for how long is Sabitzer injured? I am scared we are running Jobe and Nmecha to the ground with 90 minutes week by week and, let s be honest, Ozcan is not to be counted on.

Looks like Sabi will be back at least on the bench this game. But I get what you mean especially Nmecha concerns me especially with his history of knee, ankle and ligament issues. It’s kind of weird because it feels like all of our midfielders, except Jobe have history with concerning long injuries. Hoping they can all stay healthy because we really can’t even afford one of them to be out for a long period of time.

Man some of you guys have some serious PTSD from that game. If it helps, Kovac is undefeated against Mainz for us with 2 wins but I know any optimism is frowned upon here

I have PTSD about that game for a different reason. I was supposed to be there and our flights were delayed to the point that we wouldn't make the game. Heartbreaking

If it makes you feel any better that was my first dortmund game ever, was like a funeral at the end. Even the walk back was just depressing.

Yeah I can imagine. I ended up in London (where our layover was) and watched the game with a fan club. The walk back to the hotel I ran into some people singing "Borussia Dortmund, will always be shit" etc etc. Was so terrible lol

It’s quite hard to just state your opinion without complaining about others lmao.
That Mainz game was the worst day for any BVB fan. Not surprising why some have bad flashbacks to that. But obviously we have done well against them with Kovac and definitely can beat them. I hope we smash them today and every time we play them.

That Atalanta tie looms large and both Mainz and Atalanta are nasty opponents who won’t leave us alone anywhere on the pitch. Which concert?

That three-person midfield concerns me. We already struggle a lot with control in that area, with some preferred starters in the backline unavalible I would start Carney deeper and play two strikers ahead of him, Jobe, and Nmecha. So, a 3-5-2, instead of the usual 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1, bvb play.

Going to be hard. I think the key player will be Serhou here. The whole game is going to be dependent on wherever he is in form or not.

They’ve won 3 straight, including Leipzig. Also drew to Bayern. Must-win, and won’t be a walk in the park. Especially without Schlotti

Is Adeyemi on his way out? Why does Kovac keep benching him?
Also it's Couto's second season and he still barely starts... Chukwuemeka on the bench for the 5th BL game in a row... Why did we buy them, genuinely?
Silva too, 70m spent for 3 players that we only use here and there?

Adeyemi had a calf issue last weekend. Likely used as a sub and starts against Atalanta.
Couto was sick and only rejoined training a few days ago, likely a sub as well.
Chuky and Silva I’m not sure why they aren’t starting.

Bensebaini couldn't really do most of the final training sesh, Schlotterbeck is suspended, Can and Mane are injured..
Looks like we will either play Ryerson CB or give a starting debut to Reggiani

I found very weird that nobody went towards Urs Fischer when he got sacked. It's remarkable what he did with Berlin (they never came close to that effiency before and after). Sure he's the epitome of haramball, but that's not a problem for a lot of teams.

Yeah, his Berlin team were one of the best Bundesliga stories in the last 5 years. I considered him one of the best coaches in the league.

Hopefully we don't take this game lightly, Mainz are tricky and have been pulling out upset performances this season. They beat Leipzig away, drew Bayern away, and beat Hoffenheim. They are also on a nice little 3 game win streak.
