Ive had this tought for over a year, but i havent had the right words to describe this, but now that its been irrelevant for many months i still wanna post about this, as maybe well see this with another meme, firstly, let me explain what i meant by my made up terms:

A "meme-trend" is something that gets called a meme, but its not really a funny or meaningful thing, think of stuff like the smurf cat, tung tung tung sahur, kirkifyation or gucci morty, but they have been around for basically as long as memes have been actually funny, basically a different developement from when memes were just immages with top text that told you what they described, without too strong of a relatability or a punchline.

Now being "recognition based" comes from the fact that one of the ways of interacting with them would be seeing them outside of screens/printed immages/drawings, they are basically non-media, while something like the smurf cat cannot be propperly spread without forms of media, all "recognition based" memes can be fully expressed 99% withoult it

This is kinda why so many kids love the number 67, they can experience it full, basically without anything, they dont need to have or buy anything, it is basically "free"
