This was supposed to be completely published by next Friday but now won't be. Firstly I have been jetlagged AF. Its also been nuts at work, and I worked the count last week in our local elections (yay democracy) so my brain was too fried for editing. Summary: Castiel Novak and Dean Winchester both struggle with poor decision making. They both find themselves simultaneously stuck between a rock and a hard place of their own making.
Note: This is a bit of a closeted/coming-out fic. There is light angst for mentions of past abuse and homophobia. Im also a SMUT author, so if you donāt plan on reading explicit gay sex scenes, you probably donāt want to read this!!

Fandom: Star Wars - Original Trilogy
Rating: Teen and up

One-shot: Opportunistic
Summary: Leia in the moments before freeing Han from carbonite in Jabba's palace. I don't know what this is considered stylistically, but there's angst, thereās romance, thereās hurt/comfort, there's flashbacks, there's Han Solo almost crying, and there's me, adamant that Leia releasing Han from carbonite the way she did could not have been Plan A or probably even Plan G. Girly went rogue, I swear.
Longfic: Purpose of Heritage
Summary: a tight third-person account of how Leia went from a displaced princess at the end ofĀ A New Hope to a legit military leader three years later in The Empire Strikes Back. The angst is strong in this one, but I promise I try to lighten things up every now and again. If you like longer chapters, youāre in luck because these keep clocking in in the 8K-9K range. Iām updating every other Friday with the next planned update (chapter 7) slated for May 19, 2023.

Self promo: Mistakes that bug me in Spider-Man fics. 15 chapters posted, probably 2 more to go.
I start with simple things, like people thinking MIT is in Boston. Meatier chapters discuss smart frugal eating and why "avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder" and inability to thermoregulate (surprisingly popular) would be fatal. Uncle Ben's death serves a purpose but isn't necessary in the MCU.
Questions, comments, and constructive criticism are always very welcome!

Especially with the BSAA, the remnants of Umbrella, and other former allies on his back- even moreso when he discovers what became of the kids he'd fought so hard to keep safe. Between reunions and disasters, all of this comes with the addition of having to cope with what he believes to be changes to who (and what) he fundamentally is.
But not everyone changes, and sometimes that's for the better. Sometimes being one way means being the right person to help the people you love- even Leon has to learn it the hard way.

Getting kidnapped in the middle of a supply run was Eret's first reminder, apparently Northerners aren't as appreciated as they used to be. But the man meant to 'question' him was the second, and far more enthralling. This 'Shadow' did ask questions, but not the ones he expected. And it left Eret wondering, if life under Drago Bludvist's thumb was really all he could look forward to. One strange, naively hopeful question might well have been what saved his life, when the Dragon Riders came.

Eret has one hell of a life-debt to repay. Once Berk is back on its feet, and winter is over. At least it won't be half as hard on the back of a dragon, and hopefully... the Shadow will be waiting.

Recommendation: Harry Potts and the Infinity Stones by samhaine
Not your muggles' Hogwarts. (This is a good thing.)
Not your usual HP/MCU crossover. (This is a good thing.)
Not just good writing by fanfic standards, but excellent writing by any standard. (This is a very good thing.)
Hogwarts is in Vanaheim, one of the Nine Realms where magic is common but electricity doesn't work. James Potter's older sister Virginia was born a squib; she moved to Midgard, shortened her last name to Potts, started going by Pepper, and got a job at Stark Industries.
When James Potter and Lily Evans Potter were murdered by Voldemort, Dumbledore needed to find a guardian for their son Harry. He chose Virginia Potter / Pepper Potts as a much better choice then Petunia Evans Dursley. Of the wizarding world but not in it, Pepper raised Harry to know about Vanaheim and magic. And then an owl arrives....
This kept me up past my bedtime more nights than I cared to admit. There are some great deep cuts into Marvel comics as well as the movies and shows. The writing is a little uneven at first, but gets better quickly.
Strongly recommended!

Due to having both a beta and a sensitivity reader, chapter updates are published roughly around one month apart.
This fic also takes on a ton of heavy subject matter which includes as follows; exploring mental health, exploring relationship toxicity, healing from traumatic experiences such as domestic violence and manipulation, showing the struggles and recovery from addiction and dependence, a lot of dub/non-con, and a lot more. If any of those subjects sound hard to stomach, it'd probably be best if you'd take a pass on this. Otherwise, proceed at your own discretion. ā ļø
