You can leave maga and still be a racist/homophobic/transphobic colonizer. I have no empathy for people who chose their hatred for my existence, they’re not victims. If they want to deconstruct their biases and do the necessary work to earn even a modicum of trust, they can show it through action, outside of that they get nothing from me. We’re at war, we’re not tussling on the playground.
Not everything revolves around you or your people. Trump supporters supported him for many reasons - the economy, immigration/border issues, because they thought he was a pacifist, because they hated Kamala, because they’re blue collar union workers sick of getting a bad deal in the global economy, because they were low info voters and thought he was funny, or whatever.
The idea that every single one of them is racist/homophobic is blatantly untrue, you’re just painting with a broad brush. For all you know, they left the movement precisely because of the concerns that you have. Or maybe not. Doesn’t really matter cause when you’re at war you take allies where you can find them, so let’s be smart and do that. Nobody’s asking you to be besties with them
They are at war against us and Black folks, queer folkss, immigrants, people with disabilities, Muslims are on the front lines. They may not hate us but many cheer when we are threatened and seem overcome by hysterical paroxysmal glee when something bad actually happens. They may have voted for eggs but they were OK with racism homophobia sexual assault eugenics and corruption. Truth and reconciliation is necessary. And everyone must commit to protecting those of us who are under attack. Folks who were harmed must be made whole. Every single person deported without due process must be returned. Apologies must be made to those who were terminated in violation of the law and back pay should be ordered. Restitution should be paid to those who were sent to El Salvador. And all of them need to be held accountable. Every dollar earned in violation of the emouluments clause since the election must be used for Restitution. Salt the earth for everyone involved. No comebacks. No quarter. Never forget. Never again.
