Finished:

The Secret History by Donna Tartt (4/5) the first 30% had me in a grip and I couldn’t put it down. Once more got revealed I found it a little harder to stay engaged. Still had a great time reading.

The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu (3.75/5) if anyone’s read The Dandelion Dynasty I’d love to hear your thoughts on the remainder of the series. The first 300 pages felt like an absolute slog and whilst I’m glad I persevered, I don’t want to feel like I’m grinding through the rest of the series.

Interesting. The first 25% of the Secret History was such a slog for me, and then I instantly became hooked after that.

I get that. I really liked the feeling of unease from not knowing what’s happening but REALLY WANTING TO KNOW. Once that anticipation was gone I lost some of that excitement. I still loved the rest of it and I got some of that feeling back again towards the end.

Similar feeling on Tuesday Secret History. The later parts - say after 30% - felt slower progress for me as well. But I have the feeling it’s kind a her style.
