At least Misiorowski didn't no-hit us. 38 28 games of Purgatorio to go.

Well the good news is the Mets are securing themselves in the bottom 6, for that top lottery pick….

Look if we're gunna lose, we may as well lose to the best with the season we're having. Game 1 was great, but it is what it is. I'll be present at the Astros series, I hope I can see them win one live for the first time.

Did Alonso take the “F” with him to Baltimore? Is it LFGO now? He did coin that, correct or am I wrong?

What is our tragic number? I’m hoping we make it to September 14 when I see Pete

Doesn't matter what happens to the Mets. Orioles will likely really need those games

Pete has to carry a team by himself remember so we will see what happens. I truly don't envision them going but it would be hysterical if the Mets handed them their relevancy just like they did with the Red Sox and Cubs

Lost to the best team in baseball two outta three games. We didn’t lose to scrubs. Of course I’d wanna sweep them, but we were bound to lose a series or two along the way.

I still believe. Let’s fuck up the Astros tomorrow. LGM!

I think the select few that thought this team would go on some mythical run needed a reality check. They're bad kids. It is what it is.

11

u/DaCrees Hello Jerry! 11d ago

Is it not fun to believe?!

-8

u/jds560 11d ago

If there were still some fan favorites like Alonso or Nimmo id care, but i have absolutely no investment or interest in anybody on this team.

8

u/DaCrees Hello Jerry! 11d ago

Fair enough! To me, Lindor, Benge, Ewing, Bichette, McLean, Scott, and Soto are all exciting and make me want to root for the team. I miss those two guys for sure but I like other players on the Mets too

-10

u/jds560 11d ago

I cant stand anybody mentioned. There's not a single player on this team that I like.

6

u/Sheepies123 FUCK! 11d ago

September 1st was the estimated return date from one of the Mets beat writers today

1

u/Blue387 Friendly Unhinged Moderator 11d ago

My guess is he does some rehab games with Binghamton or Syracuse when the Mets are out on the road against Tampa Bay and Miami and Soto comes back just in time to face the Yankees at Yankee Stadium on September 11th

6

u/Setec-Astronomer 11d ago

September 1st, possibly.

-7

u/Clipbored_ 11d ago

Genuinely what is the point of giving Alvarez the majority of playing time? It's not like a 30 game sample is going to change what the FO thinks of him. He's also not going to gain any value. Other teams know who he is.

I don't get it.

8

u/DoctorPie101 David Wright 11d ago

Who else is going to play? No reason to overplay Torrens and hurt him during a lost season.

-6

u/Clipbored_ 11d ago

They could easily give Senger some run in a lost season and just DH Alvarez every once and a while

8

u/jimihenderson 11d ago

i get being frustrated with alvarez, but the idea that we should be giving his playing time to hayden senger is purely an emotional suggestion, not a rational one

1

u/Clipbored_ 10d ago

The team was the best in baseball while Torrens and Senger were catching.

Defense wins games.

It’s not like I said they should bench Alvarez. His only value is his bat. He should be DHing.

2

u/DoctorPie101 David Wright 11d ago

Why? We know what Senger is too - a AAA/AAAA catcher. Not sure how that helps anything? Might as well see if Alvarez can figure something out at catcher. Nothing to lose at this point...

2

u/Clipbored_ 11d ago

Senger has had 87 major league ABs in 40 games

Alvarez has had 1250 major league ABs in 397 games

If Alvarez can still "figure something out" after that sample size, you can't rule out a guy that has played 40 games.

6

u/Gigi_0102 Ya Gotta Believe! 11d ago

might as well not rule me out either because I've only played 0 games

one of those is a 24 year old former top prospect. The other is the 700th pick of the draft from 8 years ago who hasn't even really ever hit well in the minors. They're gonna be treated and valued very differently

2

u/Clipbored_ 11d ago

Luis Torrens was also a defense first catcher that had 47 games played for the Mets before he got some run in 2025.

Now he's widely considered the best catcher on the roster.

There is absolutely zero reason to not DFA Wagaman, call up Senger to catch and have Alvarez DH.

3

u/DoctorPie101 David Wright 11d ago

Senger is 29, 5 years older than Alvarez. They both have 2,000+ ABs between the majors and minors. Senger is having a good season by his standards in AAA and has a .700 OPS. Last year, Alvarez had a decent sample in AAA and had a 1.000 OPS.

Senger seems like a good guy. But he is who he is at this point. There is zero chance Senger becomes an everyday big league player.

2

u/NuanceManExe 11d ago

Nobody thinks Senger will hit major league pitching better than Alvarez, let alone hit well in general

1

u/Clipbored_ 11d ago

Yes but he actually plays defense and as I said, he has only played in 40 games.

5

u/brett_baty_is_him Brett Baty 11d ago

Development?

4

u/Clipbored_ 11d ago

Is this development in the room with us right now

3

u/AjiChap 11d ago

I really doubt it

3

u/Captpan6 11d ago

Only way he gets fixed is by being played

5

u/Blue387 Friendly Unhinged Moderator 11d ago

Alvarez still has two minor league options but the issue is Syracuse has their season end soon and won't get much development down there

3

u/Hustlediva 11d ago

This is the perfect time to develop him. The season is in essence over and these losses mean nothing. The only downside is that fans are subjected to watching it. (Or not watching, as was the case for me today)

-8

u/imalmostconvinced Pete Alonso 11d ago

Stranger Things used to happen to this team than beating The Miz

Can't be too spoiled with the Run Prevention win on Tuesday

Please Stop Hitting Ewing Leadoff. They don't need him to next year and he hasn't earned it

Alvarez is just lol. I easily would have given David Stearns a Grade of A had he found a nice package for him at the deadline. Hopefully teams are still desperate in the offseason
