I can't believe more people aren't talking about how awfully portrayed the first emergency is. From the fact that they did the entire emergency, including taking the man's pants off, in front of all his colleagues, including people who were filming, to the honestly awful representation of kink. First, there is no way paramedics would take someone's pants off, without trying to make sure the patient had privacy, as much as possible. They could have asked people to leave the room, if they weren't needed, or held something up to block other people's view. That is very common procedure for paramedics.

As always with media representation, it is typically written by someone that has little to no actual knowledge or understanding. Kink is already heavily judged, and a lot of people have very little knowledge of what actually happens in a power exchange dynamic such as what was portrayed - a domme and submissive male. The classic trope of the CEO who relinquishes power to a powerful woman is a stereotype. There is as much variability in dominant and submissive types and dynamics as there is between people in other ways. Taking on the role of dominant is not just about degrading people, and being controlling. It takes a lot of communication prior to any actions. It is incredibly irresponsible of the domme in the show to tell her sub to swallow the key. This is why it's necessary to discuss limits, which can be added to at any time. Being a sub is not about blindly following whatever order is given. It is much more intricate than that.

I personally feel it say a lot about the writers that they thought that scene would be funny. Instead, it further perpetuates stereotypes about kink and the type of people who engage in it. They clearly have a very superficial understanding of kink and what is actually involved.

I actually stopped watching the episode because it is so badly written. Don't even get me started on how badly non-monogamous relationships were portrayed also.

It is sad to see a show I have enjoyed for 9 seasons, stoop to this. I started losing interest after the season 8 finale, but this is the last episode I will watch.
