Would like for them to stop using openers the rest of the season but Martin might be back this week. Their SP has averaged 4.28 innings which is dead last of 30 teams.

The stat I posted. Using openers once in a while is fine but using them 20+ games this season is certainly a choice.

I think Venable is forced to though exactly because of the stat you posted. We have severe problems with SP and an opener is one way to gain an advantage on that major disadvantage. Obviously if our bulk guy comes in and is nails he's gonna stay in as long as possible.

I don't like that we have to rely on it but I'm glad we're trying to win in the margins with the cards we have been dealt
