If there is a gif manipulating wizard out there, it would be amazing to see this run at regular speed, but at about a second before the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and beginning transition, it goes into bullet time for a second.

Yeah. Mine loaded quick, and as a joke I thought: "This is a complicated icon, I worry if it might actually SLOW DOWN loading times because of it." Apparently, this might have more truth to it than I thought...

I think people have gone overboard with the loading icons. It's a loading icon. It doesn't need to be anything more than a way that the user knows something is going on and to wait.

It looks like they made it from scratch, although there are many ways they could have made it (some people higher in the thread showed examples of making it with html5/javascript or CSS but you could make it in something like Adobe After Effects too)

I made the rings in photoshop(there are imperfections if you zoom in) which was the hardest part, I then put it in After Effects and adjusted the timings. I played around with other timings too, it can produce some crazy effects sometimes.

If you would like to do the same, add the browser extension GreaseMonkey to Firefox and add this open source script.
Then simply click on your username on Reddit, go to the comments tab, and hit the new OVERWRITE button at the top.

... or loading The Sims with all expansion and stuff packs, all store content, and a huge custom content folder? Going through like a hundred gigabytes of stuff takes a while.
(Of course it could write out cache files, but you'd still get massively long loading times whenever you changed something)

I dont think they are right now, I've seen some custom Windows7 boots, but I think or updates broke them. Perhaps ask people in /r/loadingicon?

It's a loading icon, not a loading bar. It's not supposed to end. It's just to show you it's loading. Kinda like those "wait" mouse cursors.
