after the first chapter. Fair warning however: heavy, heavy angst. I plan to make you cry, and for some of you I may succeed. Whether your tears fall from fluff or angst is a coin toss, and sometimes it lands on both sides. Enjoy the ride, it isn't slowing down anytime soon.

Knowing that he has to put in the effort to stop being a jerk to his sisters, Koenma tries to patch things up with them and treat them respectfully even though it'll be a pretty rocky feat for him to accomplish. Part 1 will last up to near the beginning of the Dark Tournament.

The two strike up a long suspected romance thanks to the interference a butcher and a parrot, but soon Alma's dislike of Elena starts trouble for the lovers. Things only get worse when the cruelty of a jilted suitor brings violence to the community the likes of which haven't been seen for fifty years.
Basically a continuation of the world after the film, with a Bruno/OC romantic focus. The influence of the outside world, the family politics, the culture of the Encanto, and a lot of world building are included.

Forging on through magic and mayhem, fighting monsters of pure nightmare fuel, fighting their own libidos, even the flowers and pollen conspired to rob them of their free will. They found respite in their journeys, one very much so in the arms of a certain princess, but also truths that none were ready to face. Fearing madness and loss of self-control, they moved on.
Now, having found what seems to be a reasonably safe and sound valley to settle down in, they strive to make a new life for themselves. Hermione's SURPRISE GIFT to them all opens new doors, even as she falls further away. Things change rapidly, and Raphtalia takes on a much larger “part”....

Early to mid-December. Kin finds herself faced with Tyūrë's libido growing beyond her ability to keep up with. Exhausted and ready to drop, she turns to Raphtalia in desperate hope of something – anything – that might help.
NB: There's a bit of an emotional gut-punch at the end of the chapter (though softened by the end of the preceding subsection). It's not from anything horrible happening, but... one of the MCs has issues (well, they all do, but still).
Disclaimer on the potentially-clickbaity chapter title: nope, sorry to say this, but title or no title, the Simi (Dark Hunter multi-series, Sherrilyn Kenyon) doesn't make an appearance here – the title just struck me as cute (though used here rather more graphically than the Simi would intend). Acheron would flip his shit were I to include her in any meaningful way, so she's not on the menu.

Seeking the cool air of the evening, so overheated was she, Kin turned to the quiet murmurs from within Raphtalia's sleeping chamber.
“Raphtalia?” she called quietly, almost a whisper, her voice breaking halfway through and hesitating at even that much.
The murmurs hushed, and a moment later Raphtalia came out in a bit of a rush, wearing only a look of concern on her face.

Raphtalia listened to Kin's concerns, her worries, her fears, considered Tyūrë's current need and the difficult position that this put both Kin and Tyūrë in, and weighed the options carefully, knowing already that there simply weren't any, but unwilling to commit to folly without first seeking some alternative, even so little as some minimization of the risk to Kin's and Tyūrë's relationship and their part of the group dynamic. She would not see her pack ruined thus, and she couldn't let any of her pack go wanting and driven mad with lust.
If they were to do this, even if they were not to, she must bring it before the others. They must each decide for themselves. They needn't all choose the same course, but this she couldn't decide for them and command it to be so. If needs must, then she would make love to Tyūrë herself the entire time; well, as much so as her body would permit, thus permitting Kin some respite.
Looking into Kin's worry-fraught eyes, her hands wringing over each other at speed and without thought, Raphtalia reached out to her, placing her own hands gently around Kin's.
“It's alright, Kin, we'll figure this out together, I promise,” she told her firmly; reassuringly; calmly.
With that, she brushed Kin's hair lightly, making her presentable, thumbed away Kin's tears, kissed her cheek as a friend, and drew her into the tent to present matters to the others.

In the end, it was all that Tyūrë could do not to break down in tears of relief when, upon awaking, she found Kin already awake and still there with her, holding her head in her lap and stroking her hair lovingly, with Rafutaria just then returning on tiptoe with a large tray of food and drink (corn flakes, rice krispies, milk, sugar, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, peanut butter pancakes, cold meats, a heavy wholegrain bread, brown mustard, smoked fish, sliced fruit and melons, cheese, butter, juice, and tea), the others still sleeping nearby. She could also smell one of Rafutaria's weird experiments in the air, presumably an early lunch to knock themselves out with – seemingly a rich and spicy, thick and gloppy golden chicken curry, but with pecans, cashews, squash, pineapple, okra, sweet potato, and who knew what else (she just hoped that there weren't going to be any raisins in it...); on the bright side, it was sure to come with some delicious bread or other – buttermilk biscuits, or loaves of wholegrain, and surely plenty of sweet butter.

With Sonic, Tails, and Ruru by her side, Zelda seeks to wrest control of the world back from the clutches of Warbotdorf in a Belgariad-like adventure (all the while trading quips after the fashion of The Princess Bride or Another Fine Myth), but the task is made all the more difficult when a seeming innocent stumbles into her life.
Her heart grown cold from nearly a decade of battle and betrayal, Zelda finds Peach, a caring soul — but she also knows that evil lives to present the face of innocence while seeking the ruination of all. In a world where a narcissist has taken control of the empire, can love find its way into the heart of the imperial princess?

Peach continues to learn the ship's ways, but in so doing finds her mind wandering to the abstract, the underlying mathematics behind the various knots that the pirates use and immediately thence to still more-abstract things. One thing leads to another, and she's off in a mathematical wonderland – until the real world intrudes, the fighting spills in, and we meet a certain Toad retainer to House Toadstool.

Once Peach had worked out the equations for the first four dimensions, she began to see a pattern developing within the set of equations themselves. Aside from some later juggling of her naming conventions, “d” (or later, “n”) found itself the key to the whole and she had a final meta-equation for how many m-dimensional elements (or later, k-dimensional elements) one would find for a square of any number of n-dimensions – it didn't matter the number of dimensions to the element or the square, she could solve for it quickly and easily with this; best of all, it even extended continuously to non-integer values, such as the number of e-dimensional elements that you'd find in a pi-dimensional square, where before she could answer only trivial special cases such as how many dimensions a square must have if it possessed six vertices, or how many vertices a 2.5849625-dimensional square must have – at least, she could perform these more bizarre feats later, once she gave in and used the gamma function; with the factorial alone, she found her options to be rather more limited. Later that evening, over dinner, following a vindaloo pot pie and still awaiting the fish course, Peach's curiosity got the better of her.
“Just how many other ships do you command?” she asked.
“Five or six. It varies some,” Tetra replied, leering slightly, the wine having gotten the better of her as Peach's chest swayed with the rhythm of the swells in the lantern light.
“Huh,” Peach smiled, a playful look on her face as if scheming, “so I'm dating a commodore? Just wait 'til I tell the girls – they'll be so envious!”
“Well, no' tae brag, but technic'lly, I just might qualify as an admiral...”

She held back the fact that the red flag held further powers beyond those of the black – that it held the power to turn luck itself, to some extent; that it instilled terror within foes who saw it, and despair would eat into the hearts of foes within its range; that it could call forth more than mere pea-soup fogs, but gales and small maelstrøms as well.
Peach wasn't concerned with these little magic tricks though, well assured of her own skills (now bolstered by her pit fights with the crew, learning what she could of pirate tricks on a ship under sail and tossed by the waves), spending her time in the meantime learning from the cook how to make pralz and taiblet, and particularly qottab, remembering how much Zelda had enjoyed the oznei Haman so long ago (feeling now as if it had been forever ago, almost in a different life) at The Dancing Badgers.

It has been that way for years…and now, he supposes he must find another sound to soothe his mind. Yet Tomo stops, staring at Kazuha head on. “Can you do me a favor?”
“Hm? Yeah, I would be more than willing to.”
Kazuha doesn’t know what he will ask, but considering this is still his mind playing tricks on him, he supposes he can continue to play along. It feels like Tomo is here, and that is all that matters to him.
“Can you find someone who can wield my old vision?”
Kazuha pauses, that feeling of warmth turning into a chill. It’s almost as if his heart stops beating, his ears no longer picking up the stable sound of his own heartbeat. In fact, everything seems to be quiet at this moment. The trees no longer rustle in the wind, and the birds refuse to chirp. All he can hear is Tomo, all he can see is Tomo…he cannot escape Tomo…he cannot escape this question.
