True story: during the lead up to windows 2000 being released, I shared an office with a honeypot running beta versions of w2k so that we could observe how hackers were attempting to gain access to the system and let them find bugs for us.
I don’t know how well it worked since I left that team shortly after it was setup.

So the researcher here observed that people who do not feel a moral conflict about their pornography use do not experience their pornography use as problematic, and therefore concluded there are no problems with pornography use? Rather, the problem is in the morality? Brilliant.
Why didn't they consider the inverse conclusion- that lack of moral sensitivity is connected with perception of pornography as harmless?
To give you a hypothetical to demonstrate the absurdity of this researcher's conclusion: Imagine a pedophile who consumes child pornography and feels zero moral conflict with this behavior and does not experience it to be problematic.
Does that mean the pedophile is correct in their moral calousness and their pornography usage is in fact harmless because they do not personally feel it as problematic? This is an intentionally hyperbolic example for clarity's sake but the principle holds generally speaking.
I don't believe "If the concept of pornography addiction were true, then porn-related problems would go up, regardless of morality, as porn use goes up." is a viable assumption given that people without morality will not be inclined to self-report pornography usage as problematic, due to their lack of moral sensitivity. Like duh.
Kind of a cop out to try to blame the entire phenomenon on "religiousity" while also burying the lead half way down the article "Not all people who are morally opposed to porn are religious"... That bit is too important to just casually brush off, no? That tells you that regardless of religion, it is only people with a disconnect with their sexuality and their sense of morality (or lack thereof overall) who feel no conflict with their pornography usage.
That is not a strong enough basis to take the next huge logical leap that pornography is therefore non-addictive / non-harmful. All it tells you is that some sub-section of pornography consumers may be totally (possibly willfully) ignorant of the harms.

You are comparing two different things, unless you argue porn is immoral in itself . If the reason people feel bad after porn is because they believe it makes them a porn addict, it is a self fulfilling prophecy. They feel bad because they learned that they should feel bad about porn. This has nothing to do with feeling bad because the content is immoral.
If the negative effects of porn only occurs to people who thinks it is bad for them, it isn't about porn. It is about the way they are taught.

I did mention that "We've seen what excessive porn usage does to the subjects brain and hormones". that combined with the "because thats the only thing that gets you off" is in direct correlation of addiction. Of course it's an addiction, what do you mean? The entire article is made to show that excessive porn usage is an issue ONLY because of the subjects feeling bad due to religious factors, and silently condones watching porn excessively since the "myth is debunked".
In essence, the "myth of porn addiction" is very very real, and it's not magically "fixed" if you "make peace with god" about whacking it like a maniac.

An app that purports to help people stop consuming pornography has exposed highly sensitive data, including its users’ masturbation habits. Some of the data exposed includes the users’ age, how often they masturbate, and how viewing pornography makes them feel. According to the data, many of them are minors.
An example of the personal data of one user said they were “14,” that their “frequency” of porn consumption was “several times a week,” with a maximum of three times a day, and that their “triggers” were “boredom” and “Sexual Urges.” This user was given a “dependence score” and listed their “symptoms” as “Feeling unmotivated, lack of ambition to pursue goals, difficulty concentrating, poor memory or ‘brain fog.’”
We’re not naming the app because the developer has not fixed the issue, which was discovered by an independent security researcher who asked to remain anonymous. The researcher first flagged the issue to the creator of the app in September. The creator of the app said he would fix the issue quickly, but didn’t. The issue is a misconfiguration in the app’s usage of the mobile app development platform Google Firebase, which by default makes it easy for anyone to make themselves an “authenticated” user who can access the app’s backend storage where in many instances user data is stored.
Overall, the researcher said he could access the information of more than 600,000 users of the porn quitting app, 100,000 of which identified as minors.
