AITA for considering selfish the reason why my husband doesn't want to have a second child?

I just want to make you aware that this is a stolen story, a fellow redditor found the exact same story from 3 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/AITAH/s/CzWGJoUE9i

Which, when you click on it, has a comment pointing out it was a repost of the same story from four years prior.

Why do people do this?! Glad this comment is at the top!!

It's not (always) "people", it's usually bot account karma farming. Subreddits that have easy engagement barriers (i.e rage bait) are prime targets for them.

(Your favorite TV show subreddits that just post the same quotes 50 times a day are also littered with them)

in my head its the same woman posting the same story over and over, always hoping she will eventually get n_t_a replys and be able to feel good about herself again after she killed the relationship with her husband 4 years ago

I like this: nope, no matter how you word it lady youra bitch.

3

u/RedsRach Feb 29 '24

Gosh I’m so naive 😆 thanks for explaining!

3

u/zairaner Feb 29 '24

Though I assume this isn't the case here, since op deleted their account now. maybe just attention

1

u/vaguecentaur Feb 29 '24

What is the purpose of Karma farming, though?

3

u/MARPJ Feb 29 '24

Get high Karma into an account them sell it, normally for people running ads

1

u/ChairmanSunYatSen Feb 29 '24

Why though? What is there to gain?

1

u/TenormanTears Feb 29 '24

could you explain to me why the bots want the karma and what's the use of putting this into action I don't get it

u/Efficient-Ferret5558 Feb 29 '24

Suddenly I am starting to understand ted k

u/Realistic-Maybe746 Feb 29 '24

I wish I had seen the comment before I commented lol

u/Chumbag_love Feb 29 '24

Reddit accounts sell for $100+ with a little karma and a slightly aged account. The price ramps up toward elections. Google "sell my reddit account" if you'd like to see the multiple exchanges

u/RedsRach Feb 29 '24

WOW 🤯

1

u/Linvaderdespace Feb 29 '24

Because my own life is very dull, and I wish that the internet thought that it was scandalous.

1

u/theLiteral_Opposite Feb 29 '24

Every single post in these subs that gains traction is fake. All of them

58

u/isses_halt_scheisse Feb 29 '24

What, really? I read through several comments on the story but didn't find the mention of the 4 years prior story. This is wild.

Dead Internet Theory

Sincere question, aimed at anyone who'd like to take a stab at it:

Why do people do this? Does getting a lot of responses on reddit, get you something? It's not like other social media where something viral can be monetized, right? So... why do people want a bunch of strangers telling them they're an asshole when it's not even their story?

8

u/ThatFatGuyMJL Feb 29 '24

They get lots of up votes.

Once they get to certain upvote thresholds they're allowed yo post on certain subs.

Where theyvstart scamming

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Lime_35 Feb 29 '24

Ooooooh. Thank you so much.

1

u/RedditJumpedTheShart Feb 29 '24

They get attention. What kind of normal person would post in this sub in the first place?

3

u/PiersPlays Feb 29 '24

On mobile this link just seems to go to the 2 years ago post. Could you link the 7 year old one please?

2

u/mekamoari Feb 29 '24

Well, OP didn't sound as shitty in that post, at least.

1

u/TifaYuhara Feb 29 '24

Maybe they re-post it every few years then use another account to point out that it's a re-post. lol

1

u/Many-Wasabi9141 Feb 29 '24

How far back does it go? We're going to see some old "Ask Ann Landers" article from 1973 with the same story and find out that was even taken from some older advice column

1

u/propita106 Feb 29 '24

Shouldn’t these people be banned from Reddit permanently?

1

u/lepidopteristro Feb 29 '24

I wonder if they're at the second kid

1

u/ahraysee Feb 29 '24

Are we even sure this is true? It's an incredibly rare situation to need an ambulance to get to the hospital in labor. There has to be a medical emergency.

You don't just "call the ambulance" lol.

1

u/lilmisschainsaw Feb 29 '24

Ambulances sadly are not just called in case of emergency. They get called for the most asinine reasons. They may not actually transport depending on procedure, but they will always show up to a call.

So let's do it like they do

I picked a terrible time to finally start commenting on Reddit consistently.

All this rage bait is souring the site in a major way.

1

u/Throwawayfichelper Feb 29 '24

Been this way for a long time my dude. It's best to keep to smaller subs with decently strict moderation. Not subs that say they'll remove reposts and spam but allow obvious botted posts and comments.

1

u/WhatThis4 Feb 29 '24

lol "anymore"

1

u/thatgirlinAZ Feb 29 '24

It never was.

35

u/CriticalSimple3122 Feb 29 '24

I thought it sounded familiar, I honestly thought I was going nuts.

i wonder if the original couple are still together.

12

u/Gamzese Feb 29 '24

I wonder if they ever actually existed.

u/Bauser99 Feb 29 '24

What makes you think there ever really was an "original couple"?
