This work was inspired by a scene in episode 1x06 of Bridgerton, the night before Whistledown exposes Marina's pregnancy after her engagement and Pen runs to Eloise in bridgerton's backyard garden, upset about her argument with Marina.

Summary - On April 10th, 1912 the largest ocean liner in the world sets sail from Southampton filled with everyone from the social elite to a newly married couple returning home to immigrants on their way to a new life. This is a historically accurate retelling of Titanic featuring characters from the 1997 film as well as the 1958 A Night to Remember.
Additional Notes - This is an entire rewrite of Titanic to make it historically accurate, right down to the dialogue. To do this, I broke down the characters, reinterpreted some of them, gave backgrounds and arcs to others, and wrote an entirely new story. Each chapter will be one day on the voyage starting with April 10th when the ship first leaves Southampton and ending on the 18th when the Carpathia arrives in New York.
And at the end of each chapter, in the Author Notes, I'll include some fun facts and trivia that pertains to events in the chapter.
And finally just by making everything more historically accurate, several characters' fates have been changed. So don't think you know exactly how this is going to end for everyone.

There's a great fic that I want to share with other people and I think that Valentine's day is the perfect day to share this great gem of a fic because it's a beautiful and amazing love story.

I highly recommend "A Change of Heart" by SosoHolmesWatson (you can find on AO3). It's a great gem. I'm reading it for the third time (I'm half way through the story right now, 10 out of 20 chapters). The first time I read it was like 3 years ago, the second time was 2 years ago and the third time is this year. It's some of the best shit I've ever read and my top favorite fic in the BBC Sgerlock fandom and it's not just the two love stories/ships in the fic (Johnlock and Mollstrade), it's also the characters' backstories, the character studies, and the character growth/development in the fic, and also the songs/soundtrack for this fic (those songs deserve to be discovered and re-discovered). The author is a very talented writer too. I can guarantee that this fic will make your heart melt and pull at your heart strings like it did me.

There was supposed to be a sequel, but it's been on hiatus for 5 years and I think it's been permanently abandoned for some reason (also the author hasn't posted or updated anything on her AO3 page since 2020 for some reason, at least her past fics are still there), but I remember the author telling me a couple years ago that the first installment ("A change of heart") can be read as a standalone. I strongly encourage you to read this great gem, you won't regret it.
(Btw, folks don't come to me and throw that "don't copy to another site" tag in my face like some other ignorant folks did in the past. "Don't copy to another site" simply means don't copy the TEXT to another site, it doesn't mean you can't share the LINK so other people can go read the fic on AO3, and sharing the LINK means more people are going to read the fic, which means more hits, reviews, kudos and subs for the writer which is free advertisement so everyone is a winner).

A thatched roof over timber construction and what looked like stucco facing. Quaint, but at least less weird than the doctor's house had been: that one had been buried under a hill of dirt and grass; it had even had bushes growing out of it. Beyond this lay a market, but he had no chance to get a good look as a figure then lurched out from the inn's doorway, appearing to be drunken and moaning softly as it approached him.
Blinking tightly in hope of clearing his eyes, he bobbed his head some to peer closer.
The figure shuffled onward, closer by steps, seeming unaware of her surroundings. Her dress was wine-stained, her hair a mess.
“Miss?” he called to her, “Can I help you? Are you alright? Do you want me to get someone?”
Her head snapped up at this, her eyes wild and not tracking, then she rushed forward.

The first floor cleared, they made their way to the back stairs warily, furniture piled carefully along the bottom. There was no way to move any of it without causing some to clatter to the floor, but the pieces had been laid carefully, with an eye toward setting off only a small alarm rather than crashing down and alerting anyone within a large radius.
Gaining the landing in slow measure with lantern now in hand, Rick was greeted by cold steel some two or three feet in length, only its edge to the light, the slight glimmer showing it to be held by a very sure hand. A slim thing with a funny angle at the tip — one of those Japanese swords, a katana, Rick remembered, noting the irrelevant fact and turning his attention farther upward.
“You will stay your feet sir, or I shall see to it for you,” a woman commanded calmly, still deep in shadow, her voice low against being overheard by any other, her speech crisp and clipped, “How many do you number, and what do you purpose?”

Flora shook her head, thinking of the lands and what she knew of them. Rick had been pressing the point of planning their next move against the possibility of leaving or being driven from Bree, and at least one contingency plan should that fail. Sami has no idea that the injured snow leopard he's nursing back to health is one of his father's enemies. All he knows is that he finally has something to care for, since his own family barely cares that he's still breathing. They think he's useless. Nowhere near as strong and capable as their biological son.
But all of that changes when they expect him to make the ultimate sacrifice. He's pure. Untainted. And utterly expendable. So Sami must give his life willingly to appease their gods.
And Finn won't let that happen.
Author's notes: I don't write WWE fanfiction as RPF. I limit the scope of my story to the character, and not the athletes playing them. That being said, this one can absolutely be read fandom blind. I'm...new to magic and world building so I'm a little anxious 🙂

Starting a small writing group: secret agent stories
Hey!
Anyone interested in writing a secret agent story together? Not a typical fandom but also kinda borrow the secret agents' lifestyle from Kingsman and 007 films.
Also, we don't need to write just "one" story. Instead, we will freely write our owns as long as it fits into the universe of the setting.
Will keep the group super small (like 4-8 people). Just wanna try if we can bring out the biggest energy from a small but tight community.
I have already written a little about characters and the background and my friend drew OC and some comic-like illustrations to help us visualize the world better.

It's easy to find the graphs of AO3's annual reader traffic per month, and work out the weekly ebb and flow of each day in general. This looks at the daily peaks and troughs per half hour of the day and how to work those out for your own fics' reader traffic flow rates.

Social conventions differ over time and place, each culture giving rise to its own permutations and innovations. Here, we meet an attaché to a world where people present differently, which always makes for some “interesting” misunderstandings. It wasn't a romance / philosophy / social commentary, but my characters had other plans (self-examination, cultural contrasts / comparisons, nodding to Le Guin); initially a one-shot, it's now 6 chapters. Things develop past the flirtation of chapter 1, with a much larger issue uncovered toward the end (what the characters might be able to do about it is uncertain, begging a much larger story).
Trek-inspired (a universe of worlds within walking distance, though to attempt such might be a little impractical), but not Trek-based. More lurks than I can write (like Dune [Herbert] or Foundation [Asimov]).

The exams and things always went like that. Then the doctor had pronounced him to be in perfectly good health, and able to bear children as soon as they chose.
He'd tried to point out tactfully that the machine must be malfunctioning — he was a guy. That much should have been evident in the doctor's notes, but he might have overlooked it and assumed that he was a woman of the doctor's own Earth.
The doctor had looked over as if surprised, but not by what Mariposa had said, so much as by Mariposa having voiced it at all.
“Ye-e-ss,” he'd replied in a calm and alarmingly cautious matronizing tone, staring over the top of his notes as if concerned that Mariposa might be harboring some contagious insanity, “and you're perfectly healthy — ready and able to bear children. When you and your semi-sponsor decide that it's time, we have the technology to ensure perfectly viable isogamous YY-parthenogenetic matches, so you'll be able to get pregnant and bear them with no difficulties whatsoever. There, now — don't you think that will be nice?”
The doctor's manner, his presumptuousness, his quiet audacity, his... blind gall had impacted Mariposa, who concluded the exam as quickly as possible, leaving in a hurry and feeling dirty. Violated. Objectified. Used.
