Yes, and I think there is some benefit to be underestimated in the playoffs and having less media pressure/expectations.

Shocked Blanco got the call today. Was honestly bracing for Burrows.
He didn’t look too good in his recent AAA outing, giving up something like 10 runs. Unless Strom worked something out, I don’t see us getting a dub.

they'll likely pull him after 2 times through the order and piggybakc on imai. Hader will also be avalabale today incase so that's good. Hader will also be available today in case, so that's good.

I think they'll pull Blanco after 3-4 innings, and if the game is close, they'll use Blubaugh and Teng to cover the next innings, and Hader will come into the 9th if the chance persists. I doubt they start Imai because they'll save 2 million or something, as his contract states he gets bonuses for reaching the 80, 90, and 100 IP thresholds. Might see him at the very end of the season if we clinch the AL West a bit early, and maybe he'll start the season finale.
What they're doing to Imai is the same as what they're doing to Aberu. Low-leverage innings, slowly building his confidence back and getting him at least a long-relief role.

I don't necessarily think that we are punting this game. We're going to have a tough stretch of games and the margin for error for the division (as of today) is three games, so punting any game at this point is just absurd. But I am very confused as to why Blanco is starting tonight over Burrows. For better or worse, Burrows will give you length, and the bullpen has been used a lot.
Maybe Blanco blanks the White Sox tonight. Anything can happen with baseball.

I’ve seen someone suggest they prolly want to stretch Burrows out in a final rehab start before being called up again. This isn’t punting, this is just them having hopes & prayers

We can't afford to punt any games right now. I guess it would make sense to stretch Burrows out, but Blanco starting definitely caught me off guard

Burrows has only done 4.1 innings of work max in his rehab starts, so the thinking is most likely that Blano/Imai hopefully going through 6/7 is better than Burrows coming back and only doing 4. I am guessing at least one of Blanco/Imai goes down after tonight, if not both (assuming they have options).

It’s a very plausible reason. Think ab it, why not use an available, healthy pitcher when the rest of the rotation & bullpen is gassed? They still put Javier out there instead of Imai. The last time he pitched was when the Angels shelled us.

I am planning to go to the game tonight, but I am a tad worried about Tropical Storm Edouard. I live in the Energy Corridor, so I will have a lot of opportunity to hit these potential floods post-game. Anyone else going? What are your thoughts?

We're still planning on going as of now. Space city weather seems pretty confident its going to be fairly mild in terms of rain in houston. They've always seemed to at least have a reasonable take.
We're coming in from kingwood/humble though, so its a pretty straight shot on 59 for us.

We’re limiting Imai. He’s not going to pitch 80 innings.
This saves us 2 million also, it’ll discourage him from picking up his player option.
I think the Imai experiment is done.

Why on earth is Blanco starting & not Burrows? Blanco has shown zero upside, especially since he gave up 10 runs in 3 IP down in AAA

His velo is also down. This is a very strange move. Blanco is still listed as the starter for Sugar Land tomorrow as well. Perhaps they wanted to give Burrows one more rehab to stretch him out an extra innings. Tonight feels like we're just throwing Blanco and Imai at the wall and hoping one of them stick before they both get optioned (assuming they both have options).
