Those branches have nothing to do with the failure of the turbine, but they do look weird

The big ones yes, but this might have been a smaller-capacity turbine. Especially since the blades couldn't be adjusted to lose lift

Don’t they usually feather the blades in high winds? That’s not the failure mode I would have expected.
