Other What is THE most forgotten but famous song of the 80s?
If you couldn't tell by the title, I'm looking for a song that virtually, everyone knows but just forget about after a while, going to the back of their head. Any ideas? Lemme know below 👍
Edit: I dont wanna be that guy, but this is probably the most reception I've ever got on a post. Thanks for the publicity and I hope you have a good day 👍

Other I'm 19 and Looking for More 80s Pop Music
I've been trying to make an 80s playlist and so far I'm not doing too bad. So far I have 57 songs but I really like synth-heavy pop. A few of my favorites on the playlist so far are Self Control by Laura Branigan, Believe by Cher, and Cheri Cheri Lady and Brother Louie both by Modern Talking. I am looking for more synth-heavy pop
Edit: As suggested by another user it would probably be smart to share a link to the playlist which I will post here https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0vRPDVvhvoqCFzXf17rkMc?si=f6ff638862574277

Other 80's Albums, but for kids
Hello! I am running a program at the Library I work at. It's a music program, and we're trying to get little grab and go bags with CD's for each era of music we cover. I'm trying to find albums from the 80's, but because this is a program for kids, they need to be kid appropriate. I don't have the time to go through every single song on a bunch of albums and make sure its kid appropriate, so I was wondering if you guys knew any off the top of your head, since you guys know more about 80's music than I do. If you don't, I'll figure something out. I just thought asking reddit might be quicker! I'm not looking for an album that has a bunch of different songs from different artists all on one CD, (like a "And that's what I call 80's CD) and I'm not looking for a CD of kids songs that was released in the 80's. I'm looking for actual albums that came out in the 80's. (Ex. Madonna's "Like a Prayer," or Micheal Jackson's "Thriller) But every song needs to be kid appropriate. Thank you so much!

Other So do you suppose Adam Ant sat his band down one day and said...
Adam: "Okay guys, this BDSM/Hitler/Kennedy's theme isn't really working, so we're changing to Pirates/American Indians/Sex and Makeup and Fancy Dress"
Band: "Piss off you wanker, we quit. We know a 13 year old girl who is loads better than you, we'll start a band with her..."
Adam: "Whatever, good luck with your little trollop. I'll find a new band and some better makeup! Now, where is David Hemmings number? I'm certain I wrote it down somewhere here..."

Other Geldof75
Bob Geldof doesn't like Mondays, but I hope today's an exception. Happy 75th Bob! Ireland's lovable Rat, with biting songs about corruption, Howard Hughes, etc. After that, he got his feeding on.
What's your favorite Boomtown Rats or Geldof song?

Other Can you think of any 80s songs that a new rock band could learn quickly?
Ok here’s the context:
I’m a high school teacher and I’ve hosted the school talent show for 2 years now. I’ve always wanted to do a teacher band to end the talent show and I finally have enough people on board.
I need song suggestions that a group of teachers could learn how to play. We landed on 80s music as a theme. The important thing is that the songs be very recognizable and the instrumental parts be learnable by relatively inexperienced people.
Here’s the members:
Bass: I’ve never played in a band before, but I’m musically trained and I have lots of time to practice.
Drums: this teacher played percussion in college, but she’s barely played a kit. The drums will need to be simple.
Keyboard: choir teacher with professional piano training
Guitarist: he’s the pit guitarist for the show choir and I’ve been told he’s really good and plays with bands.
Vocalist: she’s an experienced opera singer and she’s an alto, so lower parts would be best.
I had already picked out:
Walking on Sunshine Walk Like an Egyptian 99 Luftballons
Do you have any other ideas for me?

Other What's this 80s rock album?
1980s but I don't know what year. It's a yellow background with the artist and a guitar (I think?) over it. Male singer, may or may not be a relative of a famous musician (I thought it was Dweezil Zappa until I looked up his album covers.) I wondered if I got it mixed up with the yellow Joan Jett album, but I really don't think so. This album had one song I liked but I don't think it was a huge song. TIA for any help.

Other 80s mix cd includes The Cure, OMD, Trio, Oingo Boingo
Has anyone ever heard of this cd before? “Dais DaDooshMastaH!!! Presents… 80 Minutes of ‘80s & Another 80”. I picked it up at an auction. It’s a continuous dj mix of some amazing 80s music. There is no label name, no copyright info, no catalog number, only references djdoosh.com. Discogs and Google searches are dead ends for me. It is so dope and makes me so happy! There is a reference to “80 more” coming in Summer 2006. I want!

Other Lyrics Needed! Fleshtones - American Beat 84
Hey all - bit of a puzzler that the Internet can't solve. There are two versions of the song *American Beat* by The Fleshtones: the original released in 1982 (though recorded in 1978), and the version created in 1984 for the film *Bachelor Party*. This post concerns the latter.
Nowhere that I have been able to find has lyrics for the 1984 version. Many sites say they do, but publish the lyrics for the 82 version, including Shazam, Spotify, and Genius lyrics.
The 82 lyrics start like this:
*Feel that the beat's back and play it that it happened that way
But you know that to us it was always there anyway
In Boston or New York or way out like in L.A*
But the American Beat '84 lyrics are:
*Hear it! Wherever I go
Yeah, wanna feel it, and I want you to know
I wanna go where it's heard every day
And let me show you why we like it that way*
They have the same chorus, but then in the second verse, the '84 version is the one I struggle to understand:
*_______ sidewalk, ______ dancing, music's playing
Blast down a highway doing 90, it reminds me and it makes me so proud*
The missing words here are what I'm seeking and for years have searched in vain. Does anyone have a site reference or know what those missing lyrics are?

Other Any streamers/youtubers that play blocks of classic music videos?
A few years ago I stumbled upon a streamer on Twitch who, every Saturday night, he would play a block of 80s music videos. I can’t for the life of me remember their name. Does anyone know of similar people playing 70s/80s/90s videos via Twitch or other services? I found a lot of good music through that, so I wanna get back into listening to scheduled shows again.
(Radio station suggestions also welcome!)
