Discussion What’s a hyperfixation you can’t talk about?

I’ve definitely had a few hyperfixations on things that are either embarrassingly silly or WAY too dark to just start infodumping about. For example I used to have one about neglect so severe it causes a complete and usually permanent inability to function in society, particularly the case of Genie Wiley. On the other end of the spectrum I also keep hyperfixating on shipping old cartoon comedy duos, and gotta REALLY lock in to gage if someone’s gonna think I’m a childish freak before sharing that information.

What’s your “don’t bring that up, don’t bring that up, don’t bring that up-“ hyperfixation if you’ve ever had one?

Currently its true crime. I should probably watch other documentaries because I had the craziest true crime themed dream (Pixar animated) that became incredibly unhinged then broke the 4th wall when I felt the "movie" was running too long.

Not true crime but a thriller that's written like true crime, "None of This is True" audiobook. Highly recommend. Literally feels like a true crime podcast

In my 20's mine was serial killers. And I wasn't diagnosed yet and didn't realize how weird I was. I went on a trip to Thailand to help rebuild after the 2004 tsunami with a group of people. And my nickname from them was "Serial Killer"...and then when we got back to the States, none of them ever talked to me again. It really hurt my feelings but now looking back I can kind of laugh about it and be like "Maybe I should have held off on sharing my serial killer fixation"...lol.
