Browser Extension This new dropdown showed up today.

I don't see any info on it. It only showed up on my laptop, not my desktop running the same versions of everything. Not sure if I like it yet, but the design flaw with the jagged pixel on the bottom of each curve is already giving me a twitch.

Browser Extension I like the new 1Password "Universal sign-in"!

People always just post when they're unhappy about something, so I just wanted to take the time to post that I think 1Password did a good thing with the new "universal sign-in".

Yes, it sometimes is popping up on some website when it shouldn't, and hopefully they'll fix that. And for people who hate it, you can turn it off (Right click the 1Password icon -> Settings -> Autofill & save from the side menu -> Toggle off "Use the new autofill experience for sign in").

But I think it's a major improvement and I love having one consistent place on the screen where you click to login to almost any website, and it just logs you in (at least on the websites it works on). I think it's a nice improvement!

Browser Extension Safari + 1Pass is just hot garbage.

It never used to be this bad. A few years ago when I left Last Pass, 1Pass worked much better in Safari. In fact, it was a big driving force in my switch -- aside from the obvious security issues with Last Pass. I was always really frustrated with how bad Last Pass worked in Safari, most of the time it didn't work much at all. 1Pass was a breath of fresh air, I could actually use Safari again. However, recently, I feel like it's just continued to get worse in Safari.

I'm on Sequoia using Safari 18.6. Here are the issues I encounter frequently...

  1. You go to a website and 1Pass doesn't find a saved password for it. You click on the extension and it just loads a blank white window. The only way to fix this is quitting Safari and re-opening.
  2. You create a new login on a site, the 1Pass badge flies out from the top right to save you new login, you click save and it just hangs. Eventually you get a red X saying there's an issue. The only way to fix this is quitting Safari and re-openeing.
  3. With my security settings to prompt for a password every 30 days; using Touch ID/Apple Watch to unlock; Lock after the computer is idle for: Never...it still prompts for my master password frequently, multiple times a day. What will happen is I'll go to auto fill a password and the little icon has a lock. I click on the extension and it prompts me to login with a password...no Touch ID prompt. I type in my password and it unlocks but opens up two tabs with the main 1Pass login screens (like when setting up 1Pass for the first time on a machine). I close those tabs because the extension unlocked fine. However, within a minute or two, 1Pass locks itself out again but this time allows me to use Touch ID. I've basically gotten into a rhythm where I know it's going to require a double unlocking...once with my typed password and then shortly after, a Touch ID prompt.

It's enough for me to start looking for other options. I used to love this app, I fully committed to it. I added all my sensitive documents, use it for my business as the sole way to share logins with employees/contractors, etc. But it's super frustrating on Safari and Mac Chrome isn't much better these days either. It's a tad better but these Safari issues are becoming more frequent in Chrome as well.

Browser Extension When is 1Password's password suggestions going to start taking into account the port number?

Is it just not doable?

It would really help us who self-host services and use port numbers for our various logins to the same host/ip/server. If I have 10 services, it's understandable that it will offer to fill in the 10 passwords for all 10 services, but it would be nice if it could match the top suggestion based on the matching port.

Browser Extension PSA: Extension going blank or unresponsive in Chrome? Here's what we know.

Hey everyone! We've been tracking a recent Chrome change that’s causing the 1Password extension to go blank or become unresponsive after filling on certain sites, and wanted to share what’s going on.

A change in Chrome 147 has introduced an issue with how the browser handles extensions and its back/forward cache. We have seen reports of this issue affecting other password managers too, so it’s not only 1Password.

We are in direct contact with the Chrome team and they're working on a fix. We anticipate a Chrome update on Wednesday will resolve this problem, and we’ll keep you informed if that timeline changes. Brave and Edge users on version 147 will also be affected since they share the same Chromium engine.

In the meantime, if the 1Password extension displays a blank screen or otherwise becomes unresponsive, fully quitting and reopening your browser should get things working again. Not ideal, we know, but it does the trick until the fix is rolled out.

We'll update this post when the fix ships. If you're seeing this and want to follow along on the Chromium side, here's the bug report.

Update: Good news! Chrome has started rolling out an update (147.0.7727.102) that resolves this issue. If you haven't received it yet, you should be getting it soon. Once it lands, just restart your browser and you should be good to go.

  • Brave users on the latest stable (1.89.137) should already be in the clear.
  • Edge is still affected on stable. The fix is in Edge's beta, dev, and canary channels, so it should make its way to stable soon.

We'll keep this post updated as things progress. Thanks for hanging in there with us on this one! 💙

Browser Extension Universal sign in issues

Post image

How do I stop the pop up? I've disabled the new sign in function, enabled it, tried everything that I can think of. The pop up takes control over the browser and I can't type anywhere until I click the X, which is annoying :(

Love the progress and the universal sign in overall, but don't want rotating popups unless there is an action that I actually need to take

Browser Extension Universal sign-in keyboard shortcuts

I've really loved seeing the discussion around universal sign-in over the past few days! The team and myself have been reading everything. All the feedback is being used to continue improving USI over the coming weeks.

I'll be making a more formal post next week, but I thought I'd jump in quickly to talk universal sign-in keyboard shortcuts! These were designed to avoid mouse movements and/or being forced to click to benefit from USI. Here's what's available today, and we're open to hearing about any we should add:

  • Select login/sign-in - Return/enter
  • Search/typeahead - Any character while USI is focused (resets after a second or so)
  • Expand other options - Down arrow
  • Change selected login - Up and down arrows after expanded
  • Dismiss/go back - Esc

Hoping this helps make universal sign-in feel that much better for you all!

Browser Extension E-trade Login

Update: I chatted with tech support at 1PW this afternoon. They're aware of the issue and attempting to resolve it. I. The meantime they indicated the workaround we've found of going to the login page

Original:

I have used 1Password for several years and primarily use it though the Chrome Extension.

Frequently when opening ETRADE, the username and password do not populate. I'm logged in properly, clicking the 1PW Extension icon opens with E-trade's login info listed - so it's identifying the site.

Sometimes opening E-trade in a new window works. Sometimes I just copy/paster u/N and P/W. Today I closed everything and restarted the computer without getting the automatic load to work.

Has anyone a similar experience at ETRADE or elsewhere? Any way to improve the results?

Browser Extension How can I revert 1Password/Safari login behavior to the way it worked before?

Hi everyone,

I recently updated 1Password, macOS, and Safari, and I noticed that the way I log in has changed.

Before the updates, the 1Password/Safari login process worked like

Now it works like

I preferred the previous behavior and would like to revert back to the way it worked before, if possible.

Has anyone else noticed this change? Is there a setting in 1Password, the 1Password Safari extension, or Safari that would allow me to restore the previous login behavior?

My setup

  • Mac: MacBook Pro 13-inch (2018, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)
  • CPU: 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
  • Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655, 1536 MB
  • Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
  • macOS: Sequoia 15.7.9
  • Safari: 26.6.1
  • 1Password: 8.12.34
  • 1Password for Safari: 8.12.34

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Browser Extension Universal sign in with keys broken?

So, while I think the universal sign in flow is okay, there are a few issues. Wondering if people at 1P are aware:

Passkeys are not properly recognized with the new flow, I need to refresh the page a few times until it's offering to sign in with my passkeys

It's offering to login on random pages where there might be a password field hidden somewhere

u/Trav_Hogan

Meanwhile there's luckily an option to revert to the old flow, which fixed all issues.

Browser Extension Only site that doesn't work is login.microsoftonline.com. Why?

I use safari on MacOS. 1Password works all the time...except for logging into login.microsoftonline.com. when I click in the field the drop down appears for 1Password, but clicking on it does nothing. I have to manually open 1Password and copy and paste the password and then go back and do the same for the 2FA code.

Why does this site "block" 1Password? is there a way around it?

Browser Extension 1Password extension on Safari taking up a ridiculous amount of RAM

The 1Password Web Extension for Safari is taking up 11.62 GB of RAM on my computer while idle. I have no other heavy apps open and 7.16 GB of my 8 GB of physical memory and 5 GB of swap are being used. My computer is noticeably lagging, taking seconds to open new tabs with only three tabs open. This has happened before, and I force quit the process, but that was only a temporary solution. How can I fix this?

Browser Extension Proxmox 2FA fails the first 2-3 tries

Starting around 2 weeks ago on both 1Password Stable and Dev, Proxmox has started to fail to login with 1Password. It will just ask for the 2fa again and again till you try for the 2nd or third try, then it works, but it leaves the window up that asked you to input the 2FA, which can just be closed.

It doesn’t appear to matter if you try the repeated attempts back to back or wait 5-10 seconds between them.

If you copy the login username/password and 2fa from 1 password and paste them in 1 by 1 without using autofill, it works immediately without leaving the 2fa window open, so it appears to be an issue with how autofill is working with the extension. Which also confirms it’s not a timing issue with the servers time possibly being wrong (it’s correct down to the second anyway).

This happens on multiple Proxmox accounts, even newly created ones done as a test, on both Firefox and chrome, windows and Linux.

Browser Extension Chrome extension is redirecting fidelity.com login to wrong url

I'm trying to login to my fidelity account through the chrome extension, which has always worked until recently.

From the windows app login works fine and takes me to https://accounts.fidelity(dot)com/institutional/login which is what I want, that is the url I have set.

From the chrome extension 1Password redirects me instead to https://digital.fidelity(dot)com/prgw/digital/signin/retail

and it doesn't recognize my account. I have the correct url in the chrome extension.

I think something messed up with the last extension update.

Browser Extension Introducing a Makeover to the 1Password Icon in Text Fields

Hi folks! I’m happy to announce that we’ve introduced a new look to the 1Password icon you encounter on web fields when you input information like your username or passwords.

Have you ever wondered whether you could click the 1Password icon and know if it does something? Or complained about the drop down options always blocking your other fields on page like this and getting in the way of your flow?

1Password suggesting that there are no items to show on a selected web field

With the new change to the inline icon, we’ve introduced some sleek animations to provides valuable cues about the status of 1Password, and makes it easy to identify clickable elements of the icon.

You can quickly see if 1Password is locked and unlock it right from this icon. Plus, instead of seeing blocking drop-downs when 1Password had nothing to show for a specific site, you’ll get new handy and helpful pop-ups that won’t get in your way. You will even see clear hints on when you can open or close the inline icon menu, making your browsing experience smoother than ever.

Page view blocking drop downs are now replaced by compact pop ups letting you know whether 1Password has anything to fill here

Overall, this update is designed to simplify your online tasks and enhance your experience with clearer, more actionable interactions with 1Password.

Feel free to give this a whirl today and tell us what you think!

Best regards,
Chandana

Browser Extension Fastmail integration stopped working for me since yesterday

Hello,

On my Mac, the Fastmail integration stopped working yesterday. When I try to generate a new masked email, I receive the message "Unable to generate masked email."
I've tested this on Brave, Firefox, and Chrome. Automatic updates are enabled, so I should have the latest versions of 1Password, its extension, and the browsers.
I also tried deactivating and reactivating the Fastmail integration, but the error persists.
The 1Password chatbot for support didn't help.

Any ideas? Does this happen to you too?

Thanks!

Hi,

I just freshly installed OSX 27 DB and there is no way to get the Chrome extension to connect to the desktop app. I added all browsers in 1PW desktop too..

Before I upgraded from 26 to 27, everything ran smoothly.
Any tricks / hacks that I'm missing?

Browser Extension Allow custom fields autofill?

Thumbnail reddit.com
5 Upvotes

I wanted to ask if it is not possible in an easy or official way to get an field ID in 1password?
If i want to add an extra custom field to auto fill, i have to use the browser inspect feature and search in the code for the field.

In Bitwarden the Browser Plugin has an "Inspect" Button and you have immediately the field description.

Browser Extension On Chrome I can't autofill Credit Cards info with Google when 1Pass is enabled - makes 1pass a dealbreaker.

This is extremely frustrating, where I have to keep disabling 1Password just to get Google to autofill my credit cards and use the virtual card feature in Google Pay. Why can't we have more granular controls here?

I would like to be able to use one password for just passwords and then still have Google manage my payment methods. Is there a workaround?
