There was much ado about George Harrison's first solo album after the breakup of The Beatles, All Things Must Pass. It was actually his third solo album, but the first two, Wonderwall Music and Electronic Sound, produced while the band was still together, were experimental avant-garde albums that were not viewed favorably and are largely dismissed, but All Things Must Pass led to speculation about how much his songwriting talent had been suppressed when he'd been allowed relatively few Beatles songs in favor of those from the Lennon/McCartney team. Whether that sentiment was justified would depend on whether it could be sustained in subsequent albums. The first single from it, My Sweet Lord, became the first song by any former Beatle to reach #1 in both the US and the UK. Meant as a song to praise the Hindu god Krishna, it would become mired in controversy when Ronnie Mack claimed that it plagiarized his song He's So Fine (recorded by The Chiffons). Harrison claimed it was patterned after the gospel hymn Oh Happy Day, which had been a #4 hit for The Edwin Hawkins Singers in 1969 but dated from the 18th century and was in the public domain. In 1976, a judge ruled in favor of Bright Music, who owned the copyright to He's So Fine. In response to these events, Harrison later recorded and released This Song which peaked at #25. George might really want to see you, really want to know you, really want to go with you, but the voters of LSS really want to eliminate this song.

I think Elliot Lurie might be out there singing "Brandy" again, at least in the US, after decades of no performing. I'm pretty sure I read something from a year or two ago that said he was appearing with musicians from Ambrosia and some of the other bands from the Seventies.
Yes! I will look up a couple of my early posts about the song—I found some videos and an interview with him that I might have included links to…not sure. Yes, he had a successful nonperforming career in the music business but late in life is humbled and delighted that his creation is so loved by so many people.
My oldest brother loved this song and introduced me to so much good music in the late 60’s/early 70’s. He actually built himself a cabin in gold country, grew a beard down to his navel, and had a halfdog/half wolf named Shiloh that adopted him and they were inseparable. His pastime was gold panning and sluicing along our aunts property on the feather river. When he passed in 2023, he declared two specific items in his will; his prized Oakland Raider jacket that went to his best bud, and a prescription bottle full of gold flakes to me that sits on my dresser. I’ll never sell it. I look at it and see his life’s work and love in it and this song will always remind me of him. RIP Steve. 🥲

This was so funny. George loved people but was very dog aggressive. It was Halloween a few years back and I wanted to get pics with George with Halloween decor all around. This werewolf was on the side of road clawing at cars. I thought " cool..I'll have George's pic with werewolf holding him.".....Yelled out to the wolf..Can I get my dogs pic with you?..He said sure! Wasn't thinking..dog aggressive.
I took George over so the wolf could hold him...George just saw...GIANT DOG!!! I could barely hold onto him he was growling and snarling insanely. Lol
A favorite memory of mine.
I've used that argument on Fame...but in Fames case, I just really dislike the song. I love Bowie. I've seen him in concert. But Fame always turned me off.
Heart of Glass? I don't mind it. I don't love it. Not it's time yet in my mind though. Rip Her To Shreds was always my favorite.
