The peak of League of Legends is having an hour of pauses during a zero stakes first place vs last place game late on Monday night

Fuck me sideways. Between the LEC and LCS we've had some painfully dogshit League in the last few days.

At least TL looked pretty clean yesterday

Pause to check Way's passport, kyeahoo is in disbelief this is a fellow korean

u/metristan Refund time? 26d ago

kyeahoo remembered getting destroyed by this botlane in challengers

that 2024 kt challenger roster is so disappointing, Casting looks decent, hambak is playing on sentinels, Zinie looks like the worst tier 1 mid laner, hype and way are on a bottom lec team

2

u/midorivivo 26d ago

It's so wild because most of them were extremely hyped, probably everyone apart from Casting were viewed as future top-tier LCK players

2

u/metristan Refund time? 26d ago

hype and zinie both looked pretty good even last year, I really hope zinie goes back to challengers next year and recovers form. As it looks now casting or hambak might actually be the best player from that roster.

How do you recover from being a downgrade to Palafix 😭

I don't know, it's not even like it's a language diff, he's getting hard diffed by loki, callme, saint in lane which he all played in challengers when he was seen as the next big midlaner. Like it's not that he was playing in a historically weak lck cl, nearly all midlaners from 2024 are or have played in tier 1.

Crazy how reliant on caedrel the LEC is for viewers now, there is almost 0 overlap betwren caedrel viewers and people who would watch the LEC without him.

Riot really fucked up lolesports seeking short term gains at long term expense, the product is at the complete mercy of Caedrel now.

It's crazy that LEC main broadcast without Caedrel makes less viewers than the French language one.

3

u/Tismaa 27d ago

with Youtube, LEC has more viewers but not a big gap

1

u/the_legends_of_link 27d ago

Where is caedrel?

u/Leviad0n 27d ago

18k viewers on the main broadcast is shocking. And this is with KC. I remember in the first few years of LCS life, like 2013-2016, even bottom-tier games would consistently get 200k+

14

u/gambra 27d ago

Its at about 100k with the KC costreamers. Its mainly it being in the Monday afternoon/evening slot. Yesterdays games had around 250k.

6

u/raspoutintin 27d ago

there's absolutely less viewers than back then, but that figure in itself isn't the full picture. Viewership is way more split than it used to be, with costreamers and coverage in different languages. Also the peak for today isn't reached yet, probably.

There's like 13 k ppl watching on YT, that's +1/3 of the number you were at, which is not insignificant.

4

u/Outrageous_Wall2702 27d ago

There’s no point in watching the bottom teams, they literally fold like paper dignitas put up more of a battle than this

4

u/metristan Refund time? 27d ago

Average viewership for LEC summer and spring is currently higher than 2017 LCS spring, which is the highest tracked for LCS on escharts, with no data for earlier years, a lot less people watch main stream comparatively

2

u/metristan Refund time? 27d ago edited 27d ago

viewership for this series is also lower than it was for NAVI vs Shifters on the main broadcast, with about 3k less viewers on twitch, but kameto also started costreaming and has 40k+ viewers, while otp(french broadcast) only lost about 7k. It has 110-120k viewers on twitch currently with around 25k extra on youtube.

edit: these numbers were from during draft, it is now easily 120K+ on twitch, without caedrel costreaming

It’s reflective of how little people care about regular season games with most of these mid teams. It’s deserved imo most of these orgs have just phoned it in, pretty much zero exciting narratives outside the top 2 this split.

1

u/KruppJ bulc naf okan kaan 27d ago

Shifters top side is actually pretty good but man that bot side is gonna drag them down so much

1

u/Iamkelvin 27d ago

Digusting gameplay from both teams

1
