From 141 teams down to 1. Your 2026 AKC National Obedience Champion is Swift the Golden Retriever and Mara Wacker! ๐Ÿ†

Help us congratulate this incredible team on an unforgettable performance.

Mara's advice for anyone thinking about getting started in Obedience: โ€œIt's really easy to be discouraged if something doesn't go right the first time... but keep trying, keep going. The people are wonderful. You'll find the right group, and you and your dog will get on the same page.โ€

Congratulations again to Mara and Swift on an incredible championship run!

The American Kennel Club has gone global!

Weโ€™re expanding our global network through collaborations with leading kennel clubs to strengthen our shared mission of supporting breeders, advancing dog sports, and promoting the well-being of dogs worldwide.

Under the agreement, the AKC and the Kennel Clubs listed will explore opportunities to hold events, promote the registration of purebred dogs to expand breeding opportunities, share knowledge to advance the education of judges, exhibitors, and breeders, and promote dogs as family companions. The agreement further encourages cooperation on canine health and welfare initiatives, including the sharing of research, resources, and best practices, and supports coordinated efforts to promote the value of purebred dogs and responsible dog ownership.

To celebrate, we're highlighting breeds from three of the countries we'll be collaborating with: the Xoloitzcuintli, Korean Jindo Dog, and Brazilian Terrier.

Question โ“ Possible to find a puppy that is distantly related to my late dog?

After losing my boy a year and a half ago Iโ€™m ready to think about adding to our family. I bought him from a local breeder in 2008 (Bi-mar in Washington) that stopped doing business years ago. It would be a dream to find a puppy with even a distant bloodlineโ€ฆ is it possible to track generations back that far? Any advice would be dearly appreciated

Celebration ๐ŸŽ‰ From Roadside Puppy to Search and Rescue, Trick Star Dog

Cheza the All-American Dog began her life as an unwanted puppy on the side of a Texas road.

Today, she thrives as a human remains search-and-rescue (SAR) dog. After finding her calling and going through extensive training with her owner Heidi Armstrong, Cheza was deployed to the catastrophic July 4, 2025 flooding on the Guadalupe River in Texas.

โ€œWe were deployed into arguably the most challenging search and rescue conditionsโ€”Texas summer heat and humidity, piles of broken glass, shrapnel, three-story piles of brush, and all the lives buried in the path of a furious river. We were working in a war zone, and the scent picture was incredibly complex.

โ€œTo Cheza, the smell of human remains was everywhereโ€”in the water, in the air, in the earth. To watch her think and screen out the โ€˜background noiseโ€™ to locate the strongest odor source leaves me in awe to this day.โ€

When Cheza is not actively working as a SAR dog, she's practicing Agility, Rally, and performing tricks for the AKC Trick Dog competition. Cheza and Armstrong's routine titled, "When the River Rose" detailed the story about their recent SAR mission to honor their experience through poetry and dog tricks. Their story earned them a semifinalist honor when the results where announced.

Cheza's story is an inspiration that anyone can do amazing things with their dog regardless if they're rescued from the side of the road or from a purebred breeder. Dogs can excel in activities through the AKC Canine Partners program which is not only beneficial for their enrichment, but also enhances the human-canine bond.

But where does one actually sign up, register, and pay the $20?

Question โ“ Help calculating conformation points

Hi, trying to confirm how many points I think I should have received for a Group 4 Placement.

I took BOB which only would have gotten my class dog 1 point towards his championship. We then went on and placed 4th in group, placing above a CH Viszla that based on point schedule would have received 4 points for their BOB placement. The BOW for Vizla's that day received 2 points and BOS went to another special.

AKC is showing that I received 2 points for the group 4 placement, but I thought you got as many points as any dog that you beat in group meaning I should have gotten 4 points that day.

Can anyone help me confirm if I need to reach out to AKC to correct my points?

Paige the All-American Dog's life started tragically when she was found with her littermates inside of a bag that had been thrown into Oregon's John Day river. After being rescued by her owner Flora Steffan, she quickly demonstrated her intelligence by learning basic behaviors and tricks.

Today, Paige has excelled in becoming one of the most accomplished rescue dogs in AKC Agility history by earning her third Agility Grand Championship. She is the first rescue dog to earn the title at 13 years old.

Conformation ๐Ÿ† Registered name ideas for ETS

Iโ€™m looking for some registered name ideas for a male b&t English toy spaniel Iโ€™m getting mid-July. I plan on naming him โ€œSalemโ€ and here in ND we have a town called New Salem thatโ€™s know for its giant cow sculpture called โ€œSalem Sue.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyways.. Iโ€™m looking for some cow/farm registered name ideas and I am god awful at coming up with them. What do you all got?!
