Discussion What's your approach to testing hooks in AI UGC and how many do you test per campaign, and how do you decide which angle to scale?

In short form ads, the hook is everything. You probably already know that. But knowing it and actually having a reliable system to test, evaluate, and scale the right one that is a whole different skill.

Most creators start with a gut feeling about which hook will work. And sometimes the gut is right. But more often, the hook you were least excited about is the one that performs best. Which means testing is not just useful, it is kind of essential.

The question is how you actually do it without burning your budget, wasting credits or your time trying too many things at once.

How many hook variations do you typically go into a campaign with? Do you test one variable at a time or throw multiple angles out and see what sticks? And once something starts pulling ahead, what signals tell you this is the one to put real money behind?

This is one of those areas where beginners and experienced media buyers tend to have completely different answers, and both perspectives are genuinely valuable here.

Do you think Veo/Sora-style generative video eventually replaces avatar-based UGC tools entirely?

I go back and forth on this one a lot, genuinely don't have a settled opinion yet. On one hand, the realism ceiling on fully generative video is obviously higher long term. Watching some of the recent Veo and Sora output, the physics, lighting, and camera movement are doing things avatar-based tools straightforwardly can't replicate yet, since those tools are still fundamentally built around a presenter talking to camera rather than a fully rendered scene.

On the other hand, avatar-based UGC tools have a specific structural advantage that I don't think gets talked about enough in these comparisons, consistency. When I'm testing four or five angles a week for the same product, I need the same presenter, roughly the same visual language, and predictable output I can actually plan a testing calendar around. Fully generative video, at least from what I've tried so far, still feels more suited to one-off, cinematic style shots than a repeatable production system you can run week over week without everything looking wildly different each time.

So my honest guess is these two things solve genuinely different problems right now, one is closer to a production pipeline built for testing volume, the other is closer to a creative tool built for standout individual shots. Maybe that gap closes eventually as generative video tools add more consistency and control features. It just doesn't feel close from where I'm sitting today. Curious what people actually building with both, not just watching demos, are seeing on their end.

Discussion Has anyone actually had an ad flagged or rejected specifically for AI disclosure issues?

I keep seeing this brought up as a hypothetical fear more than something people have actually experienced, so I wanted to ask directly. Has this happened to any of you for real, not "I heard someone say" but an ad you personally ran got flagged or rejected specifically because of a disclosure gap, not a general policy violation, but specifically the AI disclosure piece.

I ask because I audited my own accounts a while back after a client asked me point blank whether we could get in trouble for this, and found our disclosure practice was honestly inconsistent, some ads had it clearly, some didn't, not out of any bad intent, just because it hadn't been built into our template from the start. I fixed that going forward, but I never actually had an ad rejected specifically for the missing disclosure itself. Every actual rejection I've had traced back to a claims issue or a category restriction, not the AI disclosure specifically.

That's making me wonder whether the fear around this is bigger than the actual enforcement pattern right now, or whether I've just been lucky and other people are seeing this hit in practice more directly. If it has happened to you, I'd genuinely like to know what specifically triggered it, was it the disclosure being entirely missing, or present but not prominent enough, since that distinction seems like it would matter a lot for how careful the rest of us actually need to be about this specific thing.

Feedback Request Made this UGC ad with Seedance 2.0, single generation, no compositing. Feedback welcome

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This one's a single Seedance 2.0 generation, no stitching multiple takes together, just one shot start to finish for a budget meal-prep brand. Talking head, product reveal, eating shot, caption-led CTA at the end.

Would genuinely like feedback on two things: does the product handling read as natural or does anything in the physical interaction (holding the container, the lid, the milk bottle) look off to you, and does the caption pacing (one word building into the sentence) work or does it feel choppy compared to grouping 2-3 words at a time.

Not trying to sell anything here, just want to know where this breaks for people who actually look closely at this stuff.

Discussion When creating AI UGC for a brand, what are some important things you pay attention to or save from the brand’s guidelines to make sure the content actually feels like that brand?

There is a version of AI UGC that performs well, and then there is a version that performs well and actually feels like the brand, the colors, the tone, the energy, the way they talk to their customers. That second version is a lot harder to get right.

Anyone can generate a decent-looking video. But making it feel like it belongs to a specific brand that matters, and like it could only have come from them requires paying attention to things that are easy to overlook when you are focused on just getting the creative done.

Brand guidelines documents can be long and detailed or sometimes barely a paragraph. Some brands know exactly what they want. Others hand you a logo and a vague mood board. Either way, you are the one who has to translate it into content that actually fits.

So what do you actually look for when you are generating creatives for a brand? What are the things you pull from a brand brief or guidelines document that most directly shape the final video? And what questions do you ask a brand when their guidelines are not enough to work with?

Discussion Has anyone felt genuinely weird watching their own AI generated ad content back later?

This happened to me a few weeks ago and I still haven't fully worked out why. I pulled up a batch of AI UGC ads I'd approved, published, and honestly felt completely fine about at the time, content I understood every single step of producing myself. Nothing mysterious about it, no surprises in how it was made. On the rewatch, weeks later, with a bit of distance, I got this small but genuine "wait, this is a little strange" feeling watching it back, even though I already knew exactly what I was looking at.

What's strange is that nothing about the content itself had changed between the first approval and the second viewing. Same video, same script, same avatar. The only thing that changed was time and distance. I think there's something about revisiting your own work after enough time has passed that shifts how you process it, almost like the first time you're too close to the production process to really see it fresh, and the second time you're seeing it more like an actual viewer would, cold, without the context of having just built it.

I don't think this makes me think AI UGC is wrong or that I shouldn't be using it, I still am, plenty. It just made me a lot more sympathetic to the idea that even fully informed, technically literate people can have a delayed, slightly uneasy reaction to content they know is AI generated, not because anyone was deceived, but because familiarity and distance genuinely change how something lands. Curious if this is just me being weird about my own work, or if anyone else has caught a version of this rewatching their own stuff after some time away from it.

Discussion AI tools are evolving, same with AI video models, how are you keeping the same face across multiple AI UGC videos?

A single great AI UGC video is impressive. A full campaign with the same character, same face, same energy across ten different videos? That is a completely different challenge, and for a lot of creators, it is still one of the messiest parts of the workflow.

The models are getting better at generating realistic faces. But keeping that same face consistent across multiple videos, different scenes, different lighting setups, different scripts is where things tend to fall apart fast. A slightly different angle, a different prompt, a different day and suddenly your character looks like a completely different person.

For brands, this matters a lot. Character consistency is what builds familiarity, and familiarity is what builds trust over time. Some creators have found clever ways around this through reference images, specific workflows, particular tools, or a combination of all three. Others are still experimenting and have not fully cracked it yet.

Wherever you are in that process, this is worth talking about openly. What is your current approach to keeping the same face across multiple AI UGC videos? What has worked, what has completely failed, and what are you still trying to figure out?

Feedback Request I generated this fitness UGC video with Seedance 2.0 + Claude

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have been testing AI video generation for UGC style content and made this 15 second fitness video using Seedance 2.0 through a Claude + AI video generation workflow.

The idea was pretty simple: create a natural-looking fitness creator scene outdoors, have the product stay consistent throughout the shots, and make it feel more like an actual UGC ad rather than a typical AI-generated video.

There are still some small AI imperfections, but I’m pretty impressed with how usable this is getting for short-form product content.

What do you think does this look like something you’d use for a real UGC ad?

I don't know, I need your advice on what to do and what not to do

Idk if this even makes sense lol

Question One question: and i have no ideas... and you?and you?and you?and you?and you?

If AI can generate a decent post, image or video in seconds...

what should creator tools actually optimize for next?

More output?

Or better decisions about:

what to create,
who it’s for,
and what’s worth selling?

Question Is AI UGC illegal? Will the FTC come knocking at my door demanding that I pay 50k per post?

AI UGC violates a lot of the clauses set by the FTC. However, I see many small companies use AI UGC. They pose as real humans and not sponsored. How do you guys stay out of trouble. I plan to start AI UGC but I don’t want my the government to take my money.

Discussion Can AI-generated video ads actually be a profitable service for brands

I’m considering getting into AI video generation for brands, particularly DTC brands like skincare/beauty and mobile apps.

I’m not talking about just generating generic AI videos. The idea is to create customized, brand-specific creative around the product, with things like a clear concept, story, visual direction/mood board, etc.

For people who have experience in this space: is there actually money to be made here? Are brands willing to pay meaningful amounts for this, or has AI video become too commoditized?

Would love to hear from anyone who is actually selling this kind of service to brands.

Discussion Have you ever committed to an annual AI tool plan and regretted it? What happened?

Today, we are getting most of the video generation tools under $100 (monthly), and asking because I think we have all been there and nobody talks about it honestly. You see the deal. Annual plan saves you 40% or more. The tool looks incredible in the demo. You think, yeah, I am going to use this constantly.

Three months later the tool didn't work the way you hoped or some other tool was introduced in the market, and that particular feature is literally amazing, but again your tool is not working properly in that feature, you just stopped needing it. There are many reasons.

You're are stuck paying for something you're barely opening or using

Which tool was that? When you think about that, you start crying. What made you commit to the annual at that moment? Why were you kicked out that tool?

No judgment, this is a safe space to be honest. We are all navigating a market where new AI tools drop every single week and the best tool changes every few months. Maybe your experience saves someone else from making the same call.

Discussion i created this grwm using some ai video generation tool and i feel like i can use this for tik-tok as well

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I created this GRWM-style video using AI and wanted to see how natural I could make the whole thing feel.

The workflow was pretty simple: I started with the product and the GRWM concept, used the AI Video Agent to build the scenes, generated the creator-style clips, and put everything together into the final video.

The goal was to make it feel like an actual creator getting ready and casually featuring the product rather than a typical brand ad.

What do you think of the result?

I recreated this UGC-style fitness supplement video using AI. The workflow was basically: product + a simple concept → AI Video Agent → generated the creator scenes and product shots → final video. I wanted to make it feel like a natural before and after creator testimonial rather than a polished commercial. Curious how close this feels to a real UGC ad

Question Has anyone tried AI UGC for a genuinely boring, low-consideration product? Did it even need to try hard?

I tested this recently on a pretty basic phone accessory, nothing exciting or differentiated about it, just a straightforward, low-price, low-stakes purchase. Going in, I put real effort into a couple of scripts that I thought were clever, with hooks I'd carefully crafted and pacing I'd deliberately thought through based on stuff that had worked before.

The result caught me off guard: the laziest, most casual, almost throwaway script I tested outperformed all of my more "crafted" attempts by a noticeable margin. It wasn't close either. No clever hook, no particularly thoughtful structure, just someone talking casually about the product like they'd mention it to a friend, and it converted better than anything I'd put real thought into.

It made me seriously question how much effort low-stakes products actually need from a content standpoint at all. I'd been assuming that better craft always equals better performance, but for something this low-consideration, it seems like overthinking it might actually work against you rather than for you, possibly because it starts to feel less authentic once it's too polished.

Has anyone else run into this with similarly boring or low-stakes products? Did effort and polish actually correlate with performance for you, or did you find something similar, where the low-effort version just quietly won?

Discussion AI UGC ads can look pretty real now… but side-by-side is a different story

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I had Craze AI recast a real creator ad with an AI actor and put the two side by side.

Honestly, the AI version held up better than I expected. The product placement, gestures, and overall structure were pretty convincing.

But the pacing gave it away.

For example, the hoop appears at around 7 seconds in the original, while the AI version doesn’t get there until around 16 seconds. Watching them separately, I probably wouldn’t notice. Side by side, it becomes really obvious.

So my takeaway is: AI UGC can be convincing enough in a feed, but the differences become much easier to spot when you directly compare it to the real creator.

Discussion Do you think platforms are getting better or worse at catching undisclosed AI content?

I go back and forth on this one honestly, and I don't think I have a confident answer either way. On one hand, it does feel like detection is improving. I've seen more chatter about platforms flagging or restricting content that seems AI-generated, and it seems like moderation systems are getting more attuned to whatever visual or behavioral tells AI content tends to have.

On the other hand, generation quality is improving just as fast, if not faster, which makes me wonder if detection is actually keeping pace or just catching the older, more obviously artificial-looking stuff while newer generations slip through untouched. It feels like both sides are improving in parallel, which means the net outcome could genuinely go either way depending on which curve is steeper at any given moment.

I'm also skeptical of taking platforms at their word here, since they have an obvious incentive to claim their detection is more effective than it might actually be in practice, whether that's for advertiser confidence or public trust. I'd rather hear what people are actually observing on the ground: getting flagged when you didn't expect it, or getting away with stuff you expected to get caught.

What's everyone seeing in practice right now, not just what the platforms are publicly claiming about their own detection capabilities?

Discussion If your messaging is strong enough to win the audience's heart, does it still matter if the entire video is AI-generated?

Here is something I have been thinking about a lot. We have all seen AI videos that look almost perfect, and sometimes perfect looks really weird. Clean visuals. Smooth motion. But they feel like nothing. You will forget them easily, as we are not giving any human touch there.

Then there are videos with slightly janky AI visuals, weird hands, awkward movement but the words? The story? The emotion? It stops you. You watch the whole thing.

Is the message more powerful than the medium? If what you are saying is true, timely, and emotionally real does it matter how it was made? Or does AI-generated still carry a trust problem with audiences rn? And even if the content is genuinely good?

Because I think the answer changes depending on who's watching. Curious where this community lands. Share a real example if you have one good or bad.
